That's an advance trick. You'll first need to teach your dog "sit" and "jump" and have the dog familiar with the two commands. To get the backflip you need to command your dog to sit then command it to jump while it's sitting.
It takes a few tries do get it right, so keep trying.

All the breeds are available in all the games. Normally you can unlock them by getting an amount of Owner Points (Trainer Points).
There's also another method in which you interact with a friend's dog. If that dog happens to be a dog that you don't have unlocked yet, then it will be unlocked and available at the pet shop.
There are two breed of dogs that you need to find a specific item. The breed will be available at the pet shop just by having that item.
(Dalmatian needs Fireman's hat, Jack Russel Terrier needs Jack Russel Book)
Specifically for your version, Basil, you need 45,000Trainer Points to unlock the Chihuahua.

I have a GSD named Travis(I wonder who that is named after, hmmm? .  I bet Caramello knows. =P)
And, he does all kinds of stuff. ;D I just gotta get my game working again. =( It's being mean .D:
He knows.. well, all kinds of tricks. Sit.. Beg..Lie Down..Roll over..Gimme a paw. I am proud of em!
He's my only dog, btw... Besides my Golden Retriever. My golden was the first dog I had ever. So I could never get rid of her! =D
