Annie snuck around Jack's bedroom. She was doing this because she wasn't suppost to be out, and it was near Halloween. During Halloween, Jack made her do those "Pumpkin heir things" mainly Halloween scary stuff, which she hated. It was awkward, him being king of Halloween, and her hating the holiday.

Annie saw Jack in his studies, she sat in his lap (She was light enough) and started to whine.

"Buuut daaad, I don't like Halloween."
Zero raised his head.

Jack put down the book he was reading. Strangely enough, the book that had been in the Pumpkin King's hand seemed to have a picture of a rabbit with several multi-colored eggs in a basket next to it. Now, as to how he had gotten a hold of such a book, that was anyone's guess. But that look in his eye sockets, that glimmer of hope, was very similar to the one he'd gotten in regards to that whole Christmas fiasco thing. It was a good thing Sally wasn't there to see it, or she would have recognized the dangers of him learning about yet another holiday.

"Oh, Annie. You'll learn to like it. It really is such fun!"

With a light sigh, he saw the look she was giving him and redirected his attempts, picking up the Easter book and showing it to her.

"There are other holidays of course. But your mother says we're not supposed to meddle with them." He glanced around quickly to make sure Sally wasn't nearby and then whispered, "But, if you're good, we might go visit Christmas town to see Sandy Claws after Halloween."

Annie heard about Christmas, it sounded alot better than Halloween. But deep down she didn't care.

"But dad...I kinda just want to be, neutral, you know?" She said to him. She tilted her head. Annie was really lazy, but oddly enough, she got into more trouble than Jack ever did.

Sally was stitching Annie's other outfit, she kept a close eye on Jack like a bloodhound on the trail. "Jack." She called to him from the kitchen. It was unknown if she had heard him. Her meek voice just barely reaching their room.

Jack frowned at his daughter. In truth, he really couldn't say that he did understand that notion of hers, wanting to be neutral about holidays. But then again, he had always been fascinated by all of them, so of course it would be hard to relate. He winced when he heard Sally's voice coming from the other room, but then winked at his daughter.

"Well, I wouldn't worry about making that decision just yet. Just give it a chance - you might find you actually do like it."

He patted the girl on the head and then carefully placed her back on the floor.

"Why do you go and see if your mom has finished your outfit and try it on?"

At that moment he grabbed the book and shiftily hid it behind some other objects; a couple other books, some papers, a pumpkin, and what looked to be a bison skull.

"Bhe.." Annie groaned. Jack was hard to reason with. Sally came in and smiled. "What's going on?" She asked, more so at a question for Jack, who she eyed. Halloween always seemed to make Jack frisky.

She sat on the floor and started to undress Annie, who grumbled during the whole process. She put Annie's new Dress on the ragdoll girl and examined it.

"it doesn't tighten around your stitches does it?" She asked Annie.
"Mum..." Annie said, rather embrassed at the Question. It was a ragdoll thing, Jack wouldn't understand. "But dad...I really don't like Halloween."

(I apologize for the suckage here. My muse kicked me in the face before running away and then reminding me I have a test to study for. The next shall be better.)

Jack pretended not to have heard his daughter's complaints about not liking Halloween and turned to Sally.

"Nothing at all. Oh, that dress looks marvelous on her! She'll be the sensation of Halloween town!"

He beamed down at Annie in that fatherly way, marveling at how big the girl already was. Had it really already been so long since that Sandy Claws incident? My, how time had flown.

Sally scolded Jack, rather out of character but she did it so.
"If she wants to go to the Halloween party this year," Sally correted him.

Annie smiled and snuggled up closer to Sally. She was the voice of reason. However...

" and Annie, you know how much this means to your father."

It was a bland comment, barely noticable, but it kicked the fight right out of Annie.

"Yes ma'am.." Annie said with a frown.

Sally smiled, and started to brush Annie's hair. "Jack- should she wear a bow this year?" She asked for his opinion. [Sally loved dressing the young ragdoll up]
"Annie, maybe Santa will bring you a 'nother picture book of places this year." Sally commented, trying to lighten the mood. She looked at Jack for he was the Christmas fanatic.

Annie hummed the This Is Halloween song for Jack, she knew how much he loved that old song.

Jack nodded to Sally at that, glancing back toward the book's hiding place like it was somehow a safe point from her chastising. Of course, he'd have to go along with what she'd said. Annie really should have a choice in the matter, but for the death of him, he just couldn't understand it. He heard her say that she would attend and, despite it being a guilty ploy by her mother, he grinned widely at the girl.

"Wonderful!" he cried exuberantly. "Ah, yes. I do believe a bow would look lovely with that dress you made her, Sally."

Silly Jack. Always so excited about the holidays in general. Then again, it didn't really take much to get the skeleton excited about something or other. At the mention of Christmas, he glanced fondly to the Sandy Claws suit he'd made those years before, remembering all the fun he'd had that night. True, he'd almost started 5 wars, ruined Christmas, and lost the love of his life and the icon of that wintery holiday. But how fun it had been!

But Sally must have noticed that gleam in his eyes again, because she started humming his favorite Halloween song and he smiled at her. It was a temporary distraction, but it had served its purpose well.

"I suppose we should be off soon then?"

"Only if you want to be early." Sally replied to Jack, she started to fiddle with Annie's clothing.

"Mum..." Annie complained. Not liking the whole idea.

Jack stuck out part of his jaw, pouting a little. Why not be early? Halloween was his absolute favorite, after all. Ahh well, he nodded in answer and then looked down at Annie, smirking.

"So, what's left to do in order to get ready?"

For you to be there. " Sally said with a smile. Reminding him he was the main act.
