Good day everyone, well, today I tried to make a character on TLKS, I typed the name in the 'search' thing in the character section. It had a character with that name, I clicked on it and it said: 'character is deactivated', so I tried went to make make her a page.
(Luckily, I copied the text I typed before sending it in) But when I hit 'send' it said told me a character with the same name was already up.
OK, I don't know about you, but that just made me a little mad, what if I hadn't copied it? I would've had to type it all over again.
"NO YOU WOULDN'T! THEY FIXED IT!!!"
Oh really? Well when I went back to send it again, ALL my information was GONE. Yeah, GONE.
I don't know if anyone else has had any problems with this, but It's happened to me quite a few times.
Sorry if there is already a topic about this. If there is, please, in a KIND way, tell me and I will ask for a mod to lock this.

This happened to me a lot, the "Sorry, another char has that name" and the information disappeared...it's really annoyed, it was going to happen to me on ADGTHS but I decided to change the name in the last moments so, I was safe xD but after all, the point is, why we can't name a character with a specifical name because another char (DEACTIVATED) has it? I think the deactivated chars shouldn't influence the soon-to-be-activated- or the already activated ones, there is a reason if they were deactivated.

It would cause quite the furore(sp?).

I mean, it's simple, if the character is deactivated, then why should the name still cause others to not use that name?

Because then the member has no possible chance to revise the character and get them activated again. It's not really fair, and steet won't do it.

What Cobalt said, they may be deactivated now but just because it's deactivated doesn't mean the owner isn't fixing it so it can be active.

Couldn't we just allow some characters names to be the same.

I honestly think its just that people dont like to put stuff with thier character's names on the search bar like for example (random name):
**Dingo *Dingo Dingo (KOLTON'S DINGO) Dingo (Kolton) Dingo.. Dingo.... DINGO*****
Ive seen some pretty bad ones (consitering that Dingo is a popular name for Balto's son) but I think this is what the people hate. I dont like doing it but I have to if I want the name, otherwise I'd change it. But if the character is disactivated for a really long time I dont see why the name should matter...or why the page is still there to begin with. Not the mods fault ethier, maybe the people are too lazy to manage thier characters I dunno.

Yeah, I know. I know that there are alot of characters that are disactivated with names that other users who would use them (and users who WILL use them), but cant since the disactivated character is just sitting there. Well maybe if we just PM the people to fix it depending on how they'll use it but certainly not forceing them to delete it or anything.
and another thing, how come we cant all have the names we want? Like instead of fighting over a name wouldnt it be easier just to put a name and it works? Like if we search ''Mike'' There would be like 4 mikes lets say but all named ''Mike'' With no trouble with the symbols or the disactivation. That would be a better way to solve this. I know that some people will be all like ''hey you stole my name!'' but they would just have to deal cuz you cant own a name unless the name is like 10 lets long then...o_o' just ideas

Sorry I havn't checked this in a while, guys...
I like what most of you are saying 'why can't we just use the same name? Without having to put symbols and other things?'
OK, sure, people will start to take advantage (sp?) of that rule by useing the name of a very popular character. BUT we ALL KNOW that it's most likely just a LAME RIP OFF. Now we won't be able to get them for anyting unless the personality (or other specil things about said character_) is almost (if not identical) the same to the original character. Sadly not everyone has creativity.
But there ae some names that are going to be used over and over and over and over again, like Dakota, Dingo, Angel, Rose, Saba, etc. And it gets REALLY annoying when you search for a character, and all those little symbols tak up space. Example:
Dakota. Dakota(Username goes here) Dakota* *Dakota Dakota(mine) Dakota_ **Dakota Dakota, DAKOTA! DaKoTa (chars other name like 'Kota')Dakota Dakota (my)Dakota
Now wouldn't it take up time looking at every headshot with all those letters/symbols when your just looking for one character?

Starfire_ wrote: Yeah it does get annoying with same name for different characters but you should be able to create your own page for one of Balto's daughters or sons that is fine but another name liks Angel, why not make it Angelina or something like that? I did that with my char Rocky. If I got right what you were saying, others chars had the name "Rocky" and I didn't want to make a page of a char with a name already used so, I re-named the char "Ricardo" and I kept "Rocky as a nickname...
