Ever since I started drawing (which was eons ago), I've always wondered why people have been comming up with their own Original Characters. I know that they're based off characters in a story, video game, movie, etc. But why do it? I'm not being a hypocrite or anything; I, too, have three OC's myself. And I also know that almost everyone here has at least visualized themselves in a form they know they're not. In my honest opinion, OC's are merely daydreams sketched out on paper.
All of you, please understand that I'm not saying this against anyone having their own Original Characters. I am only pondering a question that's been on my mind for so long.

I come up with tons of characters, they just pop into my head like magic O_O I never base my characters on one thing, usually i get all my ideas by all those different things i have seen, since everything in art has already been discovered and almost style already done now all you can do is look at all those styles and make you own stuff out of it.

Um, nanomie, they say you are good because, like you said "they are your friends" Im not saying you aren't good at drawing but usually friends say you are good even if you are bad, just because they are your friend.
I looked at a Baltosource gallery that had your name on it, and i saw you saying your drawings sucked.

Well, I don't draw any anime or manga -- not that I'm not interested, but it's just "not my thing", y'know? I'd be lucky even to draw a stick figure with correct proportions. I change the eye style of most of my characters, then I call it anime. WHOOO!!!
N.E.wA.z, Nanomie, I know you rock at drawing dragons, but I'm just now starting to get into it. Life-like dragons are too tough for me, so I mainly do it with that cortoony-look. So this is one of my dragon OCs, well, actually my ONLY dragon OC:

I haven't yet thought of a name for him yet. But he's an electrical dragon; newly hatched, and only 172 years old!! I'm open for suggestions for his name.

I should have known Electrical dragon was what you got for the quiz thing right? Its not suprising you'd do a electrical dragon as your OC. I do like it,it looks cute, but the eys are a bit too cartoony for my like.
XD, by the way Realistic dragons are easier to draw, you can hide all your mistakes in a crapload of random details. I am no dragon expert, but i think you shoudl have added the other wing in the back just to have a sense of symmetry.

As for the eyes, I thought they were a little plain too. But with that smile that's on his face, I have yet to come up with a suitable eye design that will fit the overall expression. You think? Hmm. Well, details are usually the parts wher I make ALL my mistakes. LOL!! It's wierd. Right after I went over the lines in pen, I suddenly thought, "OH, ****!! I FORGOT THE OTHER WING!!" I should at least add a few lines in between his mane and other wing, huh?
Besides that, the otherr reason why I'd stink, I mean, suck at life-like dragons is that I mainly do line art. I don't color my pics.
BTW, did you think of a name for this dragon?

Oh that's okay. I have this whole list of possible names you'll laugh at anyway. Seriously. Some of the suggestions are pretty hilarious!! So hilarious, in fact, that I might just pick them!!

Ooh!!!! How bout Smirnoff? Or Belholl? Or Dudan? Or Linquash? or Spegel? Or Garne, Parne, and Darne! Ogule, Fernre, Jeida, Keeda, Gebset!, Vackul. Believe it or not, each name required one second to write and zero brain power to think up.
