NO THIS IS NOT ABOUT BLANK RENDERS Do NOT bring them into this topic.

Now that that has been said, lets get down to what this is REALLY about. About two days ago, I sent in this image to Balto Source:

ALL characters in it had pages, and were linked to it, and it wasn't accepted. Why? Because "renders from other moveis are not allowed."

Wich is bull crap because just the other day, someone in my favs (names will NOT be mentioned.) sent in a pic that was from a different movie, and only a few of the characters in it had pages linked to it. And it was still accpted.

Oh, and I didn't even get a PM saying it was deactivated. I went to send another image, then I saw it.

???

This has happened twice. Why can some people send in renders from other movies and others cannot? I'm not pointing fingers at anyone, I just think it's a bit anfair to work hard on something, and it not be allowed :/

I feel the exact same way. It really sucks. I see others using screenshots from other movies and rendering them and nothing happens. Then I tried it one time, and what happens? It gets deactivated. It doesn't seem fair at all. Yes, the mods can miss things, but, still. =/

Some mods don't listen to what we are told to do Also, repeating something that has been repeated on these forums for almost 2 years :

Report it.

I'm not blaiming the mods. I read in one topic that they are allowed.

Report...what? The renders or the mods not doing their job right? Like I said above. I read that renders from other movies are ok, as long as all characters in them have character pages. (or something like that)

EDIT!!

I don't know if we should even have the renders, it's not like it's "your" drawing in the first place. The "original" character would just be a clone body of god-knows how many other people's "original" characters. And people think sparkledogs are bad

I have, too. Yet sometimes they are activated anyway :/ Many times I have sent in renders from other movies, and they are activated. Then a different mod 'checks' it (or whatever you call it) and they don't allow it. So I'm just confused.

Now, I know some poeple can make the image look as if it was taken from Balto (ex. taking the head of Balto and placing on the body of another movie's character, or the other way around) I've done it a few times, But it would be so much easier if we could just send in pics from other movies.

I mean, I don't think it's very fair that we have to limit our characters to looks like huskys or wolves, and some of us don't have the 'skill' to adjust things like the fluff or body size.

Do not bring the "s" word into this topic. That is NOT what it is about. And I really don't think Steet would take away a section that is loved/used by so many. And if you don't like renders then WHY bother to post here?

Some mods say it's ok; some say it's not. I really think they all just need to get on the same page instead of running around following different rules they've heard from different places. And either way, it should be made clear on the rules.

Someone's serious. WHY did I bother to post here? It's because while I've only submitted art to this site a few times, I've got an opinion on this topic just like everyone that has and will post on this thread. Mine's just different than yours and probably most other member's.

It makes sense that other movie characters shouldn't be allowed up. Making a new character for a series(like Balto) is one thing, but when you're CLEARLY using another movie's character(body/outline) with for the most part just a different paint-job then it's like importing the character from the other movie which wouldn't make any sense.

I agree, it should be all or nothing.

I understand that. But what if you want to make a mate for one of Balto's pups that is a smaller dog? Are you gonna have to render over Dixie everytime? What if th character is male? Some poeple on the site (me included  ) Don't have the skill to make Dixie looks like a dude, or make Balto looks like a girl. And there are a lot of characters that are only in one movie, so pics of them are limited. Does that seem very fair, considering that 'bad renders' aren't allowed?

Yes! Even if they were not acceptable, it would be nice if EVERYONE knew that.

Not ever person who makes renders keeps the build exactly the same; infact a minor majority don't. It is actually quite easy to change the build on a screenshot. Not all people who render copy the build of the character on the screenshot exactly. To show you what I mean, here is an example of my own work:

http://www.animationsource.org/sites_content/balto/img_screenshot/540.jpg ~ Screenshot

http://www.animationsource.org/balto/en/view_fanimage/diego_rules_Belly_Rubs/63.html&numart=6705&display=10000 ~ My render.

Notice how he now doesn't anything like Balto in the screenshot apart from the pose?

You could draw the character from scratch. It may not be perfect, but at least you'd be putting real effort in.

The only problem is a lot of it doesn't look like that.

As street said, people do put 'real' effort in to there renders. Look at this one for example:http://www.animationsource.org/balto/en/view_fanimage/Lone/90.html&numart=6844
