IntroductionI was really bored today, being snowed in my house for the past four days and all, so I decided that I would re-read Aniu Caelestis's Official Roleplay Guide to see if I could get anything new out of it that I hadn't gotten out before. I can tell you it didn't take me very long. The very first rule dealt with post length and I immediately felt that guilt that practically all of us should feel. If the moderators really did lock every roleplay that consisted of only one line posts, how many rps would be locked right now? Maybe half of the current rps? And, yes, a lot of my rps too, sadly. After that little revelation, I decided that I really needed to work on my post length, and what better way to do that than with a new rp. Not some fantasy and fiction vampire/werewolf rp, or some human romance, but something to represent why we all joined this web site in the first place: wolves.
PlotThe Swan Lake Wolf Pack is a fairly new family pack to the Fern Valley Woods. Their alpha pair just having left their original packs nine months ago, and they are just having their first little of pups. Things aren't going as well in the human perspective of Fern Valley Reserve. Money is scarce and the banks are forcing the small company to give up their property to land developers for forestry. Unwillingly, the company takes down their fences and the new owners move in with their dozers.
Luckily, the curiosity of the four newest Swan Lake Pack members warn the family of the danger coming closure to their lake-side paradise. The family runs while they still can, not used to the dangers of the outside world that the fence used to keep out. They soon learn just what those dangers include, such as hunter's guns and traps. They find what they see as their only safe haven when they stumble upon large fields with strange new plants growing from them. They hid amongst the stalks until they are woken the next morning by a large green machine moving through the rows of tall green vegetables as a human, seeming to be riding the mechanical monster, collects the yellow crops.
The wolves are finally caught by one of the herding dogs there and she kindly explains that the place they have find is called a farm. Other than the sheep, the family doesn’t raise any certain kind of domestic animals, but they collect plenty of stray cats and dogs, not to mention the increasing amount of owls in the barn loft, raccoons in the dumpsters, and foxes under the house.
The pack befriends most of the animals at the farm and is welcomed to stay as long as they like as long as they stay out of sight of the master. Things seem to be looking up for the wolves until they are spotted by someone much worse than the master: the next door neighbor’s hunting dogs. While the human hunter tries to convince the farm family to let him set traps out in their fields, the dogs have already set to work herding the wolves, and other forest creatures, right into the hands of their owner.
RulesI don’t think I need to have a whole bunch of rules for anyone who has read this far because I know that I wrote a ton! Just keep in line and still have a good time. Just a few things to clear up so things don’t get out of hand. Post at least three to four lines for
each character. The only exception is if there is a long conversation going on between two or three characters, and then there should still be two lines. The wolf pack and wolves should be basically realistic other than the talking and stuff. No super powers and junk like that. Cussing should be censored except for certain words like crap and ***** and dammit and hell. Keep romance and stuff to like PG and
some PG13 stuff as long as it doesn’t get graphic. Also, because I want to make sure that everyone who joins is committed and won’t leave out of boredom, everyone has to have two characters. I think anyone advanced even slightly in roleplaing can handle two characters. Also, they both can't be exactly the same. They don’t have to be polar opposites, but try to make then as different as you can. For the roleplay example, I only need three lines. The ‘prompt’ is a scene from when they were a pup since every character will have one of those and it will help show a character’s personality and past since so much can happen to a pup.

History: Canyon came from a rather large pack of wolves. He knew that he was meant to be the leader of a wolf pack, but his brother was to be given the place. Canyon wasted no time going out on his own and coming upon a female and some of her siblings who were striking it out on their own. He took the strongest of the siblings as his mate, though it wasn’t really a love/soul mate occasion. The rest is in the plot.
Personality: Canyon’s whole life revolves around being a good leader and growing his pack into a powerful group of wolves. He is ambitious and, in his own way, very power hungry. But he is very good and kind to the member of his pack and especially his mate.
Role In Pack/Farm/Hunting: Alpha Male
Role Play Example: Canyon tumbled over as his much larger brother tackled him to the ground. He pawed Sterling in the face, growling in his puppy voice. He heard the low rumble of his father’s laugh at the brothers. He encouraged the playing. He told the pups it would make them stronger and build them into good leaders. That was all that Canyon knew he wanted to be, and he would get it. He flipped Sterling over on his back and playfully snarled in his face, showing that he had won this round.

