Ever since the creation of the Balto DVD petition, I have been wondering about the making of a Special-Edition DVD of both All Dogs Go To Heaven films. Now I know that I have said that making something like this could not happen, because of the hard times today and all of that. But I have given the idea some thought over time now and have said, "if we wait for something like this because of how things are, then it may never happen". So I want to talk about the making of this.
The first thing I want to know point out is the petition it-self, because I already have a idea for what the petition is going to say in my head. I want to know if you want to talk it over with others on the site about it, so that it will seem like a fair idea between fans. The petition will ask for the same things like the Balto petition is asking for, I would just like to add a few things, to have a part where it talks about the series and a part that talks about the history of All Dogs Go To Heaven.
Now before you have any thoughts that this might not work, I will tell you this. This is a wining situation for everybody and it's more likely to happen. I know for a fact that MGM is willing enough to make a Special-Edition for a movie, a lot of there films have gotten the treatment. Since All Dogs is one of the best selling animated films of all time, why would they not think "If it worked once, then it can work again". Plus they have done this to a another Don Bluth film, the secret of nimh, and Don Bluth even made a commentary track for it.
If there any time to do this, then the time is now. I am asking you if you can make ADGTH Source the base for this, just like how Balto Source is. We just have to get the fans together on this, and if this happens, then all of us can make a date in history to remember for the history of All Dogs Go To Heaven. Thank you,
P.S. A little idea about the petition, we should make the signatures number larger, I think MGM and everybody will think that something like this will expect big numbers, so we should make it 3,000 or 4,000.
Also, I think it's a better idea to wait and see what happens to the Balto petition, since it's near it's number goal. If the petition works and the dvd happens, then that's the sing that shows All Dogs can happen. If the Balto DVD dosn't happen, then we can get more people behind the All Dogs petition, then to have two petitions at the same time.

I agree with you on this, I will gladly help make the petition and I can prolly get a few people who would love to help. This is a wonderful idea, and I too hope that it works.

Question: What do you expect them to put on the DVD?

Not a bad idea, but the deleted scenes would be a no-no; according to Don, the reels containing any cut footage were destroyed as a cost-cutting measure. But, yeah, the petition is a great idea. Actually the Don Bluth wanted to release a directers cut version of ADGTH but the real was stolen and never resurfaced and the original cells were burned.

Forgot about the stolen reel; but any other original footage was still disposed of to save a few bucks...A shame too; though Bluth only cut out a little over a minute out of the film, that cut footage was strong enough for a "PG" rating to be unavoidable. I believe the cut out footage was Charlie being hit by the car you could see his body fly through the air, and after he is in heaven before the song Let Me Be Surprised after he was told Carface murdered him he say, "That Carface I'll kill him." Originally it was supposed to be, "Dammed that Carface I'll kill him." They also cut back on the Hell scene.

A special addition of the first one would be nice. Not so the second.
I'd like to see most of what dpstq said, and maybe a little memorial for Judith and Don. Especially for Judith considering All Dogs is the last movie she did.

Perhaps a cast/director tribute to Dom DeLuise? Or even a 7 second tribute from the actual dogs.
