Yesterday, a terrible earthquake caused massive damage in Haiti last not, the injury and death toll are high and a large part of the capital is in ruins. I don't know all the details, but I'm glad the US is quick to help save those in trouble there.

Yes, this is tragic. R.I.P to those who died.

Also, thoughts to the NATO community who have flown to Haiti to give them support.

Sorry, I should have said the people of NATO countries (rather then used "community")

There's normally a topic like this when something like this happens, the reason this is diffrent was the scale and power of the quake, that and it basically destroyed a countries capital. Speaking of which, their capital building was leveled in the quake as well.

Terrible, but that's life. Earthquakes happen, and the only they can do is help the country. And to think, they were(for the most part) poor before it happened. Now... I wish those people, everyone involved, the best.

I've read that the British Red Cross is asking for donations, and in it's first week got over 8 million pound!

Also this is not the first time earthquakes strike this planet...and there are news papers so there is really no need for topics like this one imo...

But its tragic indeed. 3rd major earthquake in 2010 already.

3rd earthquake of 2010? When and where were the first two? :scratch:

The reason to why you haven't heard about them is probably because no one died and people rely to much on media. Media only writes about things that will catch your eye like this, Death = Good news. Its not likely that they would write "earthquake today at a magnitude of 7.3.... no one died".

anyways first one;
Solomon Islands http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/ ... s2010rabw/
second one of shore offshore California http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/ ... 338066.php

Of course this is only the 3 MAJOR earthquakes in 2010. Your government have a pretty reliable page on earthquakes; http://earthquake.usgs.gov/

Sadly, that's true. I wish the media would think that maybe people would like some good news once in awhile, that can catch attention to, but sadly, they just want to show good things if there's a shootout or attempted act of violence involved.

Anyway, I've heard there were an unfortunate amount of deaths in this one... :cry:
