I know we all have to live our lives and such, so why should we give mods a break by not pestering them so much to do thier job,but have our newly developed characters deactivated cause we are busy too?I mean we should be respected an not have deactivated characters just cause us membes are busy too like mods. Does anyone agree with this? When I go to use the character when I finally have time to do so, it's been deactivated! It makes me upset....

Sometimes my characters are deactivated for stupid reasons, such as "The head picture isn't from the body picture" or "Pup doesn't look like parents".

To be honest, it seems rather pointless to create a character page when you have nothing made of said character. All my characters are created in my sketches, ideas which I've jotted down, sometimes stories I've written quickly to get their basic info down - all before I even make a reference image, let alone make a character page here. Despite the fact I've not made many character pages here, all my Balto(or whatever) related characters existed before I made a character page. The only character which doesn't have a new image made of it is Adanàdo on Spirit Source because the first drawing must be an official character and I've not drawn a newer image of any official Spirit character (because I fail at horses) thus can't upload his drawing here yet. The reason the characters pages end up so full so quickly is people creating character profiles every few minutes with a lineart or rendered image, slapping down a story and then moving on to a new character before they do anything with the previous character. Fictions, for example, can easily have more than one character in but no one seems to bother writing one before making the character pages. 1 month is adequate time to do something with a new character. EDIT:// I'll also add here that a head image doesn't have to be from the full body image (infact I think it's even encouraged that it's different (?) ) so that is indeed a silly reason for a character to be deactivated, I'd suggest PMing the mod who deactivated it in that case and if you get nowhere, PM the lead mod. I can understand why it'd be deactivated if the parents were listed as Balto & Jenna but the character looked like this {click}, as a very general example, but otherwise I don't see why it would. Again, PMing the mod would be the best course of action and again, if you get nowhere, PMing the lead mod.

Well, it's best to talk to a mod about this - But I haven't had this problem, mainly because I get all of my stuff together (information) and send it in at one time, I usually update it every now and then. I don't know if your talking about new art/images, but you have to show them that you are going to use the character, even if it means sending in whatever render/art/line art you used for the character page. And yes, renders/lineart/ are accepted. If they are NOT badly colored. Again, the BEST thing you can do, is talking to a mod.

Renders are, coloured in linearts usually are as long as they're obviously not blank - it can't be a character if it's blank (I have seen that btw) and as long as they're linked to the character's page then the character will remain active and won't be deactivated for no-use.

Characters that aren't featured in any of your own galleries are automatically deactivated after a few weeks. Thats not a manual action, thats the system. We'd have no way of telling it ourselves. All you have to do is PM a character mod for it to be reactivated after you send in the feature. But you must send in the art/image/fanfiction first before it will be reactivated.
As for the bit on the icon having to be from the full body...what? When was this rule started? That makes no sense to me. As long as its an accurate head-shot that matches the character's markings and colors, its fine.

Yeah, and I couldn't activate my character so i had no choice but to delete it, because no matter what I did I couldn't activate it >.< I hate when people judge just according to what THEY like in a character and not what's required.

The fan character part of the site is easily the fastest growing section. Mods have to look at the pictures, read the bio (some can get up to like 3 pages long) and then decide whether this is a quality fan character you intend to use or not. So naturally, it will take time for the mods to get to your character. I would much rather have a mod make sure that good original characters get in and cookie-cutter ugly wolves with no thought put into them stay out then to have a mod take one look and say "It's good" and flood the entire character section with crappy characters. {Paws} Mü†å†îøñ wrote: Yeah, and I couldn't activate my character so i had no choice but to delete it, because no matter what I did I couldn't activate it >.< I hate when people judge just according to what THEY like in a character and not what's required. Did you ask flat out "what do I have to do to get it activated?" That takes out all the guesswork and you can make edits accordingly.

Actually, I did So that's why i don't understand. The mod said the head shot MUST be from the body shot. Hmm...*looks through rulebook* doesn't seem to be in here....

That's because that's not a rule. I'd suggest PMing Draco (who's lead characters mod) and let her know which mod said that so she can correct them.

I made a character called Sabrae....it took me forever to get her activated. Once for my own mistake, but I corrected it. I sent her in, like three times afterwards, but it kept de-activating her, saying 'Give credit to who drew the lines'. But I did.... Eventually, I got her activated, but it was still annoying.

I got that "head picture isn't from the body picture just today", and I instantly pm'd the mod. The character rules actually says to make sure they're different pictures, and I don't see why it should even matter! It's just... dumb.. -__- I'm getting so freakin sick of the fan character section now. ESPECIALLY as all fan images HAVE to involve characters with a page. Why?? I think we should get rid of the fan character section - or atleast sort out the rules properly. It was so much easier when there was no such thing.
