I have looked back to see if there was a post like this, i couldn't find one if ther is one i am sorry for the repeat.
Anyway. there is a wide debate on is Aniu the white wolf. I say no the white wolf is not Aniu, however I trust you all to believe what you want just hear me out.
First lets get by some things i expect you to through at me.
One: why would the white wolf howl at some one they didn't know it must be aniu:
My answer to this is, The white wolf is suposed to be a Symbol of the "wolf spirit" that dwelled within balto, the white wolf howled to get balto's spirit up again to help balto come to terms with who he was, also hte wolf was put there to blend in what boris said "maybe a wolf can" a dog would probably never have came back from that fall. The white wolf was big and stronge looking, thus balto had a visual of wha the was on the inside. also if it was aniu balto would have been like "mom" or something who wa slooking at the wolf like who are you and why are you here. He couldn't have not known who his mother was in the first movie and then just Knew in the second one, they weren't that messy.
Two: they were the same color
really now so are dusty and Alue (just about) and they aren't the same
Ok now here's how i see it:
For one I belive the white wolf is no were near female. He does not look like a female wolf also he is to big to be a female wolf. He had the same Bone structure/ face make up of Steele, Kaltag, and Balto. The makers in the first and even the secon fim were good at making female characters look Feminine, Dixie, Jenna, and the afagan were all really finane so where the camino female dogs falling over steele. The white wolf doesn't have any trates the female canine characters have. He was also far to big to be a girl wolf. in the second movie aniu was big however she was still small in being a female wolf, Nava was biger than aniu was. The white wolf towered over balto, aniu is just a tade bigger than balto is, this is another reason i believe it's not her. Nava was a male and was beinger than aniu, so it only come to mind if the white wolf's bigger he's not her.
You may try to through at me, the artists were lazy in the second movie and the character versions were different. however they weren't THAT different. the artist keep all the important details of the characters when it came down to looks they just looked more disney-ish were as in the first movie they looked a tade more realistic.
Aniu had: sleek frame, big nose (the bacl part), yellow-ish eyes (not the irise the white parts), no eyebrows
the white wolf had: Thick frame, small nose, black eyes and eyebrows
I belive they gave the white wolf eye brows to show he was male, and that they didn't give aniu eyebrows to make her look extra feminine since teh fur work in the second movie wasn't as good as the first, and they couldn't give her, the girlie fur like jenna once had. and even though the fur work wans't as good you could still tell the defference between the male style fur and the female style fur in the second movie.

Also what works in favor of the white wolf being male is the Chest poof. Balto, Nava, Niju and the rest had more chest poof, than Jenna, Alue and Aniu. the white wolf in the first movei had Huge chest fur.
now you might say the picture of aniu above have chest poof, true but this exaggerated because of the gust of wind. were are the white wolf's was natural.
