Is Simba really like his father or pretending and why does Kira tell her father that he would never be like Mufasa???

I think Simba just wants to be like his father because his father was a great role-model. Also, I think Kiara told Simba he would never be like Mufasa because she was trying to either hurt his feelings or get a point across. If she wanted to hurt his feelings, it would probably be because he hurt her feelings. And if she wanted to get a point across, she was probably telling him "The only person you can be, is yourself".

I agree with, KnightOfDarkness.
Mufasa was a great king, and at the end of the first movie, we know Simba followed in his father's pawprints
by putting his life on the line for the good of his pride ('pride' of course being family in this case).
End of story.

Course I have one more little thought...
Even when I watched it the first time I was just thinking, "And you'd know HOOOOOOOOOOOOW?!"
Kiara was an over-dramatic moron. She never even KNEW Mufasa! Who's she to say who Simba is or isn't?!

It`s true that Kiara never knew Mufasa, but she must have picked up on the fact that Simba was trying to be like him. Simba told Kiara that himself, he said that Kovu was following in Scars pawprints, and Simba in Mufasas. Simba thought Kovu was exactly like Scar.. And Simba was trying to be exactly like Mufasa.

Kiara hit the nail on the head. She managed to get back at her father for hurting her so badly, and at the same time make him understand that it`s wrong to be anyone other but yourself.
