Hello, Animation Sourcers! Paws here, and I've been inspired to post this little Sonic fanfic of mine here on the forums! Please reply and tell me what you think! I wrote this about two years ago, and all of my friends at school and family think this noteworthy!

Scene 1- Meet Shane!

(All is happy on Sonic’s planet. Sonic is resting on the roof as usual, Knuckles is punching rocks, and Amy is sunbathing in the yard. Shadow is standing like a statue, watching the sky.)

Shadow: Something isn’t right. I have a feeling something is going to happen soon, and it can’t be good.
Amy: (Lifting her sunglasses) Don’t worry, Shadow. If anything happens we’ll be ready.

(Shadow grunts and turns away from her. Knuckles stops throwing punches and walks up to Shadow.)

Knuckles: Amy’s right. (He lays a hand on Shadow’s shoulder) Besides, Sir Sleep-A-Lot and I have experience with stuff like this! We’ll take care of it!

(When Sonic hears Knuckles call him ‘Sir Sleep-A-Lot’, he opens an eye.)

Sonic: (sleepily) Hmm?

(When Knuckles goes back to his punching, Sonic whizzes down to Shadow.)

Sonic: What’s the matter here?
Shadow: *sigh* Nothing I suppose.

(Sonic shrugs and whizzes back to his spot on the roof. Shadow turns back to the sky and narrows his eyes at something hurdling toward them all.)

Shadow: (surprised) Huh?
Everyone: (frightened) Huh? What’s that? Whoa!

(Everyone scatters as a huge object crashes in the yard. The object looks like a meteorite with a gigantic hole in the center. Tails arrives in the X-Tornado and lands by the group, who are all huddled in fear, except for Shadow.)

Tails: (concerned) Hey, I heard a big crash and-

(Tails cuts off his sentence as he sees the meteorite.)

Tails: *gasp* What is that thing?!

(Sonic steps forward to examine the space rock.)

Sonic: Well, it’s no ordinary comet if you ask me.

(As Sonic walks away from the asteroid, an iron capsule pops out of the hole in the middle of it. All of them watch in amazement as the capsule slides open and a creature emerges.)

Tails: (terrified) Uhhh, Sonic? You might want to look behind you…

(Sonic turns around when the creature steps out of the capsule, rubbing its head. The creature was indeed a hedgehog, but it was a yellow color with green tips on the spikes of his hair. It had a green diamond on it’s chest. It also had double crossed-over sashes and cowboy boots.)

Knuckles: (angry) I’ll take care of this!

(Amy holds him back.)

Amy: Stop, Knuckles! You don’t know what you’re doing!
Knuckles: Yes I do, Amy! Now let me go!

(He breaks out of Amy’s grasp and charges toward the yellow hedgehog. It seems all but afraid as it stands up tall and takes off one of its sashes. The sash turns into a whip, and the hedgehog whips at Knuckles’ ankles and trips him. Then, the creature takes off his other sash. It becomes a lasso. He lassos Knuckles and ties him to a tree with it.)

Knuckles: Hey! (struggling to get free) Nobody humiliates me and gets away with it!

(Knuckles struggles harder and harder. The creature takes its whip and puts it back on as a sash again. Knuckles finally gives up the fight and grumbles to himself.)

Sonic: (to the creature) Who are you? And why are you here?
Shane: I’m Shane. I can tell you my name, but nothing else please. I didn’t come all this way to be interviewed.
Knuckles: (still angry) Well then, Shane, would you PLEASE get me down from here?!
Shane: (sarcastically) Nope!
Knuckles: (screaming) YOU GET ME DOWN NOW OR I’LL-
Shane: (cutting him off) Calm down pal! I was only joking. Hold still.

(Shane takes off his whip and he whips it at the knot that is holding Knuckles to the tree. It twists around the knot. Shane tugs on the whip, undoing the knot. Knuckles drops to the ground as Shane, cool as a cucumber, goes over to collect the lasso.)

Knuckles: (still screaming) You punk! Think trees are funny, eh?! Let’s see who’ll be laughing when I’m done with ya!

(Shane acts as if nothing’s happening, and he coolly takes his lasso off and lassos Knuckles again. Suddenly, Rouge flies in and starts to laugh.)

Rouge: (laughing) Looks like you’ve finally met your match, Knucky! Oh, who’s your charming little friend here?
Shane: I’m Shane. And who do I have the pleasure of addressing?
Rouge: My name is Rouge.

(Shane takes her hand and kisses it.)

Shane: Very nice to meet you, Rouge.
Rouge: (flattered) Pleasure’s all mine.
Amy: (confused) Wait just a minute! First, you drop out of nowhere, then, you tie Knuckles to a tree, and now you want to make friends? I just don’t understand…
Knuckles: (furious) YOU BALL OF FILTH! UNTIE ME RIGHT NOW, OR I’LL HAVE YOU TORN TO SHREDS! YOU HEAR ME?!

(Shane lets go of Rouge’s hand and strides towards Knuckles, laughing. He unties him and puts his whip and lasso back on. Knuckles starts to charge again, but Amy stops him.)

Amy: (running towards them both) Wait!

(Amy jumps in between Knuckles and Shane.)

Amy: (to Knuckles) I wouldn’t do that if I were you! He’s only going to tie you up again, and what if he isn’t dangerous?
Knuckles: Not dangerous? Ha! He fell out of the sky in a giant meteor, and then tied me to a tree! He’s got ‘Danger’ written all over him!
Amy: Just give him a chance! Maybe he didn’t come here on purpose! Right, Sonic?
Sonic: Maybe. (to Shane) Are you lost?
Shane: Nah, I’m not lost. (starts pacing) I’ve been doing a lot of traveling lately, and I never explored this planet before. Hope you guys don’t mind my dropping in so suddenly like this, but hey, what else was I supposed to do, call first?! (chuckles to himself)
Knuckles: (still angry) You think you’re so funny, dontcha? Well, Mr. Comedian, how would you like a flat head?!
Shane: (backing up) Hey, I wasn’t trying to light your fuse, pal!
Knuckles: (more mad than ever) LIGHT MY FUSE?! I’LL SHOW YOU A LIT FUSE!

(Knuckles charges, but everyone holds him back.)

Shane: Whoa, calm down buddy! (whispering now) It’s not my fault your fuse is so short…
Knuckles: I HEARD THAT!
Rouge: (to Knuckles) Please, stop fighting! Holding you back is ruining my makeup!

(Knuckles stops himself and crosses his arms.)

Knuckles: (annoyed) Well, excuuuse me! It’s not my fault my fuse is so short!
Shane: Watch it!
Sonic: Please everyone, just stop fighting!
Amy: First we have to find out where this guy came from.
Sonic: Amy’s right. Shane, would you mind answering a few questions?
Shane: (calm) No prob.
Shadow: Shouldn’t we go inside first?
Tails: We should. Sonic?
Sonic: (motioning for everyone to go inside) Come on.

Scene 2- Don’t Mess With the Press

(Everyone goes inside Sonic’s house. Shane sits at a desk with Sonic facing him. Everyone else sits on the couches and chairs like an audience. Shane puts his feet up on the desk.)

Sonic: (turning on a desk lamp) Alright, Shane. We need some answers. First, where did you come from?
Shane: (calmly) Well, I lived on just about any planet you could think of. I’m more of a drifter, but if I like the place, then I might stay a while. I was born on a planet called Caponia. Nice planet, pretty scenery.
Amy: If you liked the planet, why did you leave?
Shane: Well, I stayed a little while, and when I was old enough to travel, I did. I promised everyone there I’d come back to visit, but I haven’t been back ever since. I’m having too much fun hopping from place to place. I left because I wanted to explore, it’s who I am. I love to find new places I haven’t been.
Sonic: Okay, next question. What do you expect to do on this planet?
Shane: (hesitating) I don’t know, I just got here, and I’m sure there’s plenty to do on this planet. (looks at Knuckles) Especially make this guy mad!
Knuckles: (stands up) Hey, believe me, you will NOT like having a dent in your head.
Shane: You’re lucky I don’t hit girls.

(Knuckles leaps at Shane while Shane is checking his fingernails. Shane effortlessly takes out his whip and ties up Knuckles again.)

Rouge: (rolls her eyes) Here we go again!

(Shadow unties Knuckles and gives Shane back his whip. He whispers something to Knuckles, which seems to calm him down. They both sit back on the couch.)

Shadow: (to Sonic) Proceed.
Sonic: Thank you Shadow. (to everyone) Anyone have anything else to add?

(Knuckles opens his mouth, but Shadow stops him)

Shadow: (shaking his head) Don’t.

(Knuckles sinks back onto the couch and growls to himself.)

Tails: (raises his hand) Yeah. Shane, do you like machines?
Shane: Well, I guess so. I built that mini-ship that I came in. It was disguised as an asteroid on purpose, so I wouldn’t be detected.
Rouge: Why would you need to hide?

(Shane sits up straight and widens his eyes.)

Shane: (stuttering) Um, n-no reason. A guy can’t be too careful, right?

(Everyone stares at him with confused looks on their faces.)

Sonic: (confused) Well, okay then.

(Amy leans over to Tails.)

Amy: (whispering) I think he’s hiding something. What do you think?
Tails: (whispering) I should go check his ship.
Amy: (nodding) Good idea.

(Tails stands up.)

Tails: (nervously) I, um, need to check something.
Sonic: No problem, but make it quick.
Tails: Yeah I will.

(Tails leaves the room and slips out the door leading to the yard. Shane’s ship is still there. Tails walks over to it.)

Tails: (searching the ship) Now, let’s see.

(Tails looks around for a way to get in the ship, but there are no doors or windows. The giant hole in the middle had nothing in it, and it was only big enough for the capsule that Shane came out of.)

Tails: (scratching his head) Hmm, I’ve never seen anything like this before. I wonder…

(Tails goes to the X-Tornado and gets his toolbox. He brings it to Shane’s ship and takes out a screwdriver. He climbs in the hole in the center where the capsule was, and searches for anything suspicious. He drags his hands around the walls of the hole until he feels something. Tails digs his screwdriver into the small indentation on the wall. To his surprise, a small piece of the wall pops out, revealing a narrow tunnel.)

