Two years have passed since Glaedr and Aurora retrieved the Earth’s Heart and saved Glaedr’s clan from certain death. Aurora has been accepted, slowly, into the clan and has become very popular, especially with the clan’s chicks. Glaedr has been regarded as a hero, and he is one, but now things are beginning to settle down. Reyan, the clan’s elder, has passed away but besides that everything is going right for the clan.

That is until a border patrol is found dead at the edge of the clan’s territory, their bodies shredded to pieces. As the sun sets for the moons without light in the depths of winter, the darkness is no longer safe. Danger and death looms on the horizon for the clan.

Blood will spill in this night, and no one is safe.

Hmm, maybe you should, Glaedr is more of the main character after all

Aurora yelped silently in surprise as she felt needle sharp claws dig into her backside. Everything after that happened blindingly fast. Glaedr was suddenly beside her and knocking her attacker to the ground, and she was suddenly in between Glaedr and the stranger. 'Glaedr!' she snapped, 'I know all these attacks are making you jumpy, but you should learn to look before you attack'. She dipped her head and helped nose a smaller male to his feet. 'Are you alright Atun, I hope he didn't knock you too hard' she muttered, casting Glaedr a scowl.

(Hmm, over-reaction much did you not see my new character )

Atun had suddenly found himself flat on his back with two much larger dragons standing nearby, growling. He recognised Aurora's soft scent, one he had come to recognise well after his mother had passed away. Aurora had taken him in and looked after him, but maybe this time he had gone a bit far. He pulled himself to his feet, with Aurora's help, and stared wide-eyed at Glaedr. 'I'm fine' he said, his voice barely a whisper.

(oops, thought he might've been an enemy)

Glaedr's facial expression softened slightly, he didn't really know who Atun was for he didn't spend much time around other clan members, he couldn't even remember the last time he talked to Ember. "Sorry, I have a habit of acting before I think." Said Glaedr. He could tell the younger dragon was afraid of him. "Maybe I was a bit over-protective." Muttered Glaedr.
Ember was watching silently in the bushes. 'Wow, Glaedr is getting jumpier each day, he even attacked Atun.' Thought Ember, shaking her head slowly. She decided to make herself visible. "What's the matter with you Glaedr? If there was a brain-sucker on your head right now, it'd be starving." Said Ember, now that she was a little older, she was a litle more "mature".

(I know, that was the point. It made me laugh though )

'Hmph, a bit is an understatement. Yes people have been attacked around the territory, but I don't think the attackers would dare come to the den site itself' Aurora said. Her expression turned less harsh though as she thought how sweet Glaedr looked when he was embarrassed. At Ember's arrival Aurora broke into a smile. 'You saw the whole thing then did you' she asked, prepared to be slightly embarrassed if she said yes. If Atun hadn't attacked her and Ember had been watching when she went to talk to Glaedr then it could have been very embarrassing.

Atun felt his confidence beginning to return at Glaedr's apology. He felt a bit safer now Aurora was with him, and that he knew Glaedr wasn't going to kill him. He jumped as Ember stepped into sight. She was only slightly older than him but he was smaller than her. He stepped backwards quickly and hid behind Aurora, peering at Ember curiously.

(Hmm, actually forget the bit where I said his mother died, I have something else planned for him (thanks to Ember ) oh by the way he has brown scales with a hint of grey and really big golden eyes (in a cute sense, not bug eyed). Here's a little fact, I get most of my names from Spanish words (I'm not Spanish), and Atun means 'fish'. )

Aurora nodded, trying not to show any awkwardness. She laughed as Atun hid behind her and nosed him out into the open. 'It's only Ember, she isn't going to hurt you' she whispered so that only Atun could hear. She looked down at the little creature with a warm smile. He had never known his mother, poor thing, and had been passed from dragon to dragon to look after. He's got me now Aurora thought.

Atun was indeed very scared of Ember. Her long, sleek red body, powerful wings and big teeth and claws made her quite intimidating for him. He stared at her when she spoke to him, but managed a frightened nod at her question. 'I-I'm...Atun' he said, his voice very breathy and quiet. He tried to hide behind Aurora again but she kept him out in the open.

Ember smiled as she tilted her head. "You're kinda shaky aren't you? I'm only seven and you're afraid of me?" She asked, her tail swaying side to side as if she were an excited dog.

'Shaky?' Atun asked. He was a bit confused at Ember's hoice of words, he wasn't shaking, he was just scared. 'I'm nearly seven, but your bigger than me' he finally said, giving Ember a quick look in the eye. He opened his mouth to say something else, but stopped when a loud roar came from the nearby mountains. Atun did start shaking then.
