I stumbled upon that article, comparing Talespin with...Lost (season 4)

http://ifoughtthelaw.cementhorizon.com/ ... 07334.html

Strange comparative, but interesting nonetheless :)

I thought a few of the comparisons were iffy, but it was pretty creative. Still, Talespin > Lost.

It once crossed my mind to write a parody fic called Lost Horizons where the gang crash land on an island where Shere Khan's running a weird science experiment, with Buzz as the guy down in the bunker. Naturally, the air pirates show up as well - taking The Others' place. And so on. Never got around to it, though.

Steet,

I strongly disagree with that character comparison between Miles Straume
and Kit Cloudkicker, there is not a thread of truth to them

First, it said "Miles and Kit are both sarcastic and aggressive"

Kit is not aggressive, he's street smart and protective of the people he comes to like. He was a lonely child with no families, any kid like that would do anything for friends and a family, and once they get them, they treasure them.

And then it said "and Kit is an orphan, meaning his parents are dead. Kit often refers to Baloo as "Papa Bear," while Miles referred to Jack as "Handsome" during their first meeting, indicating that both characters are prone to using homoerotic nicknames with other men."

Kit is NOT like that, the only one he ever gave a nickname to was Baloo and that's because he looks up to Baloo as a father figure, not because he's homoerotic. And Kit didn't nicknamed Baloo until the rescue flight to Pirate Island, so it wasn't during the first interaction.

And let me remind you that he had friends in the Jungle Aces and he gave none of them nicknames of any sort.

So forgive me for saying this, but that whole character comparison is stupid.

Interesting comparison indeed. I've never watched Lost so I can't say how accurate they are...

<sarcasm class="good-natured-ribbing">
Except for the Kit Cloudkicker comparison, I totally agree with that. Kit is definitely super-sarcastic and extremely aggressive. I'm pretty sure he goes on to become a sociopathic serial killer. Actually I think he was a serial killer in the show but they just didn't show that part.

As for being homoerotic, I completely agree with that! Kit and Baloo are possibly, no, scratch that, definitely, without a doubt, the most homoerotic cartoon duo since Batman and Robin.

Obviously Mr. hb (the article's author) is an encyclopedia of TaleSpin and I can only hope to one day approach his level of understanding of the intricacies of the TS characters and their (sometimes homoerotic) relationships. Thanks hb!
</sarcasm>

Seriously though, When I read the part about Kit being sarcastic and aggressive, I thought, "Wow, Kc5 is gonna love this!". But when I got to the "Kit and Baloo are homoerotic" part, I feared for Kc5's health. I thought, "Oh no! His head's gonna explode!" :o And just to clarify further, of course I don't agree with anything that guy said about Kit. I doubt he did either.

He probably just did it to get more hits and comments, or just to get a laugh. Besides, whenever I encounter a non-fan speaking obvious nonsense about TS, (or any other show, movie, music, etc.) on the "I care what you say" scale of 0-100, I usually give them a rating of somewhere between 0 and negative infinity. In other words, if Mr hb makes ridiculous statements about TS proving that he can't possibly be a fan, then why be bothered by what he says?

And yes, the character comparison was stupid, but it killed five minutes out of my day, which is exactly what it was supposed to do. I like the occasional crazy article, so thanks steet! :)

Well of course, the fact that I posted that does not mean I agree with it. It's just that I found it and thought it could be interesting to talk about.
Actually I read it quickly and didn't notice the part that you mentioned. Well at least this topic made you reply

Seems difficult to rate such different series...Personally, Talespin has become my favorite animated TV series, and Lost is one of the live series I like the most. Still, they don't target the same audience, people who watch both are "exceptions"...
