RP about Charcoal going out into the wild to find her father Buck.

Mindy sighed and glanced down at the wriggling pups by her side. All had survived and all looked so perfect. If only their father was here...
Mindy's owners, who had checked each pup, patted her on the head and left the red husky to bond with her new pups. Mindy nuzzled them and thought about her mate, Buck. Had he survived? If he was, was he back with Kaya? She had no idea.
The tired husky yawned and placed her head around her pups and drifted off into an uneasy sleep, dreaming of what her pups' futures would be like.


ONE YEAR LATER....

Charcoal woke from her peaceful slumber quickly as morning had greeted her through the window in her human's room. She stood, stretched then walked downstairs, hoping breakfast was waiting. Her body was still worn out from yesterdays sled race, but what else would you expect from a one year olds body? Charcoal ate her breakfast quickly then lifted her head to see her human approaching her. She wagged her tail and barked a hello, "Good morning Charcoal. Did you have a good sleep?" Her human patted Charcoal's head then walked into the kitchen. Charcoal grinned at her human then trotted out the doggy door. She could tell today was going to be a beautiful day as soon as she walked outside. The sun shined and everyone in the town seemed to be full of action.

Mindy smiled and greeted the dogs she knew as she went along. Since a year ago, she had healed considerably. Memories of walking the same street with someone else didn't seem to bother her that much anymore, even if she did still miss him every day. As she reached the center of town, she noticed Charcoal stepping out onto her front porch.
"Hey there hon, congratulations on your first race!" she beamed, nuzzling her oldest daughter.

Charcoal wasted no time nuzzling her mother back, "Hey Mom. Thanks. I just hope we can do as good next race. How was your sleep?" She smiled at her mother. Every time she thought about her mother, she also thought about that dark cloud that loomed over her head, left by her father. Almost all the time she wished that she could find him, bring him back, and become a whole family like she figured her mother wanted. For now though, she was just going to have to wait.

"We should go tell your Uncle Balto! Did you know he used to be the best sled dog in town? I'm sure he was at the race yesterday too"
Ever since Mindy had the pups, Balto and Jenna had helped raise the litter of five. So Balto had almost been like a father to the pups.

"That’s a great idea! I heard about that. Didn’t he also save the whole town from a disease?" She tilted her head slightly as she started walking. She loved her uncle Balto and the stories that him and Kodi told her. They usually seemed to be mostly about his first big adventure, but sometimes they talked about when he beat the mail plane. She sometimes even wished she could be a big hero when she got older.

"Yup!" Mindy nodded happily as they walked along. "I never seem to stop talking about that though, huh?"
The pair laughed at that then continued on the way to Balto's boat. Just before they reached the outskirts of town, Mindy had a strange feeling... as if someone was following them.
"Hello?"

Charcoal grinned, "Yeah but its nice to think about it." Her smile quickly faded as she suddenly had the same feeling she figured her mother had. Someone was following them, but who? Charcoal turned around and could feel herself go on full alert. She bared her fangs slightly and gave off a low growl. If someone harmful was following them she was prepared to defender her mother at all costs.

From out from behind them came an eerily familiar figure. Klondike. The dog owned by Nome's sheriff.
"Um, hi there Klondike" Mindy began awkwardly. "You kind of caught us off-gaurd"
Mindy relaxed a little but ever since her mate had gone off, Klondike had been trying to get closer. Mindy shrugged off the gross feeling and tried to smile.
"Is there something you need to say?"

Charcoal relaxed a little, but she still felt like he was a shady figure. She kept her guard up and stayed close to her mother. She had noticed that he had tried to get closer to her mother but she wasn’t going to have it. And, she could tell that her mother didn’t like him as much as he seemed to like her. Charcoal faked a smile, "Hello Klondike. Sorry about my reaction."

Klondike smiled at Charcoal pleasantly.
"Buck would've attacked me" Klondike replied with a fake smile. "So it's alright. You have better manners then him anyway"
Mindy furrowed her brow.
"Is there something we can do for you, sir? We have somewhere to be. She doesn't need to know about Buck right now!"
"She doesn't know her father?" Klondike chuckled. "It's probably better that way! With him around, she would've turned out like him!"
"You have no right to talk about him OR my daughter like that!" Mindy snarled, getting so close to Klondike that their noses touched. "And I chose him over you... and I still will even if it only comes down to you"

Hearing all of this made Charcoal almost explode on the inside. How dare Klondike say such nasty things about her father! And her included! She started baring her teeth and growling once again, only this time, more fierce. She quickly snapped and wasted no time tackling Klondike to the ground. She pinned him there and kept on paw on his throat, "Forgive me for not knowing my father, but I guarantee I know him a whole lot better than you ever will. What’s horrible is that you’re so scared to talk about him while he's around, that you’re talking about him behind his back. What kind of sheriff are you?!" Charcoal barked out the last words loudly. She was completely furious with his act.

"Come on Charcoal" Mindy muttered, motioning for her to get off. "We have more important things to deal with"
Klondike growled low in his throat, blue eyes burning.
"Maybe I was wrong about you" he growled. "Even if he wasn't here you're still infected"
"Shut it Klondike" Mindy snapped, then added softly," Let's get on to Balto's hon"

Charcoal growled even louder but she obediently got of Klondike. She turned away from him and faced her mother, "I’m sorry mother. Yes lets continue to Balto's boat." She gave a slight smile then looked back at Klondike with a small growl, "You’re lucky... Goodbye Klondike." She started off toward Balto's boat.
