I dont know if some of you have noticed but between animated cartoon series just ten years ago and now, they have just lost their minds with it. Lets think of a couple of shows on Cartoon Network:

Regular Show and Adventure Time.

These creators mustve been real desperate to get on the air cause' its just.....weird. I thought the Misadventures of Flapjack was weird until I watched a couple more episodes, and I grew some interest into it. Same thing with Chowder. But the guys at Nick with Spongebob have really run out of ideas, judge from the last couple of years since the movie on Spongebob came out, they really shouldve stopped there.

I must say some of the cartoons were weird, but NOT close as weird as many of the shows nowadays (take Kirbys show on WB for example)

Spongebob shall NEVER STOP! xDDD I adore Spongebob!

Personally, I think Adventure time is funny for the most part, but I hate Flapjack. I've never heard of Regular Show.

Well, thats probably cause Regular Shows a new addition. Mark Hamill (the guy who did Niju) does one of the main characters and extras on that show.

I've grown disinterested with the latest outings of cartoons.
I remember the great days of cartoons from the mid and late 90's. And some early 2000's.

I remember when Looney Toons, TinyToons, Animaniacs, Batman, Gargoyles, Spider Man and the like were all played regularly on the tube. Johnny Bravo, Dexter's Lab, Power Puff Girls, and the original Pokemon season are examples of later shows that I liked.

In my eyes, the downfall came with later episodes of The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy (maybe even as early as most Cow and Chicken episodes). Ever since, I seemed like the idea of strange/dumb cartoons spread like a bad virus.

Hmm, you do have a point there Rusty. 1990's cartoons were much more crude in animation but made more sense than cartoons nowadays. All Dogs Go To Heaven The Series and Pokemon (were then) and still are my favorites.

Powerpuff? Why Powerpuff? Their chuckle is just ughh.

I always forget that Mark Hamill did Niju's voice >.< Not one of his better roles, I must say (I liked him better as Luke and the original Joker, just saying ). But I digress from the topic at hand: Apparently the youth of today enjoy stupid comedy. That's the only explanation I can give to the trend with such animated shows.

Oh god. Fish Hooks -_- Kill me now.

To be honest, cartoons died for me a long time ago. The Spongebob episodes are no longer as funny as they used to be. I miss the days of waking up early on Saturday morning and watching the new episode of Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon.

As wierd as some of these shows on TV these days, i don't think any of them can be as nonsensical and disturbing as 'Invader Zim' was. That show was literally filled with disturbing images for kids. I believe there was one episode where Zim went around his school stealing body organs from other kids such as hearts, stomachs, brains.... Tell me that wasn't a horrible idea for a kid's show.

It is awkward, and you are right about the Spongebob thing, the last couple of years with that show have fallen by the wayside.

Pokemon Im sorry to say has really gone to far in itself. They were good at 400 Pokemon, no more.

I can't agree more. Shows these days are so dumb. Just makes me want to smash the TV.

Another really weird cartoon is that Pheneas and Ferb show. One of their heads is shaped like a triangle for petes sake!

It's Phineas.

That cartoon is really weird, but atleast it's funny, unlike some other new cartoons.

Well, it depends on what you define as "funny". The Simpsons and King Of The Hill I find humorous.

*Ahem* But seriously, those were the days. And some of them have modern remakes, but they're... just... no...

Another would be the Fairly Oddparents. That show in my opinion is just wrong. I dont get the humor and in one episode Cosmos having a baby!

Wrong pretty much sums it up for me there, and another cartoon I cannot stand is spongebob.
