My family or at least my father and two brothers recently went to Cleveland Ohio. The point for me being able to see Balto at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History. These are my entries in my journal that I am going to share with everyone.

My family finally arrived at a Country Inn and Suites after a twelve hour ride from Vermont. It is really hot outside and I feel like crap. I should go jump in the pool.
Well I just got back from the pool and I feel alittle better. But my face is really pale and since we are going to eat at Chili's I doubt I will feel any better. Tonight we are going to a Cleveland Indians game and I don't really want to go. Well my father and brothers went to the game leaving me at the hotel, I am going to sleep and hope I feel better before going to the museum to see Balto, I cannot wait!!

The thunder storm last night must have cooled things down. I feel much better than I did yesterday, I cannot wait to see Balto, it's going to be so awesome. Tonight we are also going to another baseball game and it should be fun.

The baseball game was excellent and really fun. I had a great time with my Dad and it will be great when we arrive home. The museum yesterday left me with mixed feelings. On the one hand the dinosaur fossils and other exhibits were interesting I really wanted to see Balto. Where he was in the museum was really remote, no one was visiting him at all. There wasn't even an exhibit on the serum run or the events surrounding the reason Balto was famous. Balto was tucked away in this remote corner of the museum near a display of wild animals like penguins and monkeys. In front of the case he was in was a timeline of the periods of the dinosaurs leading to the rise of man. Next to Balto was a very small TV that had stock footage of Balto arriving in Nome and his tour of New York City and his arrival in Cleveland after he and the rest of the dogs were purchased. There was also a few minutes devoted to Togo but other than that nothing on the serum run. I was sad to see this hero placed almost as an afterthought in this museum. There was no exhibit on the events around the serum run or Balto's role in it. If it hadn't been for what little of information that was on the TV you wouldn't have known who Balto even was. All that would have named him was his name placard which read
"Balto Siberian Husky 1919-1933."
There were many people who walked past him and only gave him one look before proceeding into other parts of the museum. To them he was just another dog and nothing special. This grave error needs to be corrected. I did purchase a few items from the museum including a long sleeve shirt with Balto on it, a bean bag plushie of Balto and a postcard.