Tails: (surprised) A tunnel! I thought so… Let’s see where it leads.

(Tails leaves his screwdriver behind as he climbs into the tunnel. He has a determined look on his face as he crawls through. Suddenly, he comes to a little wooden box at the end of the tunnel. Tails opens it. Inside, there is a Wanted poster. It says ‘Shane Alexander Hedgehog. Reward; $50,000’. There is also a picture of Shane on it.)

Tails: (horrified) Shane? On a Wanted poster? It can’t be true!

(Tails looks in the box again.)

Tails: What? There’s more?

(Tails puts the Wanted poster aside. He looks in the box and takes out a photograph in a frame. It has a bunch of other kids that look a little like Shane. There are also two adults and Shane is in between them.)

Tails: (examining the photo) This must be Shane’s family. And there he is in the middle!

(Tails’ eyes start to fog up with tears.)

Tails: (crying) I know what it’s like to lose somebody close to you.

(Tails remembers Cosmo and has a flashback of her and him. He remembers when she healed his wounds, planned the big party, and when she died. When the flashback is over, Tails looks at the photo again.)

Tails: I wonder what happened to them. Does this photo have anything to do with the Wanted poster? (looks in the box) Wait, there’s more…

(Tails looks in the box again and pulls out a note.)

Tails: (looking at the note) What’s this? (starts reading) Dear Shane, if you are reading this, that means you haven’t left yet. I know you are a criminal, but that will never get in the way of our friendship. I still don’t know why you did it, but it doesn’t matter anymore. You are most likely going to forget me, but I’m asking you to keep this note and remember. You meant a lot to me, and I hope you are safe and visit sometime. Goodbye and good luck. From your friend, Tina.

(Tails puts the note back in the box and puts everything else in it too.)

Tails: He’s a criminal? (widens his eyes) I’ve got to tell Sonic!

(Meanwhile, Shane is still sitting at the desk, being questioned. Everyone else is listening intently until Tails zooms in.)

Tails: (yelling) Sonic! Sonic! I have to tell you something!
Sonic: (calm) What? What? What happened?

(Shane sinks down into the chair he is sitting in.)

Tails: Well-

(Tails stops when he sees Shane and everyone else staring at him.)

Tails: (embarrassed) I have to tell you in private.
Sonic: Okay buddy. In here.

(Sonic leads Tails to another room.)

Sonic: So, what is it? What was so important that you wanted to tell me?
Tails: (takes in a deep breath) It’s about Shane.
Sonic: (crosses his arms) Yes?
Tails: (uncertain) I searched his ship and I found a few things.

(While Sonic and Tails are talking, Shane leans toward the wall to eavesdrop. Shane starts to hear them talking about him. This is what he hears.)

Sonic: What’d you find?
Tails: Well, first I found a Wanted poster with his name on it.
Sonic: (angry and surprised) You found a Wanted poster?! Seriously?!
Tails: Yes, but that’s not all. There was also a photo of him and his family.
Sonic: (calmer now) Really… Anything else?
Tails: (uncertain) Well, uh, n-no. The rest was personal and I shouldn’t have snooped into it.
Sonic: Hmm. (thinking out loud) If this guy’s dangerous, then we should get him out of here.

(Shane slides down the wall and sits back in his chair. He knew they would never accept him now. Everyone is staring at him as if they heard Sonic and Tails too.)

Shane: (quietly) What’re you all looking at?
Shadow: (annoyed) You know, you don’t have to be so snappy.

(Sonic and Tails enter the room, and Sonic motions for Shane to come in the other room with them.)

Sonic: Come on, Shane. We need to talk. (to Tails) Check for anything else.
Tails: Sure, Sonic.
Shane: (to Sonic) What’s this about?
Sonic: Come with me, Shane.

(They go into the other room where Sonic and Tails were talking before.)

Shane: (calmly) So, what’s on your mind, Sonic?
Sonic: (sits down) I’m not the protective type, that’s Knuckles. But I hear you’ve had a little time with the police…
Shane: (lying) I-I’m not a criminal! Who told you that?
Sonic: That doesn’t matter. What does matter is that you’re too dangerous to be kept around my friends. I’m sorry, Shane, but you have to go.
Shane: (surprised) Go? B-but if I go, how would- how can I- where can-
Sonic: (interrupting) Well, maybe not all hope is lost. I have to talk to the others.
Shane: (blocking the doorway) You can’t do that!
Sonic: And why not?
Shane: If they find out I’m a criminal, they won’t accept me! Not that they do yet, but I know some of them want to!
Sonic: *sigh* You know, Shane, I used to be just like you. I used to joke around a lot, and I sort-of liked getting into trouble. I’ve changed, and maybe so can you. I am going to talk to the others, but I’m willing to give you another chance. (starts to go to the others) But don’t try anything screwy, got it?
Shane: (saluting) Aye aye! You have my word, nothing screwy! And, thanks, Sonic. I’m willing to prove myself, I promise!
Sonic: (giving a thumbs up) Good. I believe in you, Shane!

(Sonic re-enters the room where everybody else is.)

Sonic: (holding out his hands) Everyone, there’s something you need to know…

(The scene switches back to Shane in the other room. He is sitting in the chair with his head in his hands. He is looking down at his shoes, but then he looks up and looks in a mirror. He starts talking to his reflection.)

Shane: What am I going to do? When they find out I’m a criminal, they’ll all hate me.
Shane’s Reflection: Why do you care what they think? They’re nobodies!
Shane: Well, I don’t want to run anymore. Maybe they’ll give me a place to stay, who knows? But I guess they’ll never trust me now…
Shane’s Reflection: Who needs their trust? You’re a born crook! What you did can force them to respect you!
Shane: I wanted them to accept me on their own! I want to be just a normal hedgehog, not this! My face is on a Wanted poster! Mine!
Shane’s Reflection: That should be an honor! Only the finest villains get them!
Shane: I don’t want to be one of the “finest villains”! Why did I have to do what I did?!
Shane’s Reflection: You had no choice! Besides, you did it, and it’s done! There’s no turning back now.
Shane: But there’s still a way to right my wrong! I could prove to these guys that I’m not the vicious lawbreaker they think I am.
Shane’s Reflection: (yelling) Don’t turn back! There’s no hope for you!
Shane: Yes, there is! When all is lost, there’s always hope!
Shane’s Reflection: (yelling) Not for you! Stay in the life of crime! There’s no way out! Keep your life on this road!
Shane: (yelling) NO!

(Shane shatters the mirror. The pieces fall on the floor, and a faint whistle can be heard from the crushed pieces. Shane stares at it, and then kicks the pieces across the room.)

Shane: No.

(The entire group gets Shane and brings him into the other room.)

Shadow: Well, Shane. We heard about your little meet with the cops.
Rouge: And we also heard about your photo shoot for your Wanted poster.
Sonic: And we all came to a decision.
Shane: So, what’s up?
Amy: We’re willing to give you another chance!
Knuckles: Heaven knows why.

(Sonic nudges Knuckles with his elbow.)

Shane: (relieved) Thanks guys, I don’t know what to say!
Tails: You don’t have to say anything, we’re just glad to help!
Shadow: But where’s he going to stay?
Sonic: He can stay here. I don’t mind, and his ship’s parked out in the yard anyway. We won’t have to move it.
Shane: I completely forgot! My ship is probably ruined because of the crash! And I have no idea how to fix it. I don’t have the blue prints from when I built it, so I don’t know where anything is. Great! I have no money either so I can’t take it to a repair shop.

(Everyone looks at Tails.)

Knuckles: (looking at Tails) Good thing we’ve got a geek in the room!
Tails: I’ll help you, Shane! It’ll be no problem, I do this kind of thing all the time!
Shane: (surprised) Really? You’d do that for me?
Tails: Of course! I can’t resist mechanical fix-it stuff!
Shane: (overjoyed) Awesome! Thanks Tails, you’re the best!

(Tails blushes.)

Scene 3- Tacky Two-Tail

(Tails and Shane go back to the ship. Tails gets his toolbox from the X-Tornado and brings it over.)

Tails: It can’t be too bad. There’s nothing visible from the surface, but there may be some internal damage.
Shane: (sarcastically) I don’t know about that! My head still hurts from the landing!
Tails: (examining the ship) Whether it’s bad or not, I’ll have it good as new by tomorrow night.

(Tails opens up the control panel under the ship and looks through it.)

Tails: (looking through the wires) Well, the main reactor looks okay, but it’s really the adaptor and shock absorber that have a slight indentation. Maybe the crash set off the alert on the adaptor and sent it into Dual Overturn mode. If that’s true, it can’t be good. However, the shock absorber is the control that magnifies the-
Shane: (sarcastically) Wow. When Knuckles said you were a geek he wasn’t kidding!
Tails: (turning red) Oops, sorry. I tend to ramble when I get caught up in the moment.
Shane: (laughing) No, no, it’s fine. Really! I was only wondering if the ship can be fixed.
Tails: Yeah, of course! It’ll be finished by tomorrow night!

(There is an awkward silence, but then Tails says something.)

Tails: Shane, who were those hedgehogs in that photo in your ship?

(Shane stopped and was completely still.)

Shane: (caught by surprise) Well… that was… my family. Or, they were.
Tails: Were?
Shane: Yeah. They were my family. But then… um… they all…

(Shane breaks off his sentence and drops his head.)

Tails: Oh… I’m so sorry, Shane. I didn’t mean to bring it up.
Shane: (chuckles dryly) No, it’s not your fault. They were taken by… well, I don’t know. But it was something I couldn’t describe. My planet, Caponia, was overtaken for a few days by some kind of monster. They took all they could carry with them, and left. They didn’t take me, but they took my brothers, sisters, my mom and my dad too. Everyone else blamed me, because I was already a criminal.
Tails: Oh… It must’ve been lonely… I’m really sorry. I don’t mean to pry, but what did you do that was so terrible?
Shane: I had no choice but to do it. I was forced to steal something from them. I had to steal some kind of jewel from them. It was very beautiful, and it glowed in the moonlight. A scientist wanted it, I don’t know why. But I took it and the monsters got angry, so that’s why they took everyone. And that’s also why anyone who was still there blamed me. That’s also why I left. I lied when I said I traveled for the fun of it. I was on the run.
Tails: Who’s Tina?
Shane: (smiling at the sound of her name) Tina. She was my best friend. She was the only one who felt compassion for me, besides her little brother, Genji, after the monsters took my family. It was hard leaving her behind, but it had to be done. I… I really miss her.

