A short message from Defenders of Wildlife, this is mainly concerning the Americans on this board. Dear reader,
This Wednesday, Discovery Communications shareholders will meet at their headquarters in Silver Spring, Maryland.
You can literally lend your voice to the growing chorus demanding that the network pull the plug on Sarah Palin’s Alaska -- a new show giving the former Alaska governor a golden opportunity to greenwash her anti-wildlife and anti-conservation record. The shareholder’s meeting is today -- so please call now!
Please call (240) 662-2000 today between the hours of 8:30 AM and 6:00 PM Eastern. To ensure your voice is heard, press 0 immediately to be transferred to an operator and deliver this important message in your own words:
“My name is [NAME] and I’m calling from [YOUR STATE]. As someone who cares about wildlife, the environment and responsible TV programming, I am extremely disappointed in Discovery Communications' decision to broadcast Sarah Palin's Alaska.
[Please indicate which Discovery TV stations you watch, if any--e.g., TLC, Animal Planet, the Discovery Channel, the Science Channel or the Military Channel.]
Providing this platform for Palin will either feature her extreme anti-wildlife and anti-conservation views or greenwash her reputation. This undermines Discovery's credibility and flies in the face of the reputation for quality wildlife programming that the company has worked so hard to build. Please pull the plug on Sarah Palin's Alaska immediately. Thank you for your time.
If the operator transfers you to Viewer Relations or another department, please wait through the recording until you are able to leave your message for Discovery.
Then be sure to let us know you called.Go on and give them a ring if you care about wolves

Yep, I called and left the message. I'm in the Defenders of Wildlife, and it's such a great organization. I'm a huge Anti-Palin person, just because of her aerial shooting of wolves. It's just so cruel! Thanks for putting up this letter, Squival, and I'm sure more people will call.

Guys Palin lost the election along with McCain ages ago.
You no longer need to put forth some (crappy) reasons to try and ruin her election campaign that doesn't exist.

*sighs*
well if you actually bothered to read the info on the post I put up you would realise this has NOTHING to do with her extinct campaign anymore, I suggest trying to read something before attempting to make a half arsed comment on it

I know it has nothing to do with her campaign? I read? You don't see what I'm doing?
Don't call me out on being "half-arsed". I'm not the one who posted a phone number and asked people to call and leave their sentiments without having the decency to at least post a link. And cite your sources. Try to convince people why Palin's show is oh so bad. (Not everyone is going to jump on board and call just because Palin shoots wolfies!!)
Then you can tell me my attempts are "half-arsed".

The thread I posted was self explanitary enough without needing to site sources, despite the fact that I did actually say the place where it came from... can you see why even now it still looks like you just flicked through my post without giving it a read?
"A short message from Defenders of Wildlife"- There we go, first line and I say where I got the message from. And all because I just didn't post a link saying where the site came from I have no decency?... I'm not even going to apologise for that, I don't of know anyone who can't use a simple web based search engine, it's simple and takes 10 seconds to do.
And on top of that I'm expecting the people who read this from America to have at least some glimmer of knowledge about the message and it's contents. Not only is it self explanitary but also states why the reader should call in. If you want a boiled down version it comes to Palin= Anti-naturalist, oil loving, wolf hunting, republican bitch queen. Discovery Channel= Nature program presenting the wonders of the natural world we live in.
Its a complete traversty that they would air Palin voicing her opinions on wildlife and try to paint her in some naturalistic way, which she isn't from the records of her past deeds.
Lastly I'm not sorry I wasn't up to your high demanding standards of "Posting online ettiquette" but I am just annoyed that after not posting on these forums for so long the first thing I recieve is grief and a bitter response from a catch you next tuesday such as yourself.

Have to supplement your material if you want people to take you seriously, that's all I can say to you. I'm not even going to apologise for that, I don't of know anyone who can't use a simple web based search engine, it's simple and takes 10 seconds to do. Be very careful. I could use that exact same argument against you. It takes even less time to post a link. Quote: And on top of that I'm expecting the people who read this from America to have at least some glimmer of knowledge about the message and it's contents. Not only is it self explanitary but also states why the reader should call in. I am going to be completely honest with you. I find Palin's aerial hunting to be despicable, but it's not a big deal. There are national regulations. The wolves aren't going to go extinct. It doesn't matter if she is anti-naturalist or whatever you want to call her, those regulations are still in place. Quote: Palin= Anti-naturalist, oil loving, wolf hunting, republican bitch queen. And thus you have the reason why I entered this topic after being relatively dormant with regards to posting on this site. You would add Republican in there, wouldn't you. Quote: Discovery Channel= Nature program presenting the wonders of the natural world we live in.
Its a complete traversty that they would air Palin voicing her opinions on wildlife and try to paint her in some naturalistic way, which she isn't from the records of her past deeds. If you're so confident that Discovery is what it is, would you not lend to them the possibility that they have researched this? That they have anticipated this? That they made a decision to test this? If the show sucks it'll go off the air. Simple as that. There's a reason they choose to go along with it, and as a loyal viewer you should trust that they have a good reason. But I am just annoyed that after not posting on these forums for so long, the first thing I see is another one of these blasted Palin topics. Stop making arguments that I so easily can use against you. See you next....well, whenever you decide to post again, try to convince me to saev teh wolfffies!!!

I find it quite funny actually. Your moaning about a silly old lady in Alaska, while the economy is on the verge of collapse due to yesterday's UK General Election, and the issues in Greece.

Everyone leave Squival alone! All he/she wanted was to get the word out about her aerial hunting and a letter from the Defenders of Wildlife... is that so terrible? I fin this topic very informative and I even called the number they posted. So everyone just stop, and if you think the topic is dumb or whatever, no need to flame and be overly obsessive about getting the last word in.
Really, stop acting like children. -_-

Well it appears this is how Ghost gets his daily kicks, pathetic but whatever floats your boat. I just have one thing to say as I was originally intending to let you have the last word until you just lied and said something wrong... I think you must have read my post wrong mate. So lets break this down I re-stated- "Lastly I'm not sorry I wasnt up to your high demanding standards" Whereby you said- "You just said you werent going to apologise and then you apologise" Now coming from someone who just yammered on an argument against me on how he reads what I've written down... That is all, feel free to get the last say in if you want. Oh and Conay, the recession in England is over, our economy isn't on the verge of collapse and Greece has been on and off rioting for the past year, overall I don't give a toss about any of that stuff. Doesn't give me any reason to worry but you go ahead, and thanks for joining in the fire.

It was a minor mistake. But the mere fact that you can choose nothing over this issue to battle me with, shows that either you don't care to defend your topic or that you can't defend it. Probably best not to use facepalms. If I used them against you at any given opportunity, the page would be longer than the Milky Way is wide.
And daily kicks? Hardly, I haven't been on this forum with any consistency in months. That used to be true, maybe kinda. If people put in more effort with regards to post quality, maybe that would've been different.

No, the economy is not on the verge of collapse, but thanks to Greece, and the Hung Parliament in the UK, the Dow Jones and FTSE have hit an iceberg. Which is never a good sign. And yes, if we cannot sort the system out within a few months, we could face another financial situation. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/economy/default.stm

We had a smackdown last week of the stock market due to a cyber glitch that was so unusual, the numbers were down deep. At least around 400 points...
