I've been able to trace movies I saw as a child rather well for the most part, but this one is near impossible!! I just can't remember what it was called!! But I remember a lot of details!!
The main characters were squirrels or chipmunks or something. The entire plot was their journey to a tranquil land that was safe from predators. I don't remember the boy squirrel's name but the girl squirrel's name was Nono. The boy squirrel met Nono in a zoo and Nono's mother had told her about the land right before she died. (a very sad scene actually) The squirrels eventually make it to the land but a fox attacked them. The fox was killed though when it dived off a cliff and all the squirrels were able to live peacefully. It was sort of a....graphic, intense little movie for children, I thought. Because the predators (fox and there was a cat) were very scary and there were a few deaths and I think there was blood in a scene or two. So I'm convinced this couldn't have been made in America. XD Nono sounds like a Japanese name but I've looked ALL OVER anime databases and found absolutely nothing!! I'm reasonably sure the film was made in the 70s or 80s. Possibly before that.
Does anyone here recall this movie?
The movie is called The Enchanted Journey.