(His eyes fogged up with tears. Tails noticed and walked over to comfort him.)

Tails: I know what it feels like to lose a friend. At least Tina is still alive, so that’s a good thing, right?
Shane: (surprised) Your friend died?
Tails: (crying a little also) Actually, I had to kill her. It was her destiny to spread her seeds. Her name was Cosmo. But I’m sure Tina misses you too. In fact, Shadow lost a friend too. Her name was Maria. He doesn’t like to talk about it. My point is that we’ve all been through bad times, but we survived, didn’t we?
Shane: Yeah, I guess we did. Thank you, Tails. And, please don’t tell the others about this. I might tell them on my own someday.
Tails: No problem, buddy. No problem.

Scene 4- Return of Old Friends (and Enemies)

(It is the next morning and Sonic is asleep on the roof. Shane is on the couch inside the house. Everything is peaceful until Shane hears a noise in the other room. It sounded like a plastic bottle fell on the floor. Shane opens an eye and pricks up an ear.)

Shane: *yawn* Is Sonic already up?

(Shane gets up off the couch and sneaks over to the room. He looks around the corner and sees a short, fat man snooping around.)

Shane: (whispering) He looks familiar…

(The man whizzes around. He has a large, bushy mustache and an egg-shaped body.)

Dr. Eggman: (terrified) Who’s there?
Shane: (stepping into the open) Who are you? And why are you here?
Dr. Eggman: (relieved) Ah, we meet again! Don’t tell me you’ve forgotten.
Shane: Wait… You’re the one who made me steal that jewel, aren’t you?
Dr. Eggman: Yes, precisely! And believe me, that Chaos Emerald went to good use, boy! I didn’t know you lived here.
Shane: (confused) I don’t. I’m only staying here for a little while. And, now I remember… You’re Dr. Eggman! You’re the one who made me a criminal and made my family get taken by the monsters I stole from! Why are you here?
Dr. Eggman: It’s actually quite tragic. (lying) All my robots and my ship have been damaged beyond repair! I’m only stealing to feed myself, or else I’ll starve!
Shane: (angry) Then so be it! You don’t deserve to eat. You don’t deserve to live! And why would you need a Chaos Emerald if you’re so desperate?
Dr. Eggman: Uhhh, th-that doesn’t matter! What’s important is you’ve got to help me! (grabs Shane’s arm) Please!
Shane: (pulls his arm away) Never! You ruined my life, you caused the death of my family, and you’ve done too many evil things to get away with it anymore! Get out!
(Shane points to the door and pushes him out. Sonic walks into the room where Shane is.)

Sonic: (amazed) Wow. You really know how to pitch it to ‘em!
Shane: (confused) You were watching?
Sonic: Heck, yeah! You two were pretty loud, and I never would have seen him if it weren’t for you! But there’s something I don’t understand… So, it was Eggman that forced you to steal something? A Chaos Emerald? And, can you please explain what happened?
Shane: Okay, here’s what happened. I was forced to steal a Chaos Emerald from some kind of monsters from another planet. Dr. Eggman wanted it, I don’t know why. But I took it and the monsters got angry, so they took my family. And that’s why anyone who was still there blamed me. The only one who felt compassion for me was Tina. She was my best friend, and it wasn’t easy leaving her. But I had to go because I was putting everyone in danger. That’s why I left. I lied when I said I traveled for the fun of it. I was on the run. I’m really sorry I didn’t tell the truth the first time.
Sonic: (amazed) Wow, Shane. I had no idea. I’m really sorry we were so hard on you; we didn’t know the entire story. Don’t worry, I won’t tell anybody if you don’t want me to.
Shane: (cheering up) It’s alright. I’m sure you’ve all been through stuff like this. Tails told me about Cosmo and Maria.
Sonic: He did? Well, don’t mention Maria around Shadow. He gets a little upset whenever she’s mentioned. About Cosmo… She was great at first, but then we found out she was a spy for the enemy. We still were her friends, but then… Tails told you what he had to do, right?
Shane: Yeah. But anyway, about Eggman-
Sonic: Right. I wonder why he was here.
Shane: He said his ship was broken. He said he was stealing food to feed himself.
Sonic: It’s his reputation to lie. He’s lied to everyone and he even had Knuckles fooled a few times. (whispering) Just between you and me; Knuckles is a sucker for a sob story!
Shane: *laughs* He doesn’t seem like it! Anyway, what was Eggman doing here?
Sonic: Hard to say. *wink* He can really put on a show with his lies y’know!
Shane: I wonder… What’s the chance he ended up in your house just by luck?
Sonic: Don’t know. But what I do know is that he was probably spying.
Shane: Why would he be spying on us if we were both asleep? It’s not like we were doing anything he would find interesting.
Sonic: You’re very right, but then why was he here?
Shane: Maybe we should ask your friends for their help. They seem like an intelligent bunch. *snicker* Not that I would know.
Sonic: Shadow used to work for Eggman. Maybe he can help us.
Shane: Where does Shadow live?
Sonic: I’ll find him. Don’t worry, we’ll have this mess figured out soon enough.

(Sonic and Shane run out of the room and run outside. They both split up to look for either Eggman or Shadow.)

Shane: (to himself) Okay, if I find Eggman, I’ll ask directly what’s going on. If I find Shadow, I’ll ask for his help. Now, where to look…

(Shane looks all around for a way to travel faster. He starts to run down a dirt road until he comes to a farm. He stops and looks at the horses.)

Shane: (thinking) I didn’t know they had horses on other planets! So if I’m going to ride a horse, I’m going to need riding gear…

(He looks down at his boots, and then he takes off his lasso. He starts to twirl it around his head. He lassos a big brown horse and jumps on top of it’s back. The horse starts to buck.)

Shane: Yee haw! Let’s go!

(He kicks it forward and it starts to gallop. Shane jumps over obstacles and gallops down the road. He passes Sonic’s house and he sees something climb out of his ship. He stops the horse and jumps off.)

Shane: (squinting) Hey! Show yourself!

(A little raccoon comes into view.)

Shane: (surprised) Genji? What are you doing here?
Genji: (panting) Shane! There you are! I’ve been looking everywhere for you!
Shane: (angry) What are you doing here, Genji?!
Genji: I kind of hitchhiked onto your ship…
Shane: What?!
Genji: I only wanted to see where you were going! And I also have a message for you.
Shane: (cooling down) A message from who?
Genji: Tina.
Shane: (surprised) It’s from Tina? What is it then?
Genji: Here.

(Genji hands Shane a flat piece of metal. A hologram pops up from it. The hologram is Tina, talking to Shane. Tina is a raccoon with a purple turtleneck shirt and mini blue shorts. She also has a red bow on her head with purple shoes.)

Tina: Shane, if you are watching this, you must’ve found my brother Genji in your ship. Listen Shane; the entire planet is in terrible danger! The monster you stole the jewel from has returned! It is looking for you, and even as I speak, innocent lives are being destroyed! You must come back Shane. You are our last hope.

(The hologram fades out, and Shane drops the metal piece to the ground. The camera closes up on his fist, and his fist is being clenched so tightly that a rip starts to run down his glove.)

Genji: Um, Shane your glove is ripping…
Shane: (serious) I have to go back. My family was already deprived of their lives, but I won’t just stand here and let those guys take everyone else’s too. And I will not let them take Tina! Genji, get my map. It’s inside the ship.

(The little raccoon scurries down into the ship and looks for the map.)

Shane: Wait.

(Pictures of Sonic and his friends all rush to Shane’s mind. He remembers everything they’ve done for him. He remembers Tails fixing his ship, Amy defending him against Knuckles, Shadow stopping Knuckles from punching him, and Sonic giving him a place to stay.)

Shane: (snapping out of it) I-I can’t go back yet! What about everyone else, what about all they’ve done for me? (to Genji) Genji, just wait here for a sec. I’ll be right back.

(Shane hops onto his horse and rides away. He phones Sonic on his walkie-talkie.)

Shane: (into the walkie-talkie) Sonic, where are you?
Sonic: (through the walkie-talkie) I’m at the corner of Fifth and Central Street, what’s up? Did you find Eggman?
Shane: (into the WT) No, but I have some very bad news. Please stay where you are and I’ll be there is a minute.
Sonic: (through the WT) You got it.

(Shane races down on his horse and Sonic comes into view.)

Shane: (stopping his horse) Sonic!
Sonic: Shane! Hey, where’d you get a horse?
Shane: It doesn’t matter. What does matter is that I have to tell you something.
Sonic: What’s up?
Shane: *sigh* I’m sorry, Sonic, but I have to go.
Sonic: (shocked) Go where?
Shane: (sad) Back to my planet.
Sonic: But why?
Shane: The monster I stole from is attacking my planet. Everybody who lives there are in terrible danger, and I must help them. Tina’s still there, and so are all the innocent lives that are being taken this very moment! I have to leave…
Sonic: (gets an idea) Wait, Shane! I have an idea. But first, we have to round up the gang. I know where everyone lives but Shadow. Shadow isn’t the kind of guy to stay in one place, if you know what I mean. I’ll get the others, you look for Shadow.

(Shane nods and rides away on his horse. Sonic runs at super-sonic speed to get everyone else and to tell them what’s happening.)



Scene 5- Now Who’s With Me?

