In the first movie she was known as the Heavely Whippet.
In the second she was given a name and a voice change.
So: Annabelle better in the first movie, second,or the series and why.
Forgot to post my reason,heh.
In the first movie she sounded a lot younger to me and somewhat gullible,-weird since "they know EVERYTHING"
However, in the second like dqst said, she had more authority and sounded like-well,again like dqst said:a preschool teacher.
the robe made her look more angelic, but I was surprised to see her character change like that.
But I still sense that even though her appearance and voice changed she still sang the same rap she did before.(meaning she still took her job way too seriously, but hey she's not just an angel she's a whippet, and she's not just a whippet, she's Annabelle the "flying nun"

The first movie.
Regardless of a name or not, I found her more appealing in the first movie. I just could'nt take her seriously wearing that robe she had on...

Why are you all judging her character in the first movie? She wasn't even given a NAME in the first movie, of course you're not supposed to read into her too much. But eventually you see that she's not this clutzy "preschool teacher" (true, it was funny to see her get tricked like that, but later on you see her in a different light. Pardon the expression). She's an angel, and a rather forgiving one at that.
She wasn't a "GODDESS" like she was made out to be in the second movie. But she was used too much for comic relief and all that, I just could not take her seriously.
I won't even comment on the series.

I like the Annabelle in the first part. It is there such a dear, good emotional and feminine. There was a cheerful sunny disposition. Inaschet drawing. She traced it better than other parts. Adds special glamor to her red ribbon, which is then not pictured.
In the second part she was not the same as in the first. And the portrayal and character. It is much harder and more serious.

Annabelle is and will always be my #1 whippet character of the two movies and series. She is a graceful dancer when Charlie commented on her moves during their so-called waltz in heaven but when he spun her about of course, she laughs and said "Oh, I'm getting dizzy!"
She reminds me of Obi-Wan Kenobi of Star Wars, the Jedi Knight and Master, strong in the light-side of the Force and skilled with a light-saber too. As for her twin cousin-sister Belladonna in All Dogs Go to Heaven the Series, she reminds me of Darth Sidius-Emperor Palpatine the Sith Lord!
