What's wrong with this word ?

For me-nothing. They have their own choice of life, and I don't go like "ohemgee their sooow creeppy " or something like that. They're just...People xD And I don't think they need to be "isolated from others" or "hidden from kids" like most of us (okay, not us AS members, but many people on the world xD) like to say. I have nothing wrong with them. Neither about bi's or ******.

I don't know. Gay means happy.. and happy IS good. So there's nothing really wrong with the word. xD

Like a lot of people, it doesn't affect me personally at all.

However, it can and does cause a large amount of controversy and arguments; especially in a community with so many younger people who voice their opinions often rather brutally.
Plus, on AS, with the large amount of young members (12-16) it can cause a huge uproar simply from the mention of it. Whether that be for stirring things up or a personal thing doesn't really matter - it just does.

Immaturity: The cause of a lot of flame wars and such on this site. Someone immature would come and say:

"EWWWW, how could you SAY THAT?!"

I, personally, find nothing wrong with a word. After all, aren't words gibberish when you really think about it(calling a bird a bird doesn't mean anything; we just see it with that word)? Besides, the true meaning of gay, is happy.

And Yu', I would just suggest putting more information into the topic, such as your opinion, and why you think that, so on.

As far as I know, the reason "Gay" means homosexual is because it has a meaning:

Hmmm, with everyone being so accepting of the word, its a wonder it causes such an uproar. Could it just be a certain people who cause the uproar? And are we just bending to the minority's will cuz they can't handle it in a mature fashion such as those responding thus far? Guess we'll never know.

It's the immature members (I'm not saying younger, since some can hold their own, and some older *in age* members are just immature) I think that just cause this problem.
Gay isn't a bad thing, they are people, and it also means happy. It's bad enough Gay people /related things/ are shunned (In some places) in the real life, I don't think it should be competely banned on here.

Personally I don't find the word offensive at all, I use the word daily, this is gay, you are gay... I can see though how people can find the word offensive, just because they aren't a homosexual doesn't mean they don't find the word offensive, a family member or friend could be homosexual and they don't use it because of that. And I think it is up to the people who find the word 'gay' offensive need to speak up, if you never say anything people will keep using it assuming that it isn't offending anyone and continue to use the word 'gay' for that reason. How can your voice be heard if you don't speak up. And here is your chance to do so.

Nothing is wrong with it. I've known gay means happy for sometime, but somewhere along the road it was turned into another word for homosexual. I do find it rather sad how innocent words can turn into a curse word in the blink of an eye. I do find it annoying how people use the gay in a sentence like: "That's so gay" "That's so homosexual" Wow, that makes a lot of sens... Unless I'm missing something here.

Like I heard before, if two gay people truly do love each other then they should be together, better than two straight people who hate each other or don't along shouldn't be. I used to be grossed out with gay couples before, but now I understood why they do it cuase they love each other, who doesn't want to be with another sex^I think people have a right to date whomever they want too as long as it's not your own cousin or sibling XD
