Another fan character rant.

No, its not the lack in quality, persay. That's a bit too broad of a subject to color. There's a few specific things I need to rant about.

One of them being your very lame excuses for your characters to be related to Balto/Charlie/Spirit/Tiana/etc. OOH I HAD NO IDEA BALTO HAD SO MANY FRIENDS. Wow I had no idea Charlie had so many greatgreatgreatgreatgreatgreatgreat grandchildren!

In all reality? Its not the fact that you're making your character Balto's friend! Or any Balto character's friend! Its the fact that YOU. DON'T. EXPLAIN. HOW. OR. WHY!

How did your character even meet Balto!? How are we or even the mods supposed to buy that you're not just SAYING he/she is "Balto's friend" without thinking you're just using it as an excuse to post the stupid Mary Sue/Gary Stu??

Explain how they met, what they do together, I DON'T CARE. JUST THINK OF SOMETHING. I know thinking is REALLY HARD FOR YOU, but try it sometime! You're already making the fan character section look like a big friggen joke, I don't think the rest of us (who actually USE the FC section for its purpose) appreciate the fact that we're gonna get punished because of your stupid over-abundance of husky/wolf/collie/shepherd/poodle/fox/malamute/avocado/setter/retriever/pikachu mixes.


Now for the second part of my rant. Partially Twilight-related.

Really? You're going to make a character based off an already mediocre one? That's like cloning the deformed child of an already-retarded couple with a rabid coyote.

So yes, quite frankly, I am sick and tired of all the Edwards/Bellas/Jacobs/Renesmees of the Animation Sources. Its not even the names (tho the last one I am not letting go, its a stupid ugly fangirly name anyway). Its the fact that you are bluntly using characters everyone AND THEIR MOM are familiar with and making EXACT COPIES of them. Only you're giving them fur and less of a backstory!

They're ALL THE SAME. Every Edward/Bella/Jacob on these sites is involved in a stupid contrived love triangle! Am I the only one who's noticed this? Its not even just on Balto Source, its on Spirit Source too! I thought obvious knock offs of already-official characters was against the rules? Cuz I'm seeing this same crap with Wolf's Rain characters too.

Look, you spackers who're making these characters? Stop it. You're not clever. You're not making a well-thought-out adaptation to ANYTHING. You're not "tributing" to anyone. And you certainly aren't making characters ANYONE could possibly like. You're embarrassing yourself.

Make your /own/ characters. Make them have REASON. I don't know HOW MANY FREAKING TIMES we have to rant about the same garbage whenever its about the FC section, but its getting very tiresome to find new, yet old things to get annoyed at.

I feel the same way, altho i can sometimes guilty of the relation thing, i normall explain all of that.

and I am lossing my mind! there are so many twilight canine character rip-off apearing on the site! how can they be related to balto in anyway i mean really? and if your not alowed to make Offical character clones, why on earth would people be aloud to make, twilight character canine clones, there is going to be about one hundred bella and edward dogs on BS. I've seen one of spirit source as well. I mean really? what happend to the creativity?

also many members profiles have become one gaint twilight spam box....there are way more pictures than words, and half the pictures are animated, which means they are also breaking a few rules.

I don't understand why the relation to balto reasons aren't tighter, i mean we can't render fan images from none balto characters, but we can have our characters be, balto's fifty times great grandson, nad make twilight dog clones? thats not right.

I stopped all intrest in the fancharacters because of this.
They SHOULDN'T be appearing anyway, the mods should deactivate them and they shouldn't be on the site at all.

Oh god that is a pain too, I visted a member's profile, and my computer took 21 minutes to load the entire profile.

Well all i ahve to say is it's reporting time, times one hundred, from here on in for, me anytime i see any of this going on.

I know. It was mentioned just restarting the entire Fan Character section altogether, but people like me like the FC section cuz it helps keep track of any gift art we get. I can't look through all the fanart on the site to find them xD But I'd still like to thank people for drawing me stuff. Cuz they never tell me anyway

I hate fan characters. Hate it. Loathe it. And for those reasons.
That's pretty much why I stopped moderating them tbh. :/
On BS alone there's at least 40-50 characters a day submitted (including resent deactivated ones) - how can all these be original? I just don't know. Most aren't.

You do NOT need to create a character page for every single character you have and every single design you adopt or win.
Make a proper story. Give them a proper history. And for the love of everything don't just slap on "Knows Balto" or "Is friends with so-and-so who knows Balto" - either make a proper character that is supposed to fit into the movie universe or don't make one at all. |:

Thank you Cat. Thank you UK. Thank you everyone. For knocking some sense into our heads. *runs to delete all the random wolf/dog/whatever charries * But...If deleting all the random chars or changing their histories...What to do with fursonas? You know how much people love them xDD

I don't understand why a fursona needs a character page at all to be honest. I mean it's like uploading a picture of yourself and giving yourself a bio x3



Anyway, I probably won't be sending in many character pages anymore (on BS anyway) the mods need a well earned rest in my opinion. I find it irritating how people complain to mods, but don't actually consider the how many characters, pictures, fics etc, are sent in everyday and how long it must take to go through them all. Also, I don't think some of the younger people on here consider the fact that some people still have to work in the holidays and many other days to and generally forget that people have real lives outside of the computer.

Yeah, maybe names from Twilight or other stuff I think can be used, after all they aren't fantasy or made up names, they are pretty common names so, well, I don't have anything against them, exept from Renesmee and Bella that are too much overused. But I can see that we all got tired to see love triangle with characters that are the furrizied version of Twilight's character, seriusly, it's not original and it's not cool, it's stealing (yeah, I bet that a character with the same infos as one of Twilight or everyother film or book seen in a sparkle wolfie's page is not good).

I do have a character named Edward, it's a new one but was created long time ago, as I written in his bio, he was actually a lion based on Edward Culled (Lol a vampire lion xD how original), but it was for a friend ORL that after got tired of it and gave it back to me. I've found him not long time ago and I decided to modify it, infact if you read his bio, he has nothing to do qith Twiligh, new Moon, etc, here it is Edward

the best thing to read in their bios is that they follows Twilight's saga's script and in some part you read "Is Jenna's best friend" or the only minimal connection to balto is "Was born in the woods of Nome" xD boring.

I do agree with this rant, although I don't think there was a need to call them 'spackers.'

your right we do create to many fan characters, the only problem is this is one the the only sites that actpet renders fo people (including me) go over board a bit (i have WAY to many). they just need another area to vent their character out. ^-^ have contacted steet about a possible sister site i found.

Same here, (even though I use it xD) this site has been FINE without it, maybe it should stick to the forums, or be removed in ALL.

Well, aside from stealing, they could use more information. (Seriously, after awhile, you should at least put more information than besides a tiny paragraph!)

I was looking around character pages today (th newer ones) and i found that many people are braking the Character history length rule as well. which is so lazzy why make a character if you don't want to put time into giving them a history? Some say "to younge to have one" and one said "to violent for me to write" well then you should write what happend to your character when they get older, and Not ALL the characters history is violent i am sure or just write down something random, as long as it is something!

The rules say your characters History has to be at least five lines long. O_o and these people got like what one line? really? what mod is activating these, i mean seriously? i've reported one, and going back to report the rest.
