Chapter 1: The News

A few months have passed since the day that Balto saved the children of Nome, and Balto and Jenna’s relationship couldn’t have been better. They absolutely were head over heels for one another. They were inseparable where ever one went the other wasn’t far behind. They both were in love.

“Balto, can you please come over here I have something very important to tell you,” said Jenna with an odd smirk on her face.

“Why do you have that odd smirk on your face Jenna?” Balto questioned in a puzzled tone.

“Oh just come here and I’ll tell you why I have that odd smirk on my face” replied Jenna now even more eager to tell Balto the news.

“Be right over” replied Balto still wondering but now even more anxious to find out the news.

As Balto arrived Jenna whispered into his ear the important news. As soon as he heard it he was completely shocked. He too had an odd smirk on his face, a smirk only a father can get.

“So you mean, I-I-I’m, I’m a DAD!” yelled Balto as he cavorted around the room.

“Yes, Balto a Dad you will be” exclaimed Jenna.

“That explains why you haven’t been feeling all too well for the past week or so, it’s all because you have little Balto’s and little Jenna’s growing inside of you” said Balto exuberantly.

“Five little Balto’s and little Jenna’s to be exact” replied Jenna.

“Five puppies. Wow I’m going to be Dad to five adorable little puppies” Balto still can’t get over the fact that he is a father to be, that he is one of the reasons that five beautiful little puppies will be coming into this world.

“You do know that this now makes us a family” Jenna told Balto in a very happy tone.

“Ahhh, a family” says Balto as he looks up towards the sky with a wide grin that he can’t get off his face.

Chapter 2: Say What?

Both Balto and Jenna couldn’t have been happier about the news. That night both of them could barley sleep they were so happy. When Balto would roll over and look at Jenna her eyes were wide open staring at the ceiling with a wide grin on her face. Whenever Jenna rolled over and looked at Balto his eyes too were wide open staring at the ceiling with a wide grin on his face as well.

“So, how do you think my parents will react to the news about you and me becoming parents?” says Jenna in a concerned voice worrying how her parents will react to the news.

“I think they’ll be ecstatic, I mean they will be grandparents you know” replies Balto trying his best to comfort Jenna.

“True, but I’m worried they’ll think I’m too young. I am only two.” Exclaims Jenna as nervous as ever about telling her parents.

“It’ll be fine. I’ll be right there standing next to you while you tell them” replies Balto in reassuring voice.

“Oh, well then all right I guess I’ll go and break the ice and talk with my mom and dad. You said you were coming right?”

“Yes, Jenna I’ll be right there, don’t you worry they are a part of my family as well.” Says Balto in calm voice trying to calm down Jenna.

“Okay, well then let’s go, I want to get this over with” says Jenna with a little bit of nervousness still in her voice.

The two dogs made their way towards Jenna’s parent’s home. Balto was as confident as ever knowing that they would embrace the fact that we are starting a family. On the other hand Jenna is so nervous, wondering will they still love me, I am young maybe too young to start a family.

“Finally we made it” says Balto while he takes a deep breath.

“Yeah, here, finally” replies Jenna hesitantly.

“What the matter sweetie?’’ questions Balto.

“Only a little nervous, they are my parent you know” replies Jenna even more nervous than she was back at home.

“Well lets go find you mom and dad and tell them the wonderful news, I’m sure they’ll be as happy as we are” says Balto still trying to calm Jenna down.

“All right lets go” Jenna says while taking a big deep breath.

Just then Balto lets out an ear piercing howl. He howled so loud it probably woke up the whole city of Nome. Right on cue came out Jenna’s parents.

“Well, what was that for?” says Jenna’s dad, wondering why Balto needed to howl like that.
“Oh, no reason at all, just that Jenna has something important to tell you” replies Balto with a big smile going from cheek to cheek.

“So, Jenna what is this important news that Balto just told me about?” questions Jenna’s father now eager to find out what is so important to make Balto howl like that.

