I have looked through the rant board and lots of other categories today, checking up some old stuff. And I have noticed that alot of the older and more mature members, who have more experiance here on AS is being quite hard on the newbies.

I know that it is annoying when some little kid starts throwing a fit about something ridiculous.

But that doesn't mean that you can go and blame newbies and teenagers for being what they are. Newbies and teenagers. I just think that it is strange that if one do it, you think that everyone is like that.

I mean, I consider myself as one of the more experienced members (sorry for sounding cocky) sense I have been here for more then a year. What I am saying is that everybody has sometime been a frustrated little teenager that hates the world and is angry at everybody.

I know that everyone will come and bash me for this now "your the one to talk! your only 12!" all the ones that have more stars then me, I respect and obey. I will listen to all you have to say, if you agree or disagree.

I, for one, won't bash you at all. I actually agree. I have made comments before that make it seem like I'm a person like that, but that wasn't my meaning at all. I just didn't word it correctly. Alot of members do blame all newbies and teenagers for being immature. Sadly, most are like that, but not all are. And those newbies and teenagers don't deserve to be blamed for others mistakes and outbursts.

Some members may not actually be blaming all newbies and teens though, they just mean in general. It is a bit quicker to type 'newbies are mainly immature' than 'most newbies in general can be immature'.

People still think I am a newbie but I am not since some of the older members think I am immature for fighting back when insulted. I agree people automatically "think"cause they are more experienced member like myself like picking on newbies. I on the other hand love to make some friends with newer people to be honest but some new member also like to cause trouble which becomes trolling or disrespecting older people on her and mods^^

It is a matter of hierarki basically. Those who has been here longer has more authority then the younger.

I don't really tell who's been here longer, if I see someone whinning and making trouble, I naturally assume they are new. It's not a good thing, but most of the time it's either a whinny member, or a newbie. (The fights I see)

I can agree with you on this. Some members just about eat the life out of them. And people sit here and wonder why they deleted their account or went inactive.I've been here long enough to see them come and go.

Eh, maturity shows up in time. I am sure some don't take it to the heart and actually "get where they're coming from"-thing. Wording is the key. It all depends on the wording. Sorta take it or leave it dealio. Yeah, it's true that this is a kids' site and some of us need to be more "mild" (so to speak). But at the same time we're not their guards/parents.

I agree with you there, however, but hey, people will always be people. :P

Some newbies, especially those who CONTINUE to repeat their mistakes, need to be spoken to that way or else they'll NEVER learn. That's my opinion.

They'll also NEVER learn if you notify them in a HARSH tone. ;] You don't need to scare someone off in order to help them learn from their mistakes. Just let them know nicely, this rant topic isn't saying we should ignore newbies. People have been very harsh to newbies lately though.

Everybody here was a newbie once, just because you have more seniority than newbies doesn't mean you have the right to boss someone around. Set up a good example for younger audiences. You've had to learn from the same mistakes they have yet to learn. Being an older member is good, because you can help guide newer members and help them out. This will also make them feel a heck of a lot more welcome, by far.

Well, i think half of them deserve it. I've been here to 5 years, and nubes are not that hard to miss. I don't think the more expereince members are being "harsh", we simply telling them how to be less annoying, immature, or whatever the case may be.
I understand that its tough being the new guy of the block, but thats no excuse to be an idiot either.

Agreed, they don't have to act all butt hurt when something doesn't go their way.

Although I agree many new people who keep at it again and again deserve a harsh tone, I think there are members jumping to conclusions and judging too quickly at newbies. Not all newbies continue to make mistakes, once or twice is very reasonable. If someone is being annoying and not listening to people's advice all the time then by all means yes a harsh tone should be added to grab their attention. I've rarely seen something like that happen in a while though, trolls and such who joined the site to do nothing but wrong. There's many people assuming someone's a troll for not posting topics in the same section.. Or asking a question on the forum when they could ask it on the site.

Ah, I know what you mean. I agree and disagree at the same time. I'll explain why -

I agree that older members shouldn't let the length of time they've been on the site go to their head. But, on the bright side sometimes it can be a good thing. I remember when I joined this site a few years ago and I was probably, once too an 'annoying newbie' xD Looking back to when I first joined I regret I must have been irritating with stupid questions/posts/turtle talk/'spam'. But at the end of the day, this was the very first website I joined and I was young and not used to socialising with people over the internet. From the mistakes I made and some constant nagging from older members (xD) I soon learnt what to do and what not to do... and I feel a lot more mature and confident chatting to people over forums and shoutboxes. Bigger wasn't always nice to the littler, but at the end of the day it still helped me. Just as long as older members remember to point the 'newbies' in the right direction, and not to insult or ridicule them.

What people need to remember is that these are fansites for fans. It doesn't matter when you watched the film/series, how many times you've watched them, how much fan art you've made or how many Balto/ Lion King mugs you've bought. It doesn't matter if you're a teenager or an adult, old, new, borrowed or blue. This is a society where everyone is equal and everyone should be treated fairly - no matter who they are. :salut:
