This is a rather disturbing trend appearing on the Baltosource lately, it has been invaded by overly generic so called "sparkle dogs." For of those who don't know what sparkle dogs are I will elaborate. Sparkle dogs are dogs with usually awhole spectrum of colors, they usually look like walking rainbows. They are held in view by many to be a nuisance. So how do you feel about these things?

This seems to be a relatively pressing issue in the community. I can't say that I have involved myself either way, but I will say this. I don't think using the "paint bucket" and making a section of a character bright pink really deserves any recognition on this site. I think this was a separate issue at one point, but I think this new issue was derived from that? I know a sparkledog is a picture of a character who, very unrealistically, is doused in pink and yellow and similar colors. In other words something which represents very little time, thought, or effort. I say the art community should be consulted on this issue, if they haven't been already.

Thats my primary problem with them. It doesn't require any amount of talent or time to create these things. Anyone can make them, no thought was put into them. It was as if they were almost done on a whim.

Okay, the so said "sparkledog-topic" I started (which isn´t meant to be a sparkledog-topic) seems to have caused a lot of trouble, discussions and fights on here. But it was never meant to be. I never wanted to bring the real sparkledogs to the site. I am anti sparkledogs. So why the topic? Everyone should know Hécate and her characters, mostly her fursona. So this fursona got deactivated because it is a sparkledog. What? Do you think THAT a sparkledog? http://www.animationsource.org/balto/en/view_fanimage/MJW_We_are_together_in_this../104.html&numart=13956&display=30 I don´t think so. And those characters where the reason I made the topic. I wanted to protect those characters to get banned from the site, because Hécate really put effort in her characters. They have natural colors. So if anyone would have read my topic properly they should´ve noticed that the topic is about these characters and not sparkledogs. Even Hécate tried to make that clear. But, some people didn´t get that or simply didn´t want to understand. Fighting must be a popular hobby here. I feel guilty to let loose the wole problem. If I would´ve known that people would burst out into fights about that.... Well, we can´t change the past, I can´t make it unhappen. But like steet said at the news, this site was made to have fun, not to fight. So why don´t stop people fighting over that? Steet said he´ll make up a filtre so who doesn´t want to see "sparkledogs" can use that. Problem solved. I hope people will understand that.

I think they should be allowed somewhere in people's galleries. If the mods ban one un-realistic thing then it's just going to be a slippery slope from there. Plus the whole argument of them not taking a lot of time is kinda silly when you think about all the linearts people use as well as just taking a picture of Balto and slightly changing the colors to get something "original".

Considering Hécate's character is a " vampire" wolf it doesn't belong here. They do NOT fit in the Balto universe and the whole idea of a "vampire" wolf is pretty absurd if you ask me. She has a huge fangroup in dA so that character being deleted from BS shouldn't have been a huge issue for her anyway. When Steet decided to allow these abonamations it was really disapointing. Sparkledogs have NOTHING to do with the Balto universe and even if he does make filters that wouldn't change the fact that he's taking away from what the site should be. Because hardly anyone's going to make GOOD fancharacters now. (If all they care about is those stupid sparkledogs why are they here, anyway? There's dA for that. -.-) Quote: But like steet said at the news, this site was made to have fun, not to fight. I think it's about time for him to see that if he's going to run a website this big, drama and 'fights' are going to always happen. NO ONE can get along with every one. The only way to completely "get rid of fighting" is if Steet banned everyone who's not a sheep.

See, not everyone likes sparkledog, so why should everyone only make these bonbon creatures? Not everyone has the same opinion. And that´s fine. But there is no need to make a big drama out of everything. When people can drop a subject and move on or simply stop if things get overboard then we would have less drama on here. Everyone can state his/her opinion but some people are getting rude by doing so. That should be avoided.

I was really dissapointed when I heard Steet allowed sparkle dogs now...I'm going to keep my opinion short and simple though : I think that allowing sparkle dogs now, is a mockery (oh yes...I said that word. Mockery.) to all the films, The Lion King, Balto, and all those other sources. (The only source I could understand for is Toy Story Source) It just disgusts me, I don't know why, it just does. Since sparkles are allowed, things like this are OK(I got cat's OK to use this as a example) Seriously? xDD Edit 11/24/10: LOL it got quiet on here. xDDD

Surely though site admins (I am not a site admin of TYSS, and doubt I will be; however) should have the commanding control on whether there Source has Sparklerats?

Sparkle dogs shouldn't be allowed here...I frown upon these creatures that are considered "creative." I think that's an excuse really. So your saying you can't be creative with normal colors? You don't need the colors of the rainbow to be creative. One can be just as creative using normal colors.
Sparkle dogs ,taste the rainbow.

Just adding to this, but why do you think there was such a problem and confusion with the different rules and ways fanworks were moderated? EVERYONE needs to follow steet's rules, that's why they're there. No admin should be going off making their own rules for their site without steet's permission.
