John Lennon and the Beatles were undoubtly the biggest and most influential rock band of all time. John Lennon was shot and killed by a man named Mark David Chapman outside of the The Dakota Hotel on December 8th, 1980. Chapman was a deranged man who believed his life mirrored that of Holden Caulfield in the book The Catcher in the Rye. When asked what he had done Chapman said, "Yes, I just shot John Lennon." Chapman was angered by John Lennon's comment, "Christianity will go. It will vanish and shrink. I needn't argue with that; I'm right and I will be proved right. We're more popular than Jesus now; I don't know which will go first - rock and roll or Christianity." John died later at the hospital after losing 80% of his blood. Mark was convicted of second degree murder and now resides in the Attica State Prison in Upstate New York.

John was a man who strived to make peace in a world that was torn by chaos. He will always be remembered by his legions of fans and admirers. So how has John Lennon influenced your life?
