Hi, guys. So lately I haven't recieved any replies on my last topic and I'm very disappointed. So I've decided to create a new one. It's the first four chapters of my new story "Jenna's Life: Before Balto." I hope to get SOME comments on this one. So here it is:
Chapter 1
Layla and her mate, Aster were walking down the street to Layla's home. They had just found out that Layla was 4 weeks pregnant. Layla was very excited, as was Aster. They walked through the doggie door and into the kitchen.
"Any ideas for names?" Layla asked, lying on the doggie bed in the corner of the kitchen.
"I don't know. Can we wait until they're born first?" Aster asked. Layla nodded, chuckling. Aster cuddled up next to her and they both fell asleep.
3 WEEKS LATER...
Layla woke up in the middle of the night. She felt a sharp. searing pain in her stomach. She tried to sit up, but then... she felt something wet.
'Oh... my... God. My water broke! The puppies are coming!' She thought. The searing pain she felt earlier came again, but it took over her whole body. She screamed in agony.
"ASTER!!!! ASTER!!!!!!!!!!!!" She shrieked. Aster woke up, fearing that Layla was hurt. He ran to Layla.
"What? What is it?" He asked, panicking. Layla looked up at him.
"The... the PUPS!!!!!!!!!" She yelled. She put her paw on his paw. After three agonizing seconds, a puppy, covered in blood and mucus emerged from Layla. Layla's motherly instincts kicked in and she began cleaning the puppy. The puppy whimpered. Layla nudged it over to her tits. The puppy began suckling. Finally, after 3 hours, seven puppies were at Layla's side. Aster smiled at his new family. 4 females, 3 males. Layla licked all of them on the head. Suddenly, her face turned from happiness to... worry. She put her nose to five of the puppies' heads. They were freezing cold. Aster did the same.
"They're cold." He said worriedly. He nudged the five puppies, one by one. No movement. No whimpering, Nothing.
'They're dead.' Layla thought sadly. Aster grabbed the five pups by the scruff and carried them outside. He dug a hole and gently put the dead pups in it. Then, he replaced the dirt and walked back in the house. Layla had her head on the two surviving puppies. When she heard Aster, she lifted her head and gazed down lovingly at her two pups. 1 male, 1 female. The male was all white, but had red on the tip of his tail. They named him Riley. The next one was a LOT smaller than her brother. She was mostly white with a streak of red along her back, on her ears and tail. They named her Jenna.
"My little miracles." Layla whispered. Aster put his head down on top of Layla's and stared at his puppies. Then, he and Layla soon fell asleep.
Chapter 2
8 WEEKS LATER...
"Hey Jenna!! Race ya to the fence and back!!!!" Riley challenged. Jenna ran over.
"One... two... three!!!" Riley shouted, running at full speed. Jenna ran after him. They were now neck and neck. Jenna picked up speed and touched the fence, then raced back.
"HA!!! I win!!!!!" Jenna gloated, jumping up and down. Riley snarled and tackled Jenna. They started chasing each other.
Layla and Aster were watching from the front porch.
"You know, Riley and Jenna are at that age where they have to find new families." Aster said. Layla had a saddened look on her face as soon as her mate said "new families."
"They're not going anywhere! Got that?!!" She snapped. Aster backed up a little, surprised at Layla. She was very protective of her two pups. She didn't want to lose them.
"But Layla-" He started to say, but Layla whirled around, her teeth bared.
"They're,,, not... going... anywhere." She said through her teeth.
"O-OK, hon. Don't worry."
"C'mon, guys! It's getting late!!" Layla called. Riley and Jenna ran to their mom and dad. Layla, still glaring at Aster went inside.
Aster went inside after a few minutes. Layla was lying down in her bed, Jenna and Riley snuggled up next to her. Aster went over and licked Layla's ear. Layla started singing her lullaby to Riley and Jenna.

Riley slowly fell asleep, but Jenna was still awake.
"What's wrong, baby?" Layla asked.
"Are we getting adopted, Momma?" Jenna asked, her eyes welling with tears. She was very attached to her mother, as was Riley.
"No, no, no, no. You're not getting adopted, sweetie. I love you both too much to let you go." Layla said, her eyes starting to water as she said the last part. She nuzzled Jenna's neck with her nose. Jenna smiled softly, snuggled closer to Riley and fell asleep. Layla smiled lovingly at her two sleeping miracles, then slowly fell asleep herself. Aster walked out of the house. He walked into the boiler room, where another female, Jana lay in a basket. She smiled at him, then lifted her tail. Five newborn pups were by her side, nursing. Aster smiled.
"So. Got any names picked out yet?" Aster asked, licking Jana's muzzle. She nodded. The puppies were all white like their mother.
"Edward, Bella, Victoria, Bree and Jane." She said, pointing to each pup. Aster smiled at his new family.
"I love you, Jana." He whispered. Jana smiled and licked his cheek. Aster lay down next to Jana.
"So how's Layla? Did she have a litter?" Jana wanted to know. Aster looked up.
"Yea. 7. But five of the pups died." He said. Jana nuzzled him.
"What did you name the surviving puppies?" She asked.
"Riley and Jenna." He answered. Jana smiled softly. She put her head down on the five puppies and fell asleep. Aster put his head on her head and fell asleep as well.