(Later that day, everyone, including Shadow, is outside of Sonic’s house. Sonic just explained to them about Shane’s planet and how it’s in trouble, and then Sonic proposes his idea…)

Sonic: (continuing) …so I thought we could all work together and help save Shane’s planet!
Rouge: (uninterested) But how can we help?
Knuckles: (to Rouge) By you being quiet!
Rouge: (crossing her arms) Now that’s no way to talk to a lady!
Tails: Stop you two! We all have to work together, or we won’t even have a chance!
Amy: Tails is right! We have to rescue a planet here, and if Sonic’s up for it, then so am I!
Knuckles: (rolling his eyes) What a surprise.
Shadow: How long will it take to get there?
Shane: Well, not very long if we hurry.
Shadow: How long is ‘not very long’?
Shane: It’s difficult to say for sure, but I can promise a few days.
Sonic: Imagine what that monster can do in a few days.
Shane: Well, I’ve been saving a tank of Super-Nitrofusion fuel for an emergency…
Genji: I’m pretty sure this counts as an emergency.
Shane: If we use that fuel, we can get there in less than five minutes! It’s perfect!
Tails: (uncertain) Can the ship handle it?
Shane: Of course! It was built to go fast. I never actually had to go that fast very much, but now we need to.
Knuckles: What’s this ‘we’ talk? Do you honestly think I’m going to kill myself over a planet that you came from?
Shane: Well, yeah!
Knuckles: (slapping himself in the face) Alright kid, ya got me!
Sonic: Then what are we waiting around for? Let’s go kick some serious monster butt!

(They all cheer and take turns climbing into the ship. Shane goes in first.)

Shane: Hold your horses, fellas. This hole where my capsule was isn’t going to expand unless I enter the correct keyword. It’ll only take a second…

(Shane goes to the very back of the hole and slides open a piece of the wall. A keyboard appears, and Shane types in the password. The keyboard disappears and a door opens on the other side, leading to a large room with enough seats for everyone.)

Shane: Okay guys! Come in!

(The gang crawls in and marvels at how big the room is.)

Tails: (looking around the room) This room looks bigger than the Blue Typhoon!

(Everyone takes a seat, and Shane sits in the cockpit. He turns around to Tails.)

Shane: Hey Tails, how would you like to be co-pilot?
Tails: (amazed) Really? Me?
Shane: Sure, why not? You fixed my ship, and you seem to know what you’re doing. Come sit up here.

(Tails takes his place at the seat next to Shane and puts on the earphone.)

Shane: Everyone set?
Everyone: Yup!
Shane: (to Tails) You set?
Tails: *winks* You betcha!
Shane: (into the earphone) Okay everybody, hold on tight ‘cause this can get a little bumpy!
Genji: (sarcastic) Just what we need.
Shane: (pushing buttons and pulling levers) Ignition.
Tails: Check!
Shane: Fuel.
Tails: Check!
Shane: Sandwich.
Tails: Ch- wait, what?
Shane: Gotcha! I’m just kiddin’ buddy! (turns a key) Ready…and…liftoff!

(The ship lifts off the ground and into the air. The ship disappears into the sky and has gone into deep space.)

Scene 6- Voyage to Caponia

(Shane and Tails are still in the cockpit while everyone else is waiting in the back seats.)

Shadow: We are losing precious time. Why can’t we jump to hyper speed yet?
Shane: I remember there’s an asteroid field somewhere up here. If we jump to hyper speed now we might crash into one. We have to wait until we get through it.
Knuckles: What’s the difference if we crash or not? I’m not going to last long anyway if this bat is near me.
Rouge: Well, excuse me if you can’t handle the beauty!
Knuckles: (turns away) *Humph*
Shane: I see a few asteroids up ahead! This could be the asteroid field!
Sonic: (relieved) Finally! We’ve got to get through this fast or else we might not make it until-
Shane: (yelling) Don’t say that!
Genji: We’ll make it! (trying to reassure Shane) When we pass the asteroid field, we’ll jump to hyper speed with the Super Nitrofusion fuel and we’ll be there in no time! Right guys?

(Nobody answers.)

Genji: (through clenched teeth) Right guys?!
Everyone: (finally getting it) Oh, of course! Yeah. We’ll make it for sure! No problem!
Amy: Are we through the field yet?
Tails: (narrowing his eyes) Just about. Shane, are we ready for hyper speed yet?
Shane: I’ve got my hand on the lever. Ready gang? Hold on to your seats, it’s gonna get rough! Jumping to hyper speed in 5… 4… 3… 2…

(Shane pushes the lever and everything starts to turn. Everything is going so fast, nothing is visible anymore. Everything goes white and gets quiet.)

Shane: (opening his eyes) What happened?

(He looks around and sees that everyone else is passed out in their chairs too. He looks out the window and sees nothing but desert. There is a big city in the distance, far-off. Shane shakes Tails beside him.)

Shane: (shaking Tails) Tails, wake up! We made it!
Tails: *groan* What happened?
Shane: We did it! We’re here! Get the others up and I’ll look around for any sign of the monsters.
Tails: *yawn* Okay, I’ll be right there.

(Tails and Shane sleepily get out of their chairs. Tails wakes up everyone else while Shane looks for any sign of the monsters.)

Shadow: (rubbing his head) Oh, my head…
Rouge: (looking in the mirror) Oh, my makeup…
Knuckles: (standing up) Where are we?
Genji: We’re in Caponia!
Amy: Really? *yawn* How exciting! I’ve never even heard of this place before, and now here we are!
Sonic: Hey Shane, should I come help you look around?
Shane: (sarcastic) If you can keep up!
Sonic: Oh, you’re on!

(Shane takes off his lasso and whip while Sonic starts to run. Shane lassos branches and uses his whip as another lasso while swinging from tree to tree. He catches up to Sonic, but Shane stops when he sees something in the dirt.)

Shane: Hey, Sonic! I think I found something!

(Shane crouches down and brushes the dirt off the object. Sonic runs back to him and sits down next to him. Shane cleans off the object and it is a red bowtie.)

Sonic: It’s just a ribbon.
Shane: No. (wells up with tears) This is Tina’s bow.
Sonic: *gulp* Shane, it’s gonna be okay. I’m sure Tina’s perfectly all right. -
Shane: (angry at himself) No, it’s not okay! Tina’s probably gone and it’s all my fault! I came too late!

(Shane squeezes the bow in his hand, and nearly crushes it.)

Sonic: Calm down, we don’t know for sure of she’s gone.
Shane: Then why is her bow here? Why would she just take it off and leave it, huh?
Sonic: (gets an idea) Maybe she left it here for us to find! Maybe she just wants us to find her, yes that’s it!
Shane: I’m not sure. (stands up) But I’ve got to find her. She’s my very best friend and she never gave up on me. So I shouldn’t give up on her.

(Shane motions for Sonic to follow him. They both start towards the city. When they get there, everything is completely ruined.)

Shane: (shocked) No. This can’t be…

(Suddenly, they hear a boom followed by intense screams. Shane and Sonic exchange glances, and then they both go to find the source. Sonic finds it first. He hides behind a building and pulls Shane behind him. They both watch as a huge creature walks through crowds of screaming animals. The monster had the body of a wolf, the tail of a rat, the head of a snake, and the nose of a swordfish. When the creature walked, a boom could be heard because the monsters were about as tall as the buildings.)

Shane: *gasp* They are back!
Sonic: How the heck did you steal a Chaos Emerald from those guys?
Shane: I don’t mean to brag, but the reason Dr. Eggman chose me was because of my skill and sneakiness.
Sonic: Maybe we can think of a plan to stop them before they destroy the planet- again.

(Shane is thinking up a plan when he spots someone in the terrified crowd…)

Shane: Tina!

Scene 7- Project Look-A-Like


(The monster then starts to pick from the crowd and keeping them in hanging cages. Monster picks up a few others, and then he picks up Tina.)

Shane: Sonic, that’s Tina! The monster is taking her!
Sonic: What are they doing with them all?

(The monster is taking them all one-by-one and placing them in a chamber. Every time someone gets put in, two of them come out.)

Shane: (shocked) They’re cloning them! But wait, they aren’t exact clones. Look, watch that person right there.
Sonic: The one with the apron?
Shane: Yes, him. Do you see the rip in his apron? The clone doesn’t have that rip. That’s strange.
Sonic: Sure is, but we have to get help right away! I have a plan, I’ll distract that monster, since he can’t ever catch me, and you’ll go get the others back here ASAP.
Shane: You got it, but why would they be cloning everyone?
Sonic: I think they’re making an army.
Shane: Well, that can’t be good news.
Sonic: (annoyed) Just stick with the plan.

(Shane nods, but then the monster tries to clone Tina. Shane gets so angry, he pushes Sonic out of the way and runs toward the cloning chamber.)

Sonic: (yelling) Shane! What are you doing?!

(Shane pushes Tina out of the chamber.)

Tina: (surprised) Shane?
Shane: This is for your own good!

(Shane pushes Tina out of the chamber and she falls to the ground. The chamber closes on him. The chamber opens up again, but this time there are two Shane’s. Sonic sees the two Shane’s and runs back to get help.)

Sonic: Guys! Guys! Shane’s in trouble!
Amy: What happened?!
Sonic: (out of breath) He’s been cloned!
Shadow: (confused) Cloned?
Sonic: Yeah! The monsters are making an army of clones. They tried to clone Shane’s friend, Tina, and he pushed her out of the way, but then he got cloned! We have to find the real Shane before it’s too late!

(Sonic, Shadow, Amy, Knuckles, Rouge, Tails, and Genji all run back to the cloning chambers. They all see the two Shane’s. The monster goes to round up other civilians, so they go down to find the real Shane.)

Tails: Shane!
Shane & Shane’s Clone: Yes?
Knuckles: (sarcastic) Great. All we need is one more of you!
Shane & Shane’s Clone: (to Knuckles) Hey! (to each other) Huh? Stop copying me!
Rouge: Oh boy…
Sonic: Okay, which one of you is the real Shane?
Shane & Shane’s Clone: I am!
Shane’s Clone: (to Sonic) Don’t listen to this impostor! He’s obviously a fake!
Shane: Oh, I’m the fake?
Shadow: One of them is lying. We all know that. But does the clone have the same memory as the real one?
Amy: Let’s see then. Hmm, what’s my name?
Shane & Shane’s Clone: Amy Rose!
Amy: Ugh. This is never gonna work.
Tails: I guess they are perfect clones. They even have the same memory.
Shane’s Clone: (to Tails) But I’m the real Shane! You can tell even by just looking at the fake one!
Shane: Who are you calling fake, fake?

(Tina runs in from off-screen.)

