Well. Um. This have never happened to me personally, and I don't it's really such a big deal to make a rant over it.

This rant is kinda pointless... What can I say? It happens. There is nothing we can do about the fact that there are members who take things personally. For the most part these individuals are simply just looking for attention. That or they're just not that overly mature. (I'm talking about ages. 10-12 year-olds tend to act this way.)

Drama sadly goes on in that box all the time, so it's not just you.

Interesting rant... sorta pointless, like most said. But I do agree, if someone doesn't say 'Hello' people don't have to have a big spaz out. :B

I know I'm kind of new here, but I have to say that every time I go into the shout box people are fighting with each other and someone is usually crying while everyone else "consoles" them. I know my experience is limited, but if you are worried about "politeness" then the shout box isn't for you.

Do I just have bad timing, or does anyone else notice this constant drama in the shoutbox?

The shout box is a breeding ground for drama -_-
Which is why I avoid it.

I don't think it's pointless? xD
It's a valid point and a valid rant about it.

Often I only go in the shoutbox when I see people I know in there which tends to avoid a lot of drama (and I do try and say hello to anyone who enters) but people in the shoutbox often seem to treat it like an IM service. xD
Don't bother speaking to others in there except their friends.

Really the only way to avoid people being touchy and keep chatting is to move to another source box or the shared box, if people follow you to cause trouble you can report them for that.

I've been on Balto Source for now 4 years. And the SB has been a cesspool for pity parties and drama since I joined.

I rarely go on there unless I see a name and go "hey I like them. Imma go say hi." Most of the time it's just petty whining about their life and arguing about something inane.

Sometimes whenever I say hi, I may not get reconized right away so I tried joining in the conversation which seems to work an if they continue to ignore me, I go to pms or render, youtube surf internet etc...so really, no big deal I agree with Nicky on this one^I used to get upset whenever someone never said hi to me a long time ago but over the years I been here...I tend not to be so down about it an suck it up...

It always happens, that you get ignored when you go there, happens to me all the time, odds are if you are perhaps a popular person on the site you won't be ignored, but even then there's no guarantee. There are a few people I can always count on to say hi to me or someone new who comes in. It's not the end of the world, I just move on, because me whining about it wouldn't solve anything. Usually I try to treat others the way I want to be treated and I try to say hi when someone else pops in. Now as for the drama, good grief, you just can't avoid it sometimes you know? People talking about life problems, or how they just broke up with their boyfriend/girlfriend for the umpteenth time, gives me a headache sometimes, but telling them to stop whining about it usually makes it worse.

EDIT: and a little bit more, I just saw some drama break out again not too long ago, and I'm starting to see why more people avoid the shoutbox, sheesh, it's like nobody really cares to know about someone getting in trouble or being banned, that's something for private conversations.

Heh, I don't talk on the ShoutBox, but I do admit to (stalking?) it.. I'm at the bottom of the list all the time so, I don't see why not. And sadly, I see this all the time... and that's sometimes how the drama breaks out. When people go "D: you didn't say hi to me!" one thing to another, then BANG... an argument about a simple "hello". And sometimes, by some chance, you don't post for awhile, and your last post gets buried, and your kinda far down the list, some people don't see you.

Honestly, I don't think people 'ignore' other people- it's by a matter of change they don't see your post.

I don't think this is pointless, in my opinion, this is an honorable rant.

I do realize the drama that goes on, but hey. People will be people, and some people don't get along with others. All I can say, is talk to your friends, or be friendly and try to make friends, and if there's tension, leave the ShoutBox or just don't talk to that person. Easy enough.

I wrote a lot of stuff here  Unfortunately, I do notice the drama consisting of 'pity parties'. Sometimes people ignore you because your a 'drama queen?' does that thought occur to you when you say "OMG! I went to the dentist.. and.. my boyfriend broke up with me... and... Oh woe is me!' ....people don't know how to respond to that.... I don't, personally.

...Before this could be a 100 page book... 3T is out. Peace.
