There's thousands of horror movies in the world, and there are people who have seen over a hundred horror movies. I, for one, don't watch much horror movies. I'm in to drama and romance. I've seen a few though. These are the ones I've seen:

-Signs
-Infestation (I thought this movie was terrible. :/ )
-Pandemic (Recently saw that. It was REALLY good, although my friend said it was really stupid and she didn't like it. I liked it because of the drama, it wasn't really scary though.)
-Amityville Horror (I think that's how it's spelled.)
-Zombieland (That was kind of comedy mixed with horror. Really good movie.)
-The Breed (I thought this movie was terrible as well. :/ )

Hahaha, thank you for posting this topic. Horror films are my favorite (As you can tell). I like A LOT, especially from the 80s. So here we go, my favorite Horror movies:

most of the Friday the 13th films, most of the Nightmare on Elm St. films, Halloween 1 and 2, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, An American Werewolf In London, Dog Soldiers, The Wolf Man (1941), Creepshow, Re-Animator, Dead Snow, Cannibal Holocaust, Poltergeist, The Thing, Pumpkinhead, Dead Alive, Night of the Living Dead, They live, 'Salem's Lot, Return of the Living Dead, Basketcase, Zombie (AKA Zombi 2), Children of the Corn, The Shining, Alien, Aliens, Predator, The Exorcist, Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2, Army of Darkness, Hellraiser.

I'm pretty sure I like more but I can't think of them off the top of my head. There are some I haven't seen yet but want to. One's Re-Animator and the others are the Coffin Joe movies that come from Brazil.

The horror movie genre is in my opinion effictively dead. While horror movies are cranked out every year by the dozens very few of them are good. They tend to be either extremely gory with no plot or rely on peoples fears to generate a reaction. Most tend to fall into four genres that include Supernatural Horrors, Zombie Apocalypse Horrors, and Psycho Knife Welding Maniac killing teenagers, or they claim to be true stories but are actually fake.

Examples

Supernatural Horrors

The Omen (2006) a remake of a 1970's supernatural horror
The Messengers (2007)
The Haunting of Molly Hartley (2008)
The Last Exorcism (2010)
Drag Me To Hell (2009)
The Haunting in Connecticut (2009) This film not only is a supernatural horror but it claims to be based on an actual event.

Zombie Apocalypse

28 Weeks Later (2007)
I Am Legend (2007)
Resident Evil: Extinction (2007)
Day of the Dead (2008)
Dawn of the Dead (2004)
Edge of Darkness (2009)

Psycho Movies

Halloween (2007) Remake of the Michael Myers series
Friday the 13th (2009)
Halloween 2 (2009) by Rob Zombie
The Last House on the Left (2009) A remake of a really controversal movie from the 70's

Claimed Real Event Movies

Paranormal Activity (2009)
The Fourth Kind (2009) supposedly takes place in Nome but looks nothing like the real Nome.

The point of all of this is that horror movies these days are bloated over the top films that really have no plot at all. Some are even just down right stupid like Mega Shark VS Giant Octopus or Piranha a 2010 rip off of Jaws. Also many movies like Saw series have grown so large that each film is trying to out do the other on how violently people can die. I think they pretty much have come up with every possible way. The horror movies that I think are generally scary are the ones that make you think like Jacob's Ladder or Event Horizon. Horror however thrives in video games and some one of the scariest being Dead Space.

My taste in horror movies is lame. Well at least to most. I think it's freaking awesome.

I love the corny old horror movies. From like the black and white to silent film days. But having an undying obsession with werewolves, I'll watch anything with a lycanthrope in it! >8]

Sometimes I'll watch something with vampires, or Resident Evil, Halloween, and the like.

...cause I liek blud.

I'm not much of a horror movie fan. I'm not too fond of watching a movie that's going to scare the heck out of me. And I scare easily, soo... x] But there are a few that I rather enjoy.

My favorite by far is the Resident Evil movies (Resident Evil, RE: Apocalypse, RE: Extinction & RE: Afterlife). I really liked Zombieland as well - though I guess that's a fun mix of comedy/horror. The Mist is a rather good horror movie as well. (Did not like the ending however. -.-) That is probably the only Stephen King movie I actually enjoy, though. :[ He's a little too "messed up" for my taste. And for vampire horror movies, I actually liked 30 Days of Night, which was much to my suprise. I really loved how the vampires were done. Daybreakers is another vamp-movie favorite.

There are a lot of other horror movies I have seen, or at least in part. Most of them I can't remember the names, to, though. Lol.

Just because my parents and all my friends are into the horror movies, i've seen countless horror films. They're all pretty much the same and they're incredibly predictable. I haven't seen a horror movie that was truly good yet. Ill give Zombieland some credit for being a bit different. It wasn't so much about trying to stop the zombies or anything like the rest of the zombie movies are about. This one was just about trying to survive it and trying to find twinkies. :)

I think that's part of why I don't much like horror movies - them being predictable. xD Even in Zombieland when they intoduced the girls I knew the boy was going to fall for the older girl. (Can't remember any of their names. .-.) But I did enjoy that that movie wasn't all about people getting eaten by the zombies - it was about just trying to make it in 'Zombieland'. Lol.

And I really liked Resident Evil : Extinction (obvioulsy rofl) because, unlike a LOT of zombie movies out there, it took place during the day time and they still managed to make it scary to a point. (Shush, it was kinda scary to me the first time I watched it. I'm a whimp). Plus, the characters are really cool in that movie in my opinion.