Tina: Shane!
Shane & Shane’s Clone: Tina!
Tina: (confused) What? Two of you? You got cloned, didn’t you?
Shane: Did you get cloned?
Tina: No, thanks to… well, one of you.
Shane’s Clone: You mean me.
Shane: Wait! I can prove I’m the real Shane!
Shane’s Clone: Well, it won’t work because you aren’t the real Shane.
Shane: (to Sonic) Remember how the clones aren’t exact, and that rips or tears won’t copy?
Sonic: Sure, I remember. Why would that help?
Shane: (to Genji) Genji, look at his hand.
Genji: So?
Shane: No rip.

(Genji gets a flashback of when Shane received the message from Tina, and he clenched his fist so hard that his glove ripped. Genji snaps out of his flashback. He checks the real Shane’s hand, and the rip is still there. He cheers and hugs Shane.)

Genji: (cheerfully) Shane! It really is you! I knew it all along!
Shane: (to everyone) Well, there you have it! (to his clone) In your face!
Tina: (relieved) Shane! (hugs Shane) Y’know, you were crazy to clone yourself to save me.
Shane: Hey, I couldn’t let my best friend get copied! You’re one of a kind!

(Suddenly, there are steady booms in the distance. The monster appears through the crumbled buildings. The gang runs for the trees. Shane picks up Tina and starts to run. The monster picks up all of the clones, including Shane’s. Shane isn’t fast enough, and the monster starts to shoot lasers at Shane and Tina. The rest of the gang is safe in the trees, but Shane still isn’t there yet. A laser missile hits Shane on the back, and he falls. The monster picks up Tina, as Shane lay on the ground, motionless. The monster leaves with the clones and Tina)

Amy: Shane! Are you okay?
Rouge: Is he…
Tails: No!

(Tails runs toward the fallen Shane, and tries to shake him awake. Shane stays on the ground, and doesn’t move. Tails starts to well up with tears until Shane rolls over on his back. He whines in pain and he turns onto his stomach again. Tails sees that Shane has a big black spot on his back from the missile. Tails motions for everyone to come over.)

Shadow: Is he still alive?
Tails: (nods) Yes, but look at his back.
Knuckles: Ouch. His skin is fried from that laser missile!
Rouge: I’ll say!
Knuckles: (shaking Shane) Hey. Shane. Come on, get up!
Shane: (sleepily) *moan* Wha- …Knuckles? Where’s Tina?
Amy: They took her, Shane. I’m so sorry.
Shane: (suddenly awake) What?!
Sonic: I’m really sorry, Shane.
Shane: (angry) No! This is horrible! We have to go save her!
Genji: Oh no you don’t! Not like that anyway!
Shane: Like what?
Shadow: Your back maybe?
Shane: It’s only a scratch…
Tails: Genji is right, you’re hurt. Badly.
Shane: Oh all right. I’m hurt. But I can’t just sit here while Tina’s in danger!
Amy: Here Shane. (pulls out a water bottle) You need to recover at least a little bit before getting hurt again. This water should help.

(Amy pours the water on the big burn spot. Shane winces in pain. Amy runs out of water.)

Shane: Thanks, Amy. (stands up) But I really have to go find Tina.
Genji: But Shane! Chasing after those guys can get you killed!
Shane: I know. But she’s in greater danger than I am. You guys can stay here, but I’m going in.
Sonic: Are you kidding? I’m so in! We can do it, no sweat! (to Shadow) What about Mr. Ultimate Life Form?
Shadow: *sigh* I know what it feels like to lose someone you care about. I’m going too.
Amy: So am I!
Knuckles: I must be insane, but I want a piece of the action!
Tails: You’re going to need a brain of the outfit, aren’t you? Count me in!
Genji: I want to come too! I may be small, but I’m 100% muscle!
Rouge: You’re all out of your minds!
Knuckles: You’re coming, we need all the help we can get!
Shane: You’re all going to help me? Remember, I crash-landed in your yard only a week or two ago.
Sonic: That may be true, but you’ve become more than a guy that crashed in our yard.
Amy: Yeah, you’ve become like a member of the family.
Shane: Really? I have? Guys, I-I don’t know what to say!
Tails: You can say ‘let’s go’!
Shane: Well, okay! Let’s go! Let’s go kick some monster-alien butt!

Scene 8- Failure Is Not an Option

(Everyone charges to the city where the monster’s base is. They all arrive at a gigantic ship with 3 of the monsters guarding it. There are yells and screams coming from the inside. Shane bravely marches forward, but Sonic pulls him back.)

Shane: (surprised) What the-
Sonic: What do you think you’re doing?
Shane: (rigid) Listen, Sonic. We have to save them. Now.
Sonic: No! Not now!
Shane: (crosses his arms) And why not?!
Sonic: (turns Shane’s head) Because of those!
Shane: I know the stakes are high. (slaps Sonic’s hand away) But the ones in there are in more danger than we are! What happened to ‘no sweat’?
Sonic: (looks at the others) You know what you guys? He’s right! We can take these fruitcases without breaking a sweat!
Knuckles: Whoa, hold the phone, Sonic! I’m not taking on those beasts! They’ll skin me alive!
Rouge: Maybe they’ll even erase your brain… Oops, too late!
Knuckles: (to Rouge) Was I talking to you?!
Tails: We can definitely defeat them if we all work together!
Amy: I think this whole ‘working together’ thing could work… but there’s only 8 of us! (whispering) And one of them is a pipsqueak.
Genji: (offended) Hey!
Shane: Come on, would you guys grow up?
Knuckles: (to Shane) Look who’s talking.
Shane: If no one else wants to come, I’m going by myself! I don’t need your help!
Shadow: You can’t fight them all by yourself.
Shane: Sure I can! (sarcastic) I’ve swallowed things more frightening than them!
Shadow: I know it’s no my place to say, but why are you so heroic all of the sudden?
Shane: What do you mean?
Shadow: I mean that when we met you, you were more loose. Now, you act like a military general.
Tails: You know, Shadow’s kind-of right.
Shadow: Kind-of?
Tails: (ignoring Shadow) Shane, you used to be a lot like how Sonic used to be.
Shane: Tails, you’ve noticed how Sonic has changed, right? He told me I remind him of himself back in the day, but Sonic has changed, and so have I. Sure I’m still the same guy. But there’s always a time for everything, and now is not the time for jokes. All those innocent people are in there, and so is my best friend. When a friend’s in trouble, you have to be strong. You can understand that, can’t you?
Tails: Of course.
Shadow: I’m not the apologetic type, but I’m sorry I judged you, Shane.
Shane: (playfully punches Shadow on the shoulder) Aw, don’t worry about it. Besides, I can’t blame you for judging me; I suddenly crashed in the yard! I would be skittish too if that happened to me.
Knuckles: All right, enough with the sensitivity! Let’s get outta here!
Amy: Wait! What about all of those people?
Knuckles: Come on, you didn’t think I’d leave when there’s fighting to be done, did ya?
Genji: (jumping up and down) Woooo! Let’s go get ‘em!
Sonic: I really thought you were all going to stay behind! I guess I was wrong!

(Sonic and friends charge down to the monsters’ base. Tails stays behind and runs back to the ship.)

Shane: Tails!
Tails: I’ll be right there!

(Shane shakes his head and joins the rest of the group. They all are standing right in front of the monsters. Monster 1 has a green snakehead, Monster 2 has a blue snakehead, and Monster 3 has a gold snakehead.)

Monster 1: Ha! You fools actually thought you could outnumber us? You dipsticks don’t even have enough power to defeat one of us!
Sonic: Oh yeah? We’d like to see ya try to take us down!
Monster 2: (to Monster 1) These dimwits don’t have a chance!
Knuckles: (angry) Nobody calls me a dimwit!

(Knuckles charges and punches Monster 2 in the foot. His fist makes a dent in the foot.)

Monster 2: (screaming) Aaaaahhhh! Why you little…

(Monster 2 swings his swordfish nose at Knuckles and sends him flying through the air. He lands on the ground, but gets right back up and runs back to the group.)

Shane: Let the prisoners out!
Monster 3: (the scariest voice) Why would you care? You’re just a helpless little hedgehog who happens to see us scheming…
Shane: I know those people! And you’d better let them all out, even the clones!
Monster 1: Never.
Rouge: (to Knuckles) We warned them.

(The entire group charges at the monsters. Suddenly, four more monsters with all purple heads come out of the base. When Sonic is running at one of them, another monster sneaks up from behind and flips him into the air with his swordfish nose. The two monsters jump up at Sonic and one of them catches him with his rat-like tail. The monster is about to eat Sonic when Tails flies in with the X-Tornado.)

Tails: Sonic!

(Right when Sonic is about to be eaten by the monster, Tails dips the X-Tornado and knocks Sonic onto the wing of the plane.)

Sonic: Oof!
Tails: Sonic, are you okay?
Sonic: *thumbs up* Yup, thanks to you!

(Tails lands the X-Tornado on the ground. Everyone else is fighting the monsters. Nobody seems to be winning, because they are all working by themselves. All seven monsters suddenly throw everybody out of the way and into a pile.)

Genji: We’re never going to beat them! They’re huge!
Rouge: If we keep fighting, we’re only going to wear ourselves out. So what’s the point?
Knuckles: The point is that there are people in there, and we’re their only hope! That’s why we came to this dried-out wasteland!
Amy: (realizing that Sonic’s gone) Where did Sonic go? Sonic?

(Amy sees that one of the purple-headed monsters got hold of the X-Tornado; with Tails in it and Sonic on top of it!)

Amy: (furious) LET GO OF MY SONIC, YOU SLIMY LIZARD!

(The monster looks at Amy as she breaks out of the pile and takes out her hammer. She jumps on the monster’s neck and starts to pound on its head.)

Amy: (talking in between hits) Let *pound* go *pound* of *pound* my *pound* Sonic *pound* NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!

(After Amy says “now” she hits the monster so hard that he falls to the ground, dead. The monster releases its grip on the X-Tornado and Amy hops down.)

Amy: Sonic, are you okay?
Tails: (sarcastic) Oh, I’m fine, thanks!
Sonic: (amazed) Yeah, I’m perfectly all right.