“Can you go get mom?” replies Jenna nervously.

“How is that important?” says Jenna’s father, with a puzzled look on his face wondering what this is all about.

Jenna looking shocked at her father of what he just said. “No, I also want mom here this news is extremely important and both of you have to be here to hear it.”

Jenna’s dad finally realizing the importance of whatever it is Jenna is about to tell them, runs off to get his wife leaving both Jenna and Balto behind waiting.

“What should I say?” Jenna looks up to Balto concerned.

Balto replies in rather calm and confident voice, “Just tell ‘em.”

“Whatta ya mean just tell…” as Jenna was interrupted by her parents.

Jenna’s parents were anxious to hear what Jenna had to say. They both had eager faces looking deeply into Jenna’s eyes. “Well, what do ya have to tell us?”

“It is the fact that um me and um Balto, are umm…” Before she could finish Balto interrupted.

“What she is trying to say is that you will be grandparents!” Balto screams with excitement.

Jenna’s parent both in complete and total shock look at the two of them with a dumbfounded expression, “What you are trying to tell me is that you and Balto are going to be, and we are going to be…” said Jenna’s dad in amazement.

Jenna looked at her parents still nervous not knowing if they still love her or not, “Yes, Mommy and Daddy, I will be having puppies and both of you will be grandparents of five adorable little pups.’’

“Oh, Jenna I am so happy for you, you just made my life a whole lot better. How could it be a bad thing that you will be having puppies” Jenna’s mom tells her with a large grin on her face.

Jenna now feeling better that her parents accept the news says, “So, ya mean you aren’t mad at me?”

“Jenna why would we be mad at you, this is something we are proud of you for, not many dogs at yours and Balto’s age can handle what they are going through but I am glad to say that both you and Balto are mature enough to handle having pups.” Replies Jenna’s mom reassuring Jenna that everything will be okay.

Her father on the other hand still has a look of shock and aw on his face. “Y-Y-You, are having kids? You are barely even two and you are having puppies? Oh Jenna, you are my baby and I only want you to be happy.”

Just like that Jenna broke into tears, “I knew it, I knew you’d hate me for telling you, why can’t you be more like Mom, she accepts the news and embraces it, why are you mad?”

“Jenna I’m not mad at you, I am really happy for you but as a parent you will find out that you will always want them happy. Trust me when I say this I’m as excited as you are but I just don’t know if it is time yet. I mean you are almost two. Soon you’ll understand my point of view.”

“But Daddy I am ready, I am happy how could I not be happy, I am starting a family with the one I love. Going to have five wonderful little puppies. Why won’t you believe me when I am saying this but I am, and I really mean it, I am happy.

“Oh, Jenna sweetie I am only saying that because I am your father I realize in two to three years you will recognize my point of view. This doesn’t make me love you any less and well if you’re happy then I’m happy.” Replied Jenna’s father with a grin beginning to form on his face.

The tears began to subside and she ran over to both of her parents and gave them a big hug and said, “I knew you would find this news to be good news.”

“Hey, Jenna time to go, it’s getting late and tomorrow I have to tell Boris about this” Balto said with a big smile and a look on his face like an ‘I told you so’ look.

Jenna looked back up to Balto extremely happy that it went over with her parents well. She was content with their reactions it still bugged her a bit that her dad had second thought about her having puppies, but in the end he accepted the fact.

The two dogs fell asleep. Now Balto was the nervous one not Jenna anymore he had a huge knot in his stomach. He couldn’t fall asleep knowing he would have to tell Boris. He wasn’t nervous about telling Boris but how Boris would take it. He didn’t want Boris to start to laugh and think it was all a joke or something and not take him seriously. Eventually he fell asleep but still on his mind was the fact that Boris may think it is all a joke.

This is a good story. I wonder why no one had replied yet.

Excellent! There is one typo however in Chapter Two. You said Sasha instead of Jenna. Otherwise, A+.
