Yeah, the movies are very difficult to find in stores, sadly... I don't know if this happened anywhere else, but last time I was in a video rental store 2-3 years ago the Balto movies were GONE. I don't mean rented out, I mean the movies were gone from where they normally were. Either they got rid of the movies, or someone purchased them.

Where I live...its really common. I mean, the stores have a hard time getting rid of them. Everytime I look around, I see a copy of Balto somewhere.

I'm live in Japan. Balto1 DVD is very rare also in Japan.
Used DVD is sold by 5 times the price in Amazon because it is not sold with the new article.
It might be a cause that the number that circulates to the market because it has not newly produced DVD any longer has disappeared.
May it is the same reason as this.

How about ebey?

I was lucky enough to find one at Wal Mart for 5.00 a few years ago. Wal Mart still has it in most of their stores, but now it's part of a 3 pack with Land Before Time and American Tail so it's easy to miss. Personally for that price, I'd rather buy it online since it will probably be cheaper and it will just be the Balto case (unless you like LBT and AT, then obviously that's the better deal). It's definitely worth the price either way, because it's quite possibly the most underrated animated film of all time.

Same for me. Except along with LBT and AT with it in a pack, my Wal*Mart has all three films in a pack.
I had the third already on DVD, so had to buy the first and second separately [both about $5 as well and were also found at Wal*Mart].
...wish they'd come out with DVD packs of the AT and LBT series. Need to replace the VHSs of those now.

A good place to find the Balto films I hear are "Goodwill"s and the like.
Could try there if you haven't already, and keep going back to check for they do restock.

^ Most likely. I haven't actually seen it there to my memory. I've only been there a handful of times myself.

So if you're lucky enough to find it there and have a working tape player yet, you're good.
