The World Ends With You is a Nintendo DS game made by Square Enix and Jupiter, rated T, and released in 2007 for Japan, and 2008 in other areas. It was made by the same people who created Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, for the Game Boy Advance. But don't let that fool you into thinking it's a card based system like Chain of Memories, because it is far from it.
You start out as this boy, Neku Sakuraba, an anti-social teenager who lives in a city called Shibuya in Japan. He likes to be alone, and he doesn't "get" people. He awakens to find himself in the Central Square, and in his hand a Pin that allows him to read the minds of others. He soon sees creatures attacking people around him, and is forced to flee. Welcome to the Reaper's Game. You have 7 Days.
Now that you know how the story starts, time to explain the battle system. You control Neku on the bottom screen of your DS, using the stylus and the mic to use moves called Psyches to help you battle the Noise, different animal beings ranging from the simplest tadpole to a huge dragon. You also control different partners throughout the game, and you control them on the top screen with the directional pad. You share the same life bar, so you should never pay attention to one screen. It is challenging to get used to, but worthwhile when you are in-tune with both screen and can fight the Noise.
The Noise: These creatures appear on both screens and, like you, share the same life bar. If you attack one Noise on both screens it'll die faster, but that doesn't mean you should always attack only one.
Psyches: Your weapons, powered by Imagination. The moves are locked into your Pins, and can range from slashing to electricity to sound to defeat your foes.
Swag: These items are used to power you up, raise your health, attack, defense, all the way as you progress through the game.
My personal opinion: This game is a must-have for any gamer. The plot twists will surprise you, the gameplay style is original, allows everything on your DS to be used, and the plot ITSELF will have you hooked. I could not stop playing until I was done with the story, because I wanted to know what happened to Neku and his friends on the next Day. I hope this game would be enjoyable to you all if you decide to get it, and good luck to you if you do finding your own style of play. ~ The Writer's Shepherd

Sora-Kun wrote: It's not a sequel but the first game for iPad. Worst buzzkill ever and probably one of Square's dumbest PR moves ever. Don't have fans slobbering over a potential sequel and then go "LOL JUST KIDDING." Uncool.
And I don't understand putting it on iPad. Part of the challenge was watching both screens. I know right? I spent nearly all of yesterday basically pouting over the fact it was just the first game again. XD The challenge is what made it fun, though I suppose they 'fixed' that for the iPad version by making the Fusion Pin work differently... And much more difficulty. I admire the HD sprites ad such, but I'll be honest if they would have done that for a new 3DS version I'd be much less annoyed. A huge countdown site for just the same game. Fail Square. Just... Just fail. Though thinking now, it's probably better if there is no sequel/prequel. We know what happens to some things that get sequels: Sequelitis, a worst copy of the original.

TWEWY is a single game, totally different from Kingdom Hearts. It has its own plot, own characters, and original fighting style, and it's for the DS. As I said, it was released in '08.

I'm a huge fan of this game, since my friend recommended it to me a couple years ago. I was never able to actually find it to buy anywhere until recently. It's a rare game, so if anyone is interested in owning it, ebay is your best bet.
I honestly loved almost everything about this game. When I say "almost" it's because I don't like that you can only have one save file. It's a hard game to find without having to look for a second one for my sister. -_-
It's a little off topic but it kinda urked me that you used KH: CoM for the SP as a comparison game, that one was terrible to play until they remade it for PS2. I would've used KH: 358/2 Days for DS, it's much closer in similarity and much more fun to play. ^-^;
About the Teaser site stuff: It is my understanding, from hearing rumors through the fandom, that the iPad version that was released had an extra bonus ending that hints at a sequel. I wouldn't know myself because I hate iPads, so I'll never play that version. Apparently the scene shows a new character with long brown hair who's carrying Mr. Mew. I've seen pics of her, and the fandom thinks she may be the daughter of Neku and Shiki who's being forced to play the Reaper's Game. From the pictures I've seen of her, I can say that she definitely looks like she could be their child.
If anyone is interested in checking those facts for me that'd be nice, I don't have time at the moment.

To be fair, I never used CoM as the comparison game, I only said it was made by the same people is all. I could be wrong, but I never compared the two in any way but creator, since as far as they go in that vein they were both made by Square Enix.

I basically mean that if you tell people it's made by the same people who made that game by mentioning the game's name and not the creators, people who may not know about TWEWY are going to assume they are the same kind of game. Even if you say they aren't. Saying it was made by Square would've been better from the beginning. It's not a big deal though. ^-^

It was a bit annoying when I wanted to restart from the very beginning for fun but I had to give up all I had done before, especially getting Eden and the Darklit Planets, along with the other hard-to-get Pins. XD
