Then leave if you don't like it here, no one's holding you against your will. Get a messenger to chat with your friends, or get them to join you on other sites.

If you want to know a trick to remembering the rules: Remember only that which is bolded. That's the highlight point; the rest is merely an elaboration to make them more clear. If you can do that, it's a no-brainer. And, like I've told many others, if you have severe "people problems" an on-line community may not be for you. Why? Because people are all different. And especially in a community so large as Balto Source, you will encounter people who really don't care. For the most part being because they have things going on in their life that do not involve butt-kissing to make every member feel cushioned. You won't always feel like you're 100% welcome somewhere. You'll get into those places -- such as school or work -- where someone doesn't like what you do or say and will tell you. Members harping you about the rules care. Think about it: They're, by harping you about the rules, saving you from being banned for breaking them. You shouldn't take the Internet so seriously as to cry over peoples' behavior towards you. It's unhealthy. Rather than "standing up for yourself" and swearing in a rant topic, why don't you ignore them? Ignore them and go back to your role plays with your friends, carry on. It's that simple. By swearing people out in a rant topic, you are in turn insulting them and causing only more issues. Also, Yahoo! Messenger isn't a role-play site. However, you can IM friends and role-play with them that way. It's simple, easy, and free. Your resources are definitely not limited to forums here. _________________ EDIT: Quote: First Post: This site annoys me incredibly and I even get nightmares about it. People are so un-friendly and just moan about everything you do.......
Your Reply to Draco: Seriously though, no disrespect but it's not that I don't like it here...... Paradox (contradiction). You gave Draco (and everyone else) the indication that you, in fact, do not like it here.

I only cried about all this when I first started and that was when I felt insulted. I just couldn't take it anymore and had to get it all off my chest. I'm sorry if you think I'm being a pain in the backside, I just had to say something. Sometimes, just getting it off your chest is all you need to do to feel better. I still remember some of the noobish things I did when I first started out on forums about three years ago and the disappointment of having ideas shot down. However, I got back up, dusted myself off and learned from my mistakes. You yourself have already come a long way from when you started, and you will continue to improve with practice. You'll never find a place where 100% of the people will like you, but that won't matter as long as you have a group of friends that you can have fun with. So I'm saying the same thing as Kirada; Go back to your friends on the RP boards and have fun with them.

To be honest, people may seem like they complain about everything but- People do the same thing OVER AND OVER again. There is a line of point when it wears people down for when they follow the rules, and others don't. It's common for those who have been here for a while, months even, and if you do break the rule - They are only trying to remind you of it. It may seem mean- but these violations of the rules, get old, quick.

I can actually get where you're coming from, just from watching I've noticed people often get a bit /too/ full of themselves when telling people about the rules. (I.e: Not taking into consideration how new a person is and telling them the rules in a rather rude manner.)
However, the best advice has already been given: Internet forums are always a tough place to communicate if you have problems with people but by learning how to brush things you make life so much easier for yourself. Someone will /always/ have a differing opinion, be a bit harsh, be a bit rude or simply feel like putting you down. It sucks. It really does but unfortunately it's what happens everywhere.
By no means is this an excuse for it, simply an explanation. A way I often used to deal with it, and still do to some degree, is have a good rant - whether to someone else or to yourself - and then get back to doing what it is you enjoy doing. Once you try for a bit, it's actually rather easy to ignore the things that otherwise may anger or upset you. Especially on the internet - the "back" button can be a god-send. ;]
I hope you manage to feel better and I'm sorry your experience of AS thus far hasn't been so good.

I see, so you know of a site that does roleplaying and is based around my interests? Because I've looked. Err - Create your own? I've done it, I created my own RP forum (Private, of course) that has no boundaries, I create the rules. It's so fun, if you don't know how, I'll make one for ya.

Seriously, if it's so terrible, then leave or buck up and stop complaining. The internet will be cruel, it's not new news. You just have to learn to roll with the punches. It's sink or swim on the internet, and the people who just endlessly complain (Not saying that's you) sink.

Actually you are kind of right. If you're one of the people who just joined you shouldn't be expected to know every rule, but there are important rules you should know as well, like, no profanity. But rules aren't made to be broken, if you know the rules already, don't just break them for fun,but people make mistakes...so don't be a rules freak.Besides, people do get embarrassed if you call them out for the least little thing. I would know, I only joined a couple days ago.

The written rules are easy enough to follow. It's the underlying and "implied" rules that get people. There are a set of unspoken rules that govern the membership of these forum. These rules include but are not limited to the following:
1) Criticism of staff is not allowed. This includes things like questioning their abilities to be mods, questioning their actions, and questioning their motives.
2) Friends of staff members are not to be trifled with. - The Golden Rule. If nothing else, pay attention to this.
3) You are not allowed to disagree with somebody beyond saying as such. "I disagree with you." is about all you can get away with. If it goes beyond this, you will attract moderator attention. Also, very likely, you will be accused of starting a flame war or contributing to it.
4) If a flame war is started (keeping in mind it tends to be considered one if a conflict elevates higher than previously stated), then ALL members participating in the discussion will be reprimanded. A moderator will post a generalized statement that targets all current participants of the discussion. This message from the moderator will be along the lines of "Guys, you need to stop this flame war, or I will lock this topic." Finally, it is possible that the topic will be locked before anyone has a chance to remedy the situation.
5) Not a rule, but something you should be aware of. If you break the rules or are disliked by the staff for whatever reason, you WILL be discussed in the Mod Box. And not in a professional manner.
Of course, none of these are written down officially in such a way that it is available to the public eye. The above is not and was not intended to be any sort of authoritative statement, simply observations made from years of membership.