(Sonic takes Amy’s hand.)

Sonic: Thank you, Amy.
Amy: You’re welcome.
Genji: All right, enough with the sappy stuff, we still have to save everyone in there, including my sister!
Sonic: (let’s go of Amy’s hand) You’re right. We have to go.
Shane: (from the middle of the pile; muffled) Will then everyone please get off of me?

(Everyone tries to stand up, but they all fall and flip over since they are all so tangled.)

Shane: (stands up) Aaaaaah! Look!

(The monsters are taking everyone out of their base and into glass tubes. Shane sees Tina in one, and she is banging on the glass, trying to get out.)

Tails: What are they doing?

(Shadow runs over to one of the purple-headed monsters and kicks it on the side of its head. The monster falls over, unconscious. Everyone stares in amazement.)

Shane: (amazed) How did you-
Shadow: (interrupting) Save it. I’ve been sensing that you’ve been underestimating my power. Believe me when I say that you can’t do this alone.

(Suddenly, the two remaining purple-headed monsters see their passed out counterpart. The monsters get furious and start hissing and roaring. The two monsters approach the entire group, cornering them.)

Genji: (scared) Umm, Shadow? It may be the time to use your Ultimate Life Form powers now…
Shadow: There’s not enough room, and I don’t want any one of you getting injured.
Amy: Okay… we’re doomed! What’re we going to do?!
Sonic: (confident) I’ll get us out of this!

(Sonic spins into a ball and zooms towards one of the monsters. The monster just hits Sonic with its swordfish nose, sending Sonic crashing on the ground.)

Sonic: O-kay! We’re officially doomed.
Rouge: Well, I’m not! (flies away)
Knuckles: (yelling after Rouge) Hey! You get back here and help us, you backstabber!
Rouge: Why? You’re all just going to get killed, so why should I die too?

(Rouge flies too high for the monsters to reach her, and she disappears.)

Tails: This is terrible! Now our team is down by one!
Shane: (thinking) That may be true, but our team has also gained one, me! (out loud) Stand back everybody!

(Shane takes off his whip and starts to whip at the monster’s face. One of the monsters backs up trying to escape the whip, but also giving the Sonic team room to escape themselves!)

Shane: (still whipping) Run!
Genji: What about you?
Shane: (still whipping) That doesn’t matter! Just get out of here!

(Everyone runs away, but Shane stays behind to hold off the monsters. The other one starts to close in on Shane. Shane starts to whip at both of them, but one of the monsters finally bites down on it and throws it to the side. When Shane is completely closed in, a sudden flash of black and red comes out of nowhere and punches one of the monsters. The monster retaliates and tries to catch the creature. Then Shane realizes who it is.)

Shane: Shadow?
Shadow: Now you get out of here!

(Shane is about to say something, but decides not to and runs. Shane watches Shadow fight the monster, and then he takes out his lasso and lassos the monster around the neck.)

Shane: Not to burst your bubble, Shadow, but you’re not the only one with great power!

(Shane pulls on the lasso, flipping the monster on it’s back. Shane then uses his lasso to tie the monster’s legs and long neck together. Shane triumphantly stands on top of the monster’s head, looking down at Shadow.)

Shadow: (grinning) I like your style, kid.
Shane: (sarcastic) I guess you’re not that bad, either.

(The other monster, (the one Shane didn’t tie up) jumps out of nowhere and knocks Shane off the tied-up monster. Shadow’s grin disappears, and he is about to fight the monster until Dr. Eggman flies in in his little mini-ship.)

Dr. Eggman: (laughing) Woo ho ho ho! You actually thought you could win?
Everyone: Eggman!
Dr. Eggman: Yes, good evening everyone! It’s been awhile, hasn’t it?
Sonic: What are you doing here?
Dr. Eggman: Funny you should ask! I just wanted to see how you were all doing.
Genji: Well, we’re doing great, you happy?
Dr. Eggman: Now who’s this? What a cute little fellow!
Amy: What are you doing here?!
Dr. Eggman: Now, now, don’t be hasty! And since I already have defeated you, why not tell my brilliant plan? Now, as you all may know, I had a little request for my good friend, Shane, here.
Shane: (defensive) I was never your friend!
Dr. Eggman: (ignoring Shane) I noticed how skilled and clever he is, so I asked him to steal a few Chaos Emeralds for me. I had my methods of bribing, and eventually he agreed.
Shadow: (shocked) Shane, you said you were forced to steal the Emeralds, not bribed.
Shane: (drops his head) Uhhh…
Dr. Eggman: Anyway, he got me two Chaos Emeralds, and of course I kept my side of the deal. Afterwards, I told these creatures that Shane could be found on this planet!
Shane: You told them?!
Dr. Eggman: Yes, I did. Since your skills were so beautifully neat, they lost track of you long ago!
Sonic: So why did you tell them to attack this planet?
Dr. Eggman: I was just getting to that. Now, where was I? Oh, right! The reason I told them to come here was because I wanted you to come back here and attempt to save this planet! And I knew the rest of the Sonic team would come too! Now you’ve all fallen into my trap! Now I have you all! Now I will finally destroy Sonic and all of his little friends! Woo ho ho ho!
Knuckles: So, Eggman. This is your ‘brilliant plan’? You know you’ll never beat us, right?
Dr. Eggman: O Contraire, my little echidna friend! As you can see, you’re cornered! Not even all of your strength combined can save you!

(Shane jumps back on top of the tied up monster to get closer to Eggman.)

Shane: Then what were you doing in Sonic’s house?
Dr. Eggman: You still haven’t figured it out? I was spying! I made sure you were buddies with Sonic so that when you went back to save your planet, he and his crew would come along!
Shane: (grinning) You really are a sneaky little devil, huh?

(When Shane stops talking, he jumps off the tied up monster, barely avoiding the teeth of the other one.)

Shane: Shadow! Get the others to safety! I can handle this!
Shadow: All right, if you’re sure you’re okay.
Shane: Sure I’m sure! Just get the others to safety! This could get ugly!

(Shadow leaves the scene with the rest of the team, but before he does, he throws Shane his whip, which was still on the ground)

Shadow: (throwing the whip to Shane) You might need this.

(Shane nods to Shadow, and the team leaves the scene. Shane starts to whip at the monster’s eyes, holding it back. Suddenly, Shane pulls back his whip.)

Shane: (screaming) Aaaaaahhhh!

(Shane releases the whip, sending a fatal blow to the monster. The hit took all of Shane’s energy because it had signs of electric shock in the whip itself. The monster screams in agony before dropping to the ground. Shane begins panting and drops to his knees. He falls on his stomach. His mind blacks out for a few moments. The next thing he knows, he’s inside one of the glass chambers. He starts to pound on the glass.)

Shane: (shocked) What?! No! I can’t have lost! Where are the others?

(Shane looks in the other glass chambers. He sees that Sonic and his friends aren’t anywhere to be found. Suddenly, Monster 3, the golden-headed one, bends down in front of him.)

Monster 3: Ha! You actually thought you could stop me! Sure, your team defeated the four amethysts, but the sapphire, peridot, and me, the golden, are too powerful.
Shane: Where are the rest of them?
Monster 3: Ah yes, your gang. We have your friends on radar. Soon, they’ll be no more…
Shane: I know what I did to you was wrong! But please, don’t hurt them. They did nothing wrong! Do whatever you want to me, just don’t harm anyone else.
Monster 3: Do I hear… begging?
Shane: (strongly) I’m not one to beg.
Monster 3: I certainly like your strength in your personality, but we need you for an important issue. It’s impossible to let you out, as we would never finish our mission.
Shane: (interested) Mission?
Monster 3: Yes. Our mission was to capture you, take a DNA sample, and make clones to add to our army!
Shane: Why would you need me?
Monster 3: Oh, not just you. We have a list of DNA samples we need. Others on our list are Sonic the Hedgehog, Shadow the Hedgehog, and Knuckles the Echidna. It seems we’ve hit the jackpot! We needed the strongest, most powerful, and most skilled life forms, and those were only a few on our list. That includes you.
Shane: Then why did you clone all these others? Were they all on your list too?
Monster 3: Of course not. These clones are only going to be experiments for testing out new weaponry.

(Shane remembers how Tina was never cloned.)

Shane: (thinking) Tina doesn’t have a clone, so she’ll get killed if they test the weapons on her! (out loud) How do you know if they’re clones? What if not everyone here is a clone?
Monster 3: Absurd. We rounded up every civilian in this city and took copies of them.
Shane: (loudly) No, you didn’t! The female raccoon, Tina, doesn’t have a clone.
Monster 3: So? We can use the real one, it doesn’t matter.
Shane: (furious) It does matter! She’s my best friend! I won’t let you kill her to test your stupid weapons! How could you be so cruel? What did she ever do to you?
Monster 3: Don’t you get it? We don’t care about these invaluable city-dwellers! We don’t care! And there’s nothing you can do about it!
Shane: (sneakily) That’s what you think.
Monster 3: (confused) Huh?
Shane: (Starting to turn darker) You know, you don’t like me when I’m angry…

(Shane’s voice trails off, and instead of his normal yellow and green colors, he starts to turn more and more blackish. Shane closes his eyes, and he turns completely black. He starts to laugh menacingly, and when he opens his eyes, they are black and beady, and they aren’t blue anymore. His scary laughs start to get louder, and suddenly, he breaks the glass. He jumps high out of the tube, and lands perfectly on his two feet behind Monster 3.)

Monster 3: (shocked) What the-
Shane: (not laughing anymore) I’ll give you one last chance; Let. Them. Go.
Monster 3: You don’t scare me, hedgehog! I’m not afraid!
Shane: Oh, you will be…

(Shane takes off his whip, which is glowing with electricity, just like when he killed the purple headed monster a little while ago. He lifts it above his head, and he gets a sinister look in his black eyes. He brings the whip down with all his might, and he starts to whip at Monster 3. Monster 3 tries to step on him, but Shane keeps on whipping. Shane finally whips so hard that he cuts Monster 3’s neck clean off. There is no blood, and the inside of his neck looks like the same as his skin. Shane pants, but then he takes a deep breath and runs off to find Tina. He is still in his Dark Form. He sets everyone free, and he finally gets to Tina’s tube.)

