This is a new series by the creators of the original Avatar series. Korra is the next Avatar after Aang and she is from the Southern Water Tribe, she learns airbending from Aang and Katara's son named Tenzin. So what do you think?

Sounds interesting, considering I've started watching Avatar: TLA lately. Do you know if there's a trailer for the new series?

I have never watched the original Avatar series, but it's still a good news nonetheless, because

- that's the only show from Nickelodeon that LOOKS good and seem to be more than just comical or for preschoolers,

- Nickelodeon has said they would be only doing CGI series from now on, yet this new project is 2D animation.

If you have cablevision IO, try channel 122 to check out Avatar: TLA.

The story's very well done too. I can't wait for this new series.

The movie seems to ruin it.

I'm looking forward to this. It would be nice to have a good female lead (for once)

I can't wait. I've watched all of the Avatar episodes, many of them more than once. It'll be interesting to have a new cast of characters, but of course, I will miss the old cast. Toph, with her witty, sarcastic comments, Sokka, with his corny jokes and love of food, Aang, with his good nature and love of fun, and of course, motherly Katara. And then Momo and Appa. You can never forget a flying bison or lemur. XD

I cannot WAIT for this. Avatar: The Last Airbender was, IMO, one of the best shows to air on TV in the last 10 years. Everything about it was great. Everything. And it is really hard to say that about any show on TV these days, or any movie.

The story was fantastic, the way is was broken down into books per season was awesome, the character development was seriously almost second to none. The plot and dialogue was really, really good, the voice acting was amazing, and the animation style was really good too. I have rarely seen anything as good as this show, and I was sad when it ended.

I am looking forward to the new one, but simply because of how completely excellent in every way the original series was, I can't see how it would be able to measure up. Still, they have the same creators and writers working on it so here's hoping. Regardless, I will definitely be watching it.

I almost entirely agree with you here ^.^ I think the only thing I really didn't like about A: TLA was the Kataang ending. Yes folks, you heard right: Aniu ships Zutara.

Hey if you let me, I will rave about The Last Airbender for 20,000 words. In addition to the other things I mentioned, it had such a tight, intricate and well planned plot - I mean the entire thing, all three years of it, was planned out in advance. The care with which it was brought to the screen was just...

Look, let's just say I wish I could write even half as well as these guys can. I would KILL to be able to write half as well as they can.

I hadn't ever heard of this until i was browsing the forums. That was honestly a surprise. I mean.... such a good show. I thought they might respect the excellent work that was done on it and agree it didn't need a spin-off show to ruin the original. As you said, it's the original team or writers working on the show. So, i guess that gives it some hope of turning out okay.

My only concern is what's this one going to be about. In TLA Aang had to master all four elements and defeat the firelord before that comet passed in order to put a stop to the war. Well... is there going to be another war going on? That's what the Avatar exists for right? To put the world at peace in times of war?
I can't really say that i know all about the show. I've missed most of the show including all of Book 3. But i think i saw enough of it to get the gist of the show. Believe me, as soon as i find a way to watch what i missed of the show im gunna catch up.

Aniu: Personally, it didn't seem like Zuko had much interest in Katara. Unless there was something in Book 3, it seemed through out the entire show they were hinting at a Aang/Katara ending. When they started the show they did intend of a Zuko/Katara thing but at some point they changed their mind about that apparently. I remember one episode with the fortunteller. She told Katara she would fall in love with a very powerful bender. To me, that just sounded like she was talking about Aang.

This was an absolute surprise for me as well. Though I did have a hunch that the creators of A:TLA wouldn't just end the show and leave us hanging for the rest of our lives. I'm especially excited for the new show because:

1. The creators said the show is going to be more "mature" than the original show. I'm not talking about more violence, blood, or anything like that, just more mature subjects, probably relating to young adults more. And since all they show on nickelodeon now is goofy, annoying little kid shows, I think this is a way to bring the teenage audience back.

2. Most of the animation crew/staff that worked on the A:TLA is back again to do the Legend of Korra. Even Dante Basco, the voice of Zuko, is voicing a char in the new series, but no one knows who, yet. (though that may be confusing when I watch a new character with a Zuko voice.)

3. And most importantly, it just looks interesting. I mean, c'mon! Who isn't curious to see the
avatar world around 70 years in the future, and with all its new changes! Plus, it's a GIRL avatar
this time. Whoo hoo! Girls rule!

If you want more information about the new show, here's a website dedicated entirely to avatar. www.avatarspirit.net

It's going to be hard getting used to a new Avatar series, with all the new characters and whatnot, but I'm curious to see if this one has as much action and humor as TLA did. Also, having Dante Basco as a Zuko descendant will be interesting, since Zuko was one of my favorite characters.

I loved Zuko's voice...it satisfies me to hear he'll be coming back. ^^
