The Battle of Gettysburg was fought on July 1st-3rd, 1863 during the American Civil War. 51,000 men became casualties of war, around 10-11,000 people were killed during the battle itself, many were either experienced soldiers who had been in the army for a few years to fresh recruits whom many were very young. Gettysburg marks the bloodiest battle fought on American soil. Today Gettysburg is hallowed ground covered in many monuments to the various units from different states that mark where each regiment fought and to honor the sacrifices of the men both blue and gray. Many believe that Gettysburg is also the most haunted location in the United States. Not only the woods and the fields that saw some of the most brutal fighting imaginable but also the town of Gettysburg itself. Many men are still buried on the battlefield where they fell and not all were dug up and laid to rest within the boundries of the national cementary.
I have been to the battlefield 7 times and not once have I see a ghost or phantom of any kind or description, but one doesn't have to have a sixth sense in order to feel something at Gettysburg. The air itself is charged with emotion and the very ground seems to be scared in some way. At night the battlefield takes on a different feel to it, it becomes very scary. So does anyone believe Gettysburg is haunted? And do you or do you know someone who has had encounters with the ghosts of Gettysburg?
