Well, that specific moment of the movie was focused on the pups, not on what Balto did in the past and, afterall, they had already praised him in the end of the first movie so, some time before, according to the timeline. Why should they have praised him in that moment? It was the pups' scene, not Balto's or Jenna's, I think it's normal nobody payed much attention on him, he wasn't up for adoption like the pups

Well, let's look into a realistic life (even though it doesn't really appeal to Balto as it's anthropomorphic movie xD)... It was probably still 1925 winter when Balto and Jenna got together and mated (well, it's really up to fans when have they mated, cause it wasn't told in the movie xD) ...So, if I'm right, female dog's stay pregnant for what? 3...or...6 months? My brain despises remembering xD So, it might already be spring when it happens, and till that, I think that every single person had time to thank Balto xD So...Yeah xD

Sorry for being offtopic, but a dog's gestation period is about 61 days ;3 Thought I'd just add that slight burst of knowledge cx

How many times have you seen a puppy (or puppies) and gone "Awwwwww! :'DDD" and not even realized there was an adult dog with it? xD
They were mostly children looking at the puppies which makes sense that they'd pay more attention to the pups. The adults were mostly supervising the children. Not to mention that scene mostly focused on the puppies, we never really saw what was happening off-screen. Someone could have spoken to Balto then. (Of course it's only an animated movie and if they did they'd likely have shown it but if they had it would have detracted from the scene itself and made no real sense.)

Yeah I have always maintained that the puppy scene in Balto 2 was really kind of strange because of that. In the context of the Balto movie, Balto was a massive hero. He saved the entire town from an epidemic.
People would be lining up around the block for just a chance to own one of Balto's puppies. They wouldn't have to set up a box in the middle of town, people would be camping out in front of Jenna's house, waiting till the pups were 8 weeks old.
Of course they had to do it that way in the movie, because the plot revolved around Aleu being an outsider. But it still goes against everything that the first movie set up.

I actually didn't find it that odd. I, for one, would never even think about adopting a wolf/dog, even if their father was a hero. EVER. Has no one thought of that part of it? Yes, I find it a little odd, I guess, that no one said anything to Balto, but seeing as it was mostly children looking at the puppies... Children like puppies. That isn't rocket science. Well for one thing the puppies were only a quarter wolf. For another, Balto had pretty definitively dismissed the idea that half wolves were dangerous. Again, this is in the context of the movie, not reality. For another thing, nobody had any problems adopting the other puppies, which were just as much wolf as Aleu was. They didn't go into that in the movie either, but if they knew Balto was half wolf (and everybody did), then they knew his puppies were quarter wolf.
The movie explained it in the context of Aleu's appearance, but that didn't make any sense either. Actual thinking people would know that all the puppies have the same amount of wolf in them, generally speaking. And finally, Balto was the town hero. The adults knew it, the kids knew it, everybody knew it. In that context, nobody would ever think twice about adopting one of his puppies.
Yes, that scene was not accurate in a realistic sense, but it's a fictional movie. I'm just saying that if they had stayed inside the context of the first movie, that adoption scene would have played out a lot differently. Incongruities like that bother me, I can't help it. But I do understand why they did it that way.
