Ok so this is just so I can get some Clarification on if they well ever make a Balto 4. Lets get some things out of the way.

First of all this is my first forum post on this site so I hope I make it good :P

Second. Getting back on topic I have been digging around on various sites and have seen a couple of petitions although I have no idea if they are even still around. (Side note I signed the one here if it still counts for anything) I then came across this site and dug some more. I read how you got that letter from Glenn Ross and I read some peoples reply to that thread post (Along with the petition ones) and have to say I am a bit confused. I know for a fact that we will not get a Balto 4 anytime soon. My question is WILL we get one? It seems that some people say it is hopeless now but I am just curious. With all the Fan art, Fan fiction, and Fan Dubs, it seems if they did make it they would make money. Now I am not saying they would get A LOT of money but diffidently profit. I also have proof. In that interview with Phil Weinstein, when asked If it was possible to make a film with no budget he said, and I quote "Yes, much easier to make a film with no budget nowadays. Cameras are much cheaper, and you can do most of the production work on a home computer." Which to me says that if Universal gave them even less then half a deceit budget that they could make a good movie, profit (which is what they care about) and then possible make more.

So what do you guys think? Is this to much to hope for or is there the slimiest chance?

I hate to say it, but at this point, there is next to no hope. Universal has made it clear that they don't want to do a fourth.

Our best chance is to either get them to release a special edition Balto DVD (which is the subject of the second petition Steet made), or to convince them to put it on the iTunes store (which is discussed here: balto-on-the-itunes-store-t25605.html)

I think its safe to say the Balto series will stay a trilogy, which honestly may be a good thing. You don't want to risk tarnishing the good image with the potential of bad sequels.

Yeah I can see why you would say that I guess I just kind of wanted a prequel more then anything XD. I really am curious to see his parents story.

I wonder if Universal has considered doing such a movie. That sure would be interesting.

Exactly what I was thinking. It's not really a Balto movie if you think about it. Also you don't have to like the last two to want to see it.

Universal pretty much dumped Balto in the land fill.

So, no, there won't be a Balto 4. Only because Balto III was a failure; it didn't so hot out on the shelves.

It's not that I think the sequels epically failed (which they borderline did...), it's that the animation just got so bad in the last two,
I don't think I could handle a fourth. Course with the right animators and writers, I think they could make a decent 4th.
Following the trend of the 2nd and 3rd, Balto and Jenna still have some pups yet who weren't given a movie.

No, and it's not just Balto or even Universal. You need to take a step back to understand.

The whole "direct-to-video" business is down. No movie company is doing anymore DTV sequels. Disney abandoned them since the buyout of Pixar, not because they weren't profitable (I still think they would), but because they were mostly uncreative and gave a bad image to the company. (They still released the ones that were in production, which is why we got some until 2007) As for Universal, they've stopped doing Land Before Time sequels. Other companies have stopped doing them, even more long ago. (Fox, Dreamworks...) The only exception is Curious George 2 from Universal, which will be released soon but was probably in production during a long time, but that's probably the last one we'll ever see.

Good thing or not, the fact is here : there is no chance of seeing a direct to video sequel to Balto (or any other traditional animated film) now. (and we can forget about a theatrical one...especially considering the original one bombed at the box office)

Meh oh well. Thanks for answering my question guys :P I guess it's good we are not getting a 4th because that good ruin it but it still could have been entertaining. This does however give the Fanfic writers a chance to shine. Which they have as far as I can see XD.

To beat a dead horse, the only way Balto 4 would be made is if AS raised enough money to cover the costs of an entire animated film plus the salaries for the people working on it and signed a blood oath to buy at least five copies of whatever was produced no matter how wretchedly awful the product is.

That's to say, it'll never happen. It's a shame, a prequel would be nice.

Actually I read on this forum they are making a Balto movie this summer. It won't be animated but it will be more like an action movie.

Maybe that will promote a 4th animated movie. It will bring much needed to the animated Balto movies and just Balto in general. And maybe because of that they will make a 4th animated movie. Because like the people on this forum I'm positive others will fall in love with the trilogy as well.
