George Lucas the creator of Star Wars and founder of Lucasfilm LTD, is probably one of the most influential people within the last 40 years. His impact on Hollywood and the entertainment business are quite clear but there are a few things that most people may not know about how he has influenced movies right up to present day
Pixar Animation Studios: Founded in 1979 and originally called Graphics Group. Pixar started out as apart of Lucasfilm LTD, they pioneered the usage of computer animation. Purchased in 1986 by Steve Jobs they have continued to advance the usage of computer technology in films. Without Mr. Lucas we wouldn't have films like Toy Story, Cars, The Incredibles, Monsters Inc, etc.
THX: At the beginning of most Hollywood movies these days you will usually see these words appear on the screen before the movie starts. Created in 1983, to improve the sound on the Return of the Jedi. THX continues to provide quality sound for major motion pictures otherwise the sound quality would be worthless.
I.L.M or Industrial Light and Magic: Created in 1975 to create effects for all three of the original Star Wars films. Today there isn't a film released that doesn't rely on ILM to create fascinating visual effects for movies. Some of the movies they have worked on include not only all six of the Star Wars films but also Jurassic Park, The Indiana Jones, E.T., Terminator 2, Titanic, The Harry Potter franchise, AVATAR, and some of their most important work as far as this site is concerned all the special effects for all of the Balto films were done by ILM. Recently you can see their wonderful work in the film Iron Man 2 and next month in The Last Airbender.
Skywalker Sound: Founded around the sametime as ILM, they provide the sound effects for many of the films George Lucas decides to do. But also they have provided the sound effects for The Simpsons tv show and the movie. Some of the other projects they have been involved with include: The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, King Kong, Forrest Gump, and Titan A.E.
So everytime you either watch a film made by Pixar or admire the visual effects in your favorite movie. Just remember to thank George Lucas for creating these wonderful companies that have brought enjoyment for millions. Funny how one man can change the world we live in?

Yes George Lucas has created several companies we're all thankful for but it bothered me when he made all those changes to the StarWars trilogy. Ah well, still a great man who's accomplished a lot.

ahh yes George Lucas, the man who if not challenged on episodes 4-6 Star Wars, would have ruined them and then when the time for episodes 1-3 came about he did infact ruin them as no one would dare challenge him now on the terrible stuff he put in those movies and the fact that none of it made sense. I suggest watching this, guy doing a review on episodes 1 and 2 of Star Wars. Each review per episode lasts an hour. But its well worth the watch. Episode 1 (Part1)- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxKtZmQg ... re=relatedEpisode 2 (Part1)- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CfBhi6qqFLAEpisode 3 (Part1)- (Coming soon...hopefully) (And incase you didnt realise, that voice the review guy is doing is meant to be a put on, its not how he really sounds)