Crush: Canyon (subject to change)
Mate: Canyon
Pups: not yet named
History: Lily grew up in a fairly large pack, but most of the members were family. She knew she had no chance of becoming an alpha female and, more importantly, a mother with her brother to become alpha, so she went out to find herself a pack of her own. Some of her siblings went out with her and when she came across Canyon, she sincerely thought he would chose her sister. Fortunately, Canyon saw more potential in Lilac as the alpha female and picked her instead. The rest is in the plot.
Personality: Lily’s life is her family and her pups. She is the mother of her pack, but there is also so much more to her that her mate and pack often overlook. She is outgoing and adventurous. Now that she has a family, she’s realizing that isn’t all she wants from life. She never took the time to be a fun-loving, rebellious teenager and is taking the time to do so now. She doesn’t realize it, but she really want to find her soul mate, and that is not her current mate.
Role In Pack/Farm/Hunting: Alpha Female
Role Play Example: Lily barked as she chased after the mouse that has run from the den. Her mother called after her as Lily raced into the tall grasses around a round oak tree. She skidded to a stop when the mouse disappeared into its tiny hole. She dug at the ground to no avail and growled in annoyance. Her mother’s call sounded again, and Lily sighed as she turned back and trotted back home.

Name: Sunny

Crush: Tyson
Mate: Tyson (may be changed to deceased if no one joins as him)
Pups: not yet mentioned
History: Sunny was born and raised in the ranch life. Both of her parents were champions in the sport, but Sunny was happy to be taken as a puppy to a little farm that only expected her to do her job. The family adopted Tyson not long after they adopted Sunny, and the two didn’t get along at all at first. Tyson would tease her in that grade school ‘I like you so I’m going to be mean to you’ way. (you all know what I mean) The two pups beat up on each other and insulted each other to no end. When they were older and the sparks started to fly, Sunny just got more upset with Tyson and his ‘charming’ ways. Sunny growled at him every time he tried to hit on her or compliment her. She just thought he was lying to her and trying to get her to fall for him just so he could laugh at her. But as time passed, Tyson finally stopped trying to ‘entice’ and ‘seduce’ Sunny and started acting very sweet and gentlemanly instead. They eventually worked out their differences.
Personality: Sunny is very sweet and gentle, but she is also the biggest tom boy. She loves the dirt and mud. She sometimes seems prissy because she has the state of mind that all males should be gentlemen and speak with respect when talking to a lady. She takes absolutely no disrespect, and can get fired up if you insult her that way. She is slightly sexist in that if a male isn’t as she thinks a male should act, she completely gives him the cold shoulder.
Role In Pack/Farm/Hunting: Elder Herding Dog
Role Play Example: Sunny jumped into yet another puddle, soaking her long fur. She shook the excess liquid from her fur, but the rain kept falling down and soaking her again. She yipped happily as she slid down a small hill in a mud slide, rolling to a stop at the bottom. She glanced at the rest of her siblings cuddled up warmly in the barn and rolled her eyes at them. Where was the fun in staying inside in weather as perfect as this?

Name: Travis
Age: 4
Gender: male
Breed: Irish Wolf Hound
Picture:

Crush: open
Mate: open
Pups: open
History: Travis’s family wasn’t much into hunting. He hadn’t even known that he was a hunting dog until he was adopted by a hunter. He enjoyed the training very much and loves hi new found job. To him, that is all hunting is: his job and his duty to his owner. He is his owner’s favorite dog and was put in charge of the others to keep them in line.
Personality: Travis looks at hunting from a very business perspective, so when he is told to do something, he is very determined to get it done and nothing will deter him from his goal. Outside of the hunting world, Travis is not an evil or inhuman dog. Yes, he believes that wolf and foxes and such are below him, but he is anything but blood-thirsty. He is very different when he’s not on the job or in training. He is a laughing and laid-back guy who loves a good joke as well as the next. He does not discipline his ‘team’ when they are just hanging out, but he is still in charge of them and keeps a watch on their behavior, especially with the girls. He doesn’t want any of his dogs to be distracted by some girl, though he has trouble not flirting a little himself.
Role In Pack/Farm/Hunting: Leader of the hunting group
Role Play Example: Travis snapped at the ashes as they floated from the fireplace. He ran to catch one, troding over his sister’s tail. She yelped and shot up, biting his scruff and throwing him to the ground. Travis rolled over and stood up, chasing after his sister who darted behind their father. Travis growled at his sister, but his father glared at him. Of course, he wasn’t going to yell at the darling little perfect one. It was always Travis’s fault anyways. Travis huffed and laid with the rest of his siblings in front of the fire, his fun killed.