Chapter 3
Layla woke up only to find Aster gone. Jenna and Riley were still sleeping. She slowly walked out of the bed and then dashed out of the house and to the boiler room.
Aster woke up. Jana was still asleep. He slowly got out of the basket.
'Oh crap. Layla's going to KILL me!' He thought. Then, he heard the door swing open.
"LAYLA!!!" He yelled. Layla walked in. Then, she gasped and walked in further.
"Aster? What are you...?" She asked in confusion. Aster slowly walked towards her. Layla walked inside the boiler room. She gasped as soon as she saw Jana. Jana had been her friend ever since they were puppies. She was like a sister to Layla. But when Layla met Aster and started dating him, Jana was JEALOUS. She had liked Aster too. She had done EVERYTHING to try to get Aster to like her. But when she found out that Layla had gotten pregnant, she had snuck into her house and... well, you probably know the rest. Just then, Jana woke up.
"Layla? What are you doing here?" She asked. Layla bared her teeth. Aster jumped inbetween them.
"Aster... MOVE." Layla said through her teeth. Then, Aster did something she never thought he would do. He went over to Jana and NUZZLED her. Layla gasped.
"ASTER?!!!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!!!!!!!" She shrieked. Aster glared at Layla, making sure she didn't get anywhere NEAR Jana or the pups.
"I don't love you, Layla. I never did. It was Jana I was in love with right from the start. I only went out with you and mated with you because you looked so DESPERATE. It made me SICK. I was actually GLAD that the five pups DIED. But those two so-called "little miracles" survived. I wanted to kill them right in front of you." Aster growled. Layla couldn't believe what she just heard. She shook her head in disgust, then walked out of the boiler room.
"I can't believe it. She just walked out without a fight." Aster said, turning to Jana. Jana scowled.
"Who needs her anyways? You have me." She replied slyly.
"You're right. But..." Aster's voice trailed off. Jana put her head under his neck.
"But what, hon?" She whispered. Aster slowly pulled away.
"I'm going to miss Riley and Jenna." He whispered. Jana growled under her breath at the mention of his and Layla's two pups.
'He's got everything he needs right here. He doesn't need those two lowlives. Besides, he SAID he WANTED to kill them.' She thought angrily.
"You know what? I've got everything I need right here. A gorgeous mate and five adorable puppies. I don't need HER. OR the two little disgusting balls of fur." Aster said. Little did he know that Layla was eavesdropping. She shook her head, as if trying to shake what Aster just said about Riley and Jenna out of her head. Then, tears welling up in her eyes, she ran to her home.
Chapter 4
Aster's ears suddenly perked up. He ran outside. He then saw Layla running towards her home. He ran after her. Then, when he was a few inches behind her, he lunged at her. He sank his teeth into her neck. Layla shook free, then lashed out at Aster. She clawed his face, leaving a bloody scar that ran down his eye. Jenna and Riley ran out of the house. Riley then lunged at Aster.
"RILEY, NO!!!!" His mother cried out. Riley ignored her, sinking his teeth into his father's neck. Aster yelped, then swiped at Riley, catching him off guard. Riley tumbled to the ground. A huge gush of blood flowed from his front leg. Jenna snarled.
"NOBODY HURTS MY BIG BROTHER!!!!!!!!!" She growled. She then jumped at her father, knocking him to the ground. Layla ran to Riley, holding him close to her. Jenna attacked Aster, biting his ear, clawing at his back and slashing at his face. Then, when Aster fell to the ground, Jenna delivered the final blow. She sank her small but vampire-like teeth into his neck, smiling when she heard his neck snap. She then let go, knowing that her dad was dead. She turned to her mother. Riley was shaking so hard, Jenna thought he was going to have a seizure. Her mother smiled. Layla went over to her daughter and licked her on the cheek.
"My little heroine." She whispered. Jenna went over to her brother. Riley backed up a little.
"Ri, what's the matter with you?" She asked, using his nickname that she made up for him. (A/N: Ri is pronounced 'rye.')
"Riley, hon, what's wrong?" Layla asked. Riley suddenly did something his sister and mother never thought he would do. He lashed out at Jenna. Jenna backed up, surprised.
"Why?! Why would you KILL Daddy?!!" He cried.
"Riley, he CHEATED ON Momma!!! Why should he deserve to live when all he does is goes around getting other females PREGNANT and then CHEATING ON THEM?!!!!!!!!!! I BET HE CHEATED ON JANA TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Jenna responded.
"Well, HE didn't do anything wrong!!!!!!" Riley retorted.
"Ha-ha! You call CHEATING on other females RIGHT?!!!!!" Jenna laughed. Riley, after giving his sister a look of disgust ran into the house. Jenna stared after him. Layla padded over to her daughter.
"I bet he HATES me now, Momma." Jenna said, looking up at her mother.
"No, no, no. He doesn't hate you. He was just attached to his dad, 'kay, Jen? He loves you very much and doesn't want ANYTHING to happen to you." Layla said softly. Jenna walked away into the house. Riley was lying down in the doggie bed.
"Ri, I'm sorry. I don't know what came over me." Jenna said. Riley looked up at his little sister.
"It's OK, Jen. I forgive you." He said softly.