Shane: Tina, are you all right?
Tina: (frightened) Who are you?
Shane: What are you talking about? It’s me, Shane!
Tina: Shane wouldn’t turn into his Dark Form to save me!
Shane: Oh, yes he would!
Tina: Shane? That’s really you?
Shane: The one and only!
Tina: Shane, I don’t believe it! You go through all this trouble… for me?
Shane: Why are you surprised? You’re my best friend. Now let’s get you out of here-

(Shane is about to break the tube, but Monster 2 picks up Shane with its long rat-tail.)

Monster 2: Ha! What do you think you’re doing?
Shane: I’m saving my best friend’s life, what does it look like I’m doing?!
Monster 2: Oh no you’re not!

(Shane suddenly goes out of his Dark form and back into his normal yellow self. While this is happening, Shane is thrashing around, yelling in pain. He closes his eyes tight, and when he opens his eyes and they are blue again. He keeps thrashing around until he stops and hangs limply.)

Tina: What did you do to him?!
Monster 2: I only drained all of his power and energy!
Tina: You did what? Is he…
Monster 2: Of course, what did you think?

(Tina’s eyes well up with tears as she falls to her knees inside the tube.)

Tina: (crying hard) He knew what he did was wrong, but did you really have to kill him?
Monster 2: This isn’t only because he stole the Chaos Emeralds, he destroyed our leader and the four amethysts!
Tina: (still crying hard) He only did that because of what your leader was trying to do! It wasn’t Shane’s fault!
Monster 2: (annoyed) You know what? You can cry as much as you want, he’s not coming back!
Shane’s Clone: Think again.

(Monster 2 and Tina look behind Monster 2. Shane’s Clone is walking towards them.)

Tina: Shane?
Shane’s Clone: No. I’m Shane’s Clone. But I can bring back the real Shane.
Tina: How?
Shane’s Clone: There can only be one Shane.

(Shane’s Clone walks over to where Monster 2 threw Shane’s lifeless body, and Shane’s Clone grabs the body’s arm. You can almost see the strands of life running down the clone’s arm and into the real Shane’s arm. Suddenly, Shane’s Clone drops to the ground. The real Shane sits up slowly, and he turns to look back at Tina.)

Tina: (very happy) Shane!
Monster 2: (very angry) What?!
Shane: (to Monster 2) Oh, now you’re in for it.

(Monster 2 seems afraid of Shane, and starts to back up. When Shane takes out his whip, he lifts an eyebrow in a challenging manner. Monster 2 nonchalantly backs away faster, and suddenly Monster 2 starts to gallop away, whimpering like a dog. Shane then puts his whip back on and walks over to Tina’s tube. He motions for her to move back against the wall. Shane walks backwards, and then he bolts towards the glass, trying to break it. He breaks it, but then he finds his face very close to Tina’s. Both of them just gaze into each other’s eyes when Shane and Tina’s hands touch. Tina snaps out of the trance and speaks up.)

Tina: (awkward) Shane?
Shane: (snapping out of it) Oh! (backs away) I’m sorry.
Tina: We should, um, go get your friends.
Shane: Yes, um, of course. C’mon let’s go.

Scene 9- A Good Soldier Never Leaves A Man Behind

(Sonic and his friends are all still walking by themselves. Sonic stops, and he speaks up.)

Sonic: (confused) What are we doing?! We should be fighting alongside Shane! A good soldier never leaves a man behind!
Tails: He told us to get out of there, and I think he knows what he’s doing.
Sonic: (worried) Man, I sure hope so.

(Shane and Tina come running in from off-screen.)

Shane: Sonic! Sonic!
Sonic: Shane! Did you win?
Tina: Not yet. There are still people in the tubes, and the green-headed monster is guarding them.
Genji: Tina, you’re okay! (hugs Tina)
Tina: Yes, I’m all right, thanks to this brave hedgehog here. (nods towards Shane)

(Shane blushes and his cheeks turn red.)

Knuckles: We have no time for this, there are innocent lives in danger!
Amy: I think there re only two monsters left…
Shane: (bragging) Ahem, one.
Amy: (sarcastic) Oh excuse me, one monster left.
Shadow: That should be nothing at all.
Tails: Exactly, Shadow! We beat five, we can beat one more.
Sonic: Then what are we all standing around here for?

(Sonic runs at super-sonic speed back to the base. The others follow. They are all at the base, but hiding behind some of the broken tubes. Monster 1 is guarding the entrance to the ship, which is where the rest of the people are.)

Genji: Okay, how are we going to get past that giant?
Shane: Maybe we can create some kind of diversion…

(All of the sudden, Monster 1 yells in pain. It takes something off of its non-facing side and throws it to where the group is, behind the broken tubes. They all see that it is Rouge. Knuckles runs over to her and helps her up.)

Knuckles: (helping her up) Rouge, are you okay?
Rouge: *groan* Yes, I’m fine.
Knuckles: I thought you said you wouldn’t stay.
Rouge: I know, but c’mon, this is way too exciting for me to miss out on!

(Knuckles helps Rouge stand up, and they walk back over to the group. All of the sudden, Shane feels warm wind on his back. He slowly turns around and he comes face-to-face with Monster 1. Shane’s jaw drops. Monster 1 roars loudly, causing everyone to cover their ears. They all see that Monster 1 is behind them and they all scream, except for Shadow.)

Shadow: (firm) You think you’re so scary. Well, you’d better listen up. We’ll never back down. We aren’t afraid of the likes of you!
Genji: Speak for yourself, Shadow!
Shane: (steps forward) Well, I’m not afraid!
Sonic: (steps forward) Yeah! Me neither! C’mon guys, let’s get ‘em!

(Shane let’s everybody else go before him, and he runs back to Tina.)

Shane: Tina, you need to stay here.
Tina: But-

(Shane runs to fight the monster before she could finish her sentence. Suddenly, Monster 1 charges toward Tina and picks her up by the shirt with its swordfish nose and runs into the base.)

Shane: (running after Monster 1) Tina!
Tina: Help! Shane!

(The door of the base slides down, locking itself up. Shane stops running, and he hangs his head. He falls to his knees and punches his palm.)

Shane: (quietly) No.
Tails: What did you say?
Shane: (louder) I said no! As in; No, this can’t be happening! NO!

(Shane literally begins to cry a little bit. Tails tries to comfort him the best he can, but it’s no use. Shane just keeps pushing him away. After a little while, Shane suddenly stands up.)

Shane: (strongly and firmly) You all stay here. Nobody follow me. I’m going to save her myself.
Genji: No you’re not!
Shane: Genji, please.
Knuckles: What’s gotten into you?
Shane: I’ll tell you. Adrenaline. Courage. I can’t explain it, but you all have to stay here.
Amy: But-
Shane: No exceptions.

(Shane turns his back to them and starts to walk away. He starts to pick up speed and run. Everyone just watches as Shane disappears into the dry mist.)

Scene 10- Escape from Destruction Base 0001

(Shane arrives at the door of the monsters’ base. He makes himself flat against the outside wall, and he quietly slides towards the entrance. He looks up and down, planning his way inside. Suddenly, two purple-headed monsters walk out of the entrance, and before the door closes, Shane dives under the door.)

Shane: I’m in, but where’s Tina?

(Shane stands back up and looks around. There are many different tunnels and pathways to choose from.)

Shane: Man, this base looks way smaller from the outside!

(Shane hears yells and screams coming from one hall. He instantly runs at full speed down that hall. He comes to the weapon-testing room. Shane looks in the room, but the camera doesn’t show what he is looking at. On the wall beside Shane, we can see the silhouette of someone getting hit by a bomb. Shane stares in horror.)

Shane: (thinking) This must be where they’re testing their weapons. That means… (out loud) Tina’s in there!

(Shane darts past the weapons being fired in an attempt to get to the people in line. He reaches a line of the real animals and their clones. Everyone has handcuffs on their wrists. An opossum from the line stops him.)

Opossum: (stopping Shane) What are you doing here?
Shane: I’m setting all of you free!
Opossum: Listen, kid, just get out of here. You’re one of the lucky ones, and you just threw away that blessing!? Do you have any idea what they’ll do to you if you’re found!?
Shane: No, you listen! I’m going to infiltrate this awful place, and you’ll all be free. Now, have you seen any of the monsters?
Opossum: They all went to collect some animals they found on radar a little while ago. I feel terrible for those people; they’ll all be in some deep water.
Shane: Animals on radar… Do you know who those animals are?
Opossum: No, but I saw one of them. It was a blue hedgehog. Why are you asking me?
Shane: (thinking) Blue hedgehog… Sonic! (out loud) Don’t worry, you’ll all be safe soon!

(Shane runs down the line, looking for Tina. He finally sees her, and he runs over to her.)

Shane: Tina!
Tina: Shane, what are you doing here?
Shane: Rescuing you, and everybody else here.
Tina: Shane, enough of this wild goose chase! I already know I’m going to die, so what’s the use? Leave now, or you’ll die too!
Shane: (angrily) I don’t care what happens to me! As long as you’re safe, I’m happy. If I get captured, they can do what they want with me. No matter what happens, as long as I know you’re okay…

(Shane’s voice trails off.)

Shane: (sadly) If anything happens to you I’ll… I’ll never forgive myself…
Tina: You need to find Sonic. I’ll be okay, I promise.

(Shane drops his head and closes his eyes. Tina romantically puts her hand on his cheek. Shane’s eyes open and widen at the feel of her hand.)

Tina: I promise.

(Tina takes her hand off his cheek. Shane nods and runs out the door to find Sonic. He runs as fast as he can until he sees someone far-off.)

Shane: (yelling) Hey! You there!

(He catches up to them, and he finds out it’s Shadow.)

Shadow: Shane?
Shane: Shadow?
Shadow: I thought you had to save her ‘alone’.
Shane: Yes, I was. That is until I heard that Sonic was the monsters’ main target!
Shadow: *sigh* You came too late…
Shane: What!? What happened?
Shadow: They took everyone except me. They tried to take me too, but I’m too strong for them. Sonic was too fast for them at first, but they drove him into a net. They’re taking them all back to the base.
Shane: Wait, wait, wait. Who’s ‘they’?
Shadow: Two more of those purple-headed monsters.

