Ok, here comes the problem...yesterday afternoon I made a render for Xion Fan, her character Mirage with my character Lou, since they're mates now...obviusly, to see the image I had to wait the validation from the moderation, well, yesterday evening many galleries were updated but not mine, I thought that maybe I sent the pic too late and the mods had already checked them, so when this morning I saw that my image wasn't still validated, I went in "Send to the site" and I saw that my image didn't respected the rules... Oo and want to know why? Because image that aren't Balto screenshots are no longer accepted...WHAT?! so, tell me, how in the world can you render into Balto or Steele or Jenna a character that is a chihuahua for example? and so, this means that you can only have character that have the same built as a wolf or a husky? and the image I had sent was in a backround from Balto (the boiler room) and it had a character rendered over Balto (my char Lou), but obviusly, I couldn't render Xion's char Mirage into Jenna or Aleu because she is a dalmationXenglish setter so I took an image of Perdita from 101 Dalmatians, here it is the image

so, from where this rule come from? some days ago I sent images that contains not only Balto based chars and they were validated without problems and yesterday I didn't respected the rules?!

It's here because people were sending so many renders from other movies.
As has been said a lot; this is a Balto fan site (or whichever of the other sources you're on) and it is for Balto fan work. Not OCs.
I know people enjoy sharing them, I do too, but it's becoming "OC Source" and not "Balto Source". Even if your character is related to Balto, just another breed, the newer rule still stands. There's always lineart to use.

However, I will apologize that this wasn't announced properly; that was a huge mistake on our part and we're sorry.

I know, I know, this a Balto site but so this means that you can's have other chars than your version of Balto and Jenna family? There was already a modifications because many people had chars that were from other places or even from other time but now it's necessary to write "Relation to Balto" and no problem about this but, they exist many other breeds, not just husky or wolves and they can't be rendered into Balto or Jenna body...for me, this is not very fair, if you want to have a char that is a different breed from a husky or a wolf you are penalized...if you enjoy more doing a render than a drawing, you can't even use that character...

Hence why I suggested using lineart. Many times when I've been bored I've made an image out of lineart.

Perhaps steet should open a "fan works" section on Animation Source? Or animation not really related to any of the other source sites? Or for general works?

Now that's an idea... it would probably save Balto source from a character over run...

It's acceptable according to the rules, although I agree that there is something needed to prevent overuse of renders from other characters.

The fan images sections looks nothing like I intended it to be in the first place.


The problem is, I don't have the money and servers to be enough competitive against bigger sites like DeviantArt. And if it's not for bringing something new or different from such sites, then I'd rather not too.
But maybe one day I'll change my mind.
