is it just me or is Dixie so stupidley in love with Steal that she messes up words?

First of all, welcome to the forums. It's always good to see a knew face around considering how poorly this site is trafficed. However, I don't quite see what your getting at with this post. Could you elaborate?

I don't see the point in this either. Beyond the fact that she has a very pronounced New York City accent and the personality of a flophouse floozie(http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/flophouse and http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/floozie), I noticed no speech impediment.

That would mean she also messes up words when she's mad at him.

Not speech impediment. "Messes up words". In other words, when she says Steele is "magnesium" instead of "magnificent", and when she said he was "positively disposable" instead of "despicable".

Maybe you guys need to watch the movie again. To the OP, yes she messes up words, but I don't think it's because she loves Steele. She's just kind of a ditz.

Like what the others are saying, please elaborate.

I never said she wasn't a ditz. It would, in fact, fit the character and the image very well. I said I noticed no speech impediment. I actually have always believed she came off as the dumb female sidekick to a mobster, only in dog form.

Right, I didn't say you said she was a ditz. Look at what I wrote. I said "to the OP". Not you. The OP also didn't mention any speech impediment, so I'm not sure why you replied saying you didn't notice a speech impediment. But whatever, we are basically agreeing on this.

We do seem to be agreeing on this, but your comment, when taken in larger context, including the first paragraph of it, seems to imply that I was unaware that the character of Dixie "messes up words" (with examples provided). Following through to the second paragraph, where you do address the "OP", you refer to the ditz thing. Connecting the dots is extraordinarily simple. The implication in the first paragraph of your post is that she messes up words because she is not exactly the brighest bulb in the box.

I'll second that.

I did notice it when I watched it... but never did bother to figure out what words she did mean to use.
The fact that she messes up mostly when she's around Steele or talks about him,
might mean that she's less on guard for thinking about what words she uses, and is prone to mess up more.
But meh. How am I to say for certain.