(Shane gets a flashback of when he was sneaking into the base and he got in when two more purple-headed monsters came out.)

Shadow: Worst of all, we don’t have a team anymore. How will we save this planet when it’s only the two of us?
Shane: Don’t worry, because I have a plan.
Shadow: Who’s worrying? What’s the plan?
Shane: Okay, here goes…

(The next thing you know, Shane and Shadow are at the base entrance. Shadow signals Shane, and Shane nods in reply. Shane jumps in front of the entrance, running around and acting foolish. Meanwhile, in the control booth, Monster 1 sees the surveillance camera film. He sees Shane jumping up and down and cracking jokes.)

Monster 1: (into a walkie talkie) This is Destruction Base 0001, (screaming) SOMEBODY GET THAT HEDGEHOG! HE’S THE ONE WE’RE AFTER!

(Two smaller monsters with orange heads nod in response. The two orange-headed monsters run outside, but they both trip over Shane’s whip, which is being stretched out by Shadow and Shane on either end. Shadow drops the whip and runs inside. Shane puts his whip back on and follows. The door slides shut behind them. Shane waves at Shadow, signaling him. Shadow and Shane nod at each other. Shadow goes down the hall that leads to the control booth, and Shane runs full speed down the hall to the weapon testing room. He arrives in the room and runs over to the line of animals. He goes down the line, popping everyone’s handcuffs off. He reaches Tina.)

Tina: Shane! You’re back!
Shane: You didn’t think I’d leave you here, did you?
Tina: (smiling broadly) I knew you’d come back.

(Shane pops off Tina’s handcuffs. Meanwhile, Shadow is hiding in the darkness in front of the control booth. All you can see of him are his eyes and the outline of his body. Monster 1 is checking surveillance camera when he heads for the door. Shadow stays flat against the wall until Monster 1 is gone. Shadow sneaks into the control booth and sits down in the chair.)

Shadow: Man, I hope this works…

(Shadow watches until the screen comes to the camera filming inside the weapon-testing room. He sees Shane taking off everyone’s handcuffs, and Shadow pauses the image. He replaces the picture with a picture of the weapon room and everyone still standing in line with their handcuffs on.)

Shadow: That should do it.

(Shadow sneaks back out when he hears the footsteps of Monster 1. Monster 1 just sits back in the chair and observes the camera images. Shadow holds his breath as he watches, worried the plan might not have worked. Monster 1 briefly glances at the screen. Monster 1 looks away for a moment, then looks back at the screen.)

Monster 1: *gasp* Red Alert! Red Alert! All systems go!

(Shadow instantly rushes away with his rocket-powered shoes at the second ‘Red Alert’. Shane hears Monster 1 scream over the intercom ‘Red Alert! Red Alert!’ so he pops off the last person’s handcuffs.)

Shane: (yelling) Everybody run!
Tina: No, not without you.
Shane: (pushing her towards the door) Go now!
Tina: But-
Shane: (interrupting) NOW!

(Tina shakes her head in disbelief and runs out the door. Shadow arrives to the weapon room. They both have to yell because of all the commotion.)

Shane: (sarcastic) So, I take it the plan didn’t work, huh?
Shadow: This is no time for sarcasm! Did you find Sonic and the others?
Shane: No, did you?
Shadow: We can worry about them later; right now we have to get all these people out of here!

(Shane and Shadow push their way to the front of the stampede of people. Shane outstretches his arms to get everyone’s attention.)

Shane: Everybody calm down! Listen, the main entrance is right up this way, so just follow me and Shadow!

(Shane and Shadow both run as fast as they can, leading everyone to the exit. When they finally find the exit, Monster 1 jumps in front of it.)

Monster 1: Halt! You’re not going anywhere!
Opossum: Oh, yes we are!

(Opossum runs right in between Monster 1’s legs, laughing. Everyone else tries to follow, but some more purple-headed monsters come to help their leader. They round up as many people as they can, but Shadow and Shane keep fighting them. Suddenly, both the purple-headed monsters pick up Shadow and Shane with their rat-tails. Shadow tries to break free, but he isn’t strong enough. Neither is Shane. Out of nowhere, the purple monster roars in pain. Shane looks down and sees; Knuckles!)

Knuckles: Need a little help?

(Suddenly, the rest of the gang, Sonic, Amy, Rouge, Tails, and Genji all charge at the monsters. Sonic runs around the monster that has Shadow until the monster gets so dizzy it throws Shadow up in the air. Shadow lands perfectly on his hands and knees. Tails twists his tails around so fast that he lifts off the ground. Tails flies around the monster that has Shane to distract the monster. Tails flies around the monster’s head so that its long neck got all twisted and it falls to the ground. It still had Shane in its grip. Knuckles and Genji try to unwrap the rat-like tail, but it is no use. The monster is too strong.)

Genji: Don’t worry Shane!
Knuckles: Yeah, we’ll get you out!

(Everyone else is fighting the purple-headed monsters, so only Knuckles and Genji could get Shane free.)
Shane: Guys, stop!
Genji: But we have to help you-
Shane: Just stand back…

(The two step back. Shane squeezes his eyes shut.)

Shane: (yelling) Electric Shane!

(Shane opens his eyes. His entire body starts to glow and the green stripes on his arms and legs change into green lightening bolts. Up and down his arms and legs there are large, blue sparks of electricity. Shane clenches his fists and the blue sparks get even bigger and cover his whole body. The monster lets out a horrible screech and Shane breaks free of its grasp. Shane jumps in the air and shoots a blue lightening bolt out of his hand at the monster. All there is left of the monster is a big burnt spot on the steel floor of the base. Everyone, even the other monsters, stare in amazement. Shane jumps in the air again as he vaporizes every other monster in sight. When all the monsters are gone, one of them still remains; Monster 1.)

Monster 1: You cannot hope to stop me! Just watch me finish you off!
Shane: (calmly) No, you watch!

(Shane spins into a ball while still in Electric Shane. Shane’s body is covered in glowing blue sparks. Sonic tries to spin along with Shane, but Sonic gets harshly shocked. Shadow tries the same thing, and the same thing happens. Shane shoots himself at Monster 1, and once again there is nothing but a burnt mark on the floor and smoke everywhere. Everyone cheers.)

Everyone: Yeah! Woo hoo! Go Shane! You did it!

(The smoke clears and they all see Shane in the middle of the burnt spot. Shane is lying on his stomach with his arms extended in front of him. The cheering dies down. Tina runs over to him.)

Tina: (worried) Shane!

(Tina rolls him over on his back. His face and his belly are all black from the ashes on the ground. Tina shakes her head in disbelief. Everyone else stares in silence as Tina is sitting down beside Shane. She brushes the ash off his face.)
Tina: (whispering) Oh, Shane…

(Tina’s cheeks are covered in tears. She wipes them away, but more tears replace them in no time. She sits back up and cries quietly. Everyone else leaves the room and walks outside. Sonic gives a quick glance backwards at Tina, then leaves. After a few seconds, Tina leans down and kisses Shane. She sits back up.)

Tina: This is all my fault…

(Tina stands up and is about to leave when she hears something…)

Shane: (joking) You’re not just going to leave me here, are you?

(Tina turns around and sees Shane trying to get up. She runs back over to him.)

Tina: You’re all right! But how?
Shane: They’re not getting rid of me that easily! Ouch…

(Shane lies back down on the floor, reacting to the pain. Tina sits down on her knees beside him.)

Tina: You’re too crazy for your own good!
Shane: (jokingly) Yep, that’s me!
Tina: I thought you were dead; you scared me!
Shane: I didn’t mean to.

(Shane sits up slowly. He sees that Tina still has tears on her cheeks. He brushes off the tears with his hand, and his glove is almost all the way black.)

Tina: Shane, we should probably get you to a hospital or something-
Shane: Come on, I don’t need any hospital…

(Shane tries to stand up, and Tina helps him. Shane wobbles a little bit on his feet, but Tina catches him and puts his arm around her shoulder. Shane limps outside with Tina. When they go outside, Sonic and the gang is waiting. When they see Shane, they all run over to him.)

Amy: Shane, we thought you were dead!
Shane: Aw, come on! Me? Dead? Pfff!
Sonic: That whole ‘Electric Shane’ thing was sweet!

(Shane takes his arm off Tina’s shoulder, and tries to stand on his own. He falls on the ground, but doesn’t get back up. He sits on the ground.)

Shane: I can’t transform into Electric Shane very often; it takes up tons of my own energy. I’m lucky to have survived!
Tina: And I’m glad you did.

(Tina helps Shane stand up again. All of a sudden, Dr. Eggman flies by on his mini-ship.)

Dr. Eggman: (angry) I can’t believe you won again! You miserable vermin better enjoy the glory, because I’ll be back! Mark my words I’ll-

(Knuckles jumps up and punches Eggman’s ship so hard it flies out of the scene.)

Knuckles: I couldn’t take his lectures for much longer.

(Shane wobbles and falls again, but this time, Tina catches him. Both Shane’s and Tina’s faces are close together. Tails sees this and he whispers to Sonic.)

Tails: (whispering) Maybe we should leave them alone…
Amy: (to Sonic) It’s kind of romantic… isn’t it Sonic?
Sonic: (backing away) Gaaah…

(Sonic runs away, and Amy follows him. The rest of them leave Shane and Tina alone, and they back out of the scene. Shane takes out Tina’s bow.)

Shane: Here, I believe this is yours.

(Tina takes the bow and and looks at it. She looks at Shane, then puts the bow back on. Shane leans in and whispers into Tina’s ear.)

Shane: I don’t know how to say this, but… I love you, Tina.

(Shane closes his eyes.)

Tina: I don’t know how to say this either… so let me show you.

(Tina pulls Shane closer and kisses him. Shane’s eyes open. He turns bright red and his ears flatten against his head. Tina pulls away and she rests her head on his shoulder. She hugs him tight. Shane looks at her lovingly and wraps his arms around her in a hug. The scene fades to black. The End.)
