Yes, signatures. Why do people have such a problem turning them off, and keeping them small?

Size:

I have seen so many people with signatures the size of the comment box on BS art galleries, times 2. It is not that hard to crop and shrink, that's what editing programs are for.It gets in my way, and I cannot stand it. It takes up so much room unnecessarily, and it takes your attention away from the actual post, making it hard to reply most times. 'Specially in RPs. I've seen a signature filled with those things you click and help 'grow' that took up almost a full page. A page. Come on people!

Role-Plays:

So many people forget to turn off their signatures in RP's, or make up patheic excuses. Like,

"I don't know how!" There is a check box list underneath where you type. The fourth one down says, 'Attach a signature (signatures can be altered via the UCP) Click it, make the check go away. There your sig is off. Talk about obvious.

"I forgot!" It's in the Role-Playing rules! You should have remembered most of them! So many topic's get locked because of this, and there are really good RP's out there, dead and locked because of some stupid user who 'forgot' or 'didn't know how' to turn off their signatures. THe rules are there for a reason, try to memorize them, or atleast read over them one more time if you are not sure about something.

Links:

Links to your art gallery and RP's are fine, but links to youtube videos?

I mean, if they were made by you, I can understand that. But most of them aren't, and they are linked to stupid stuff, or tupid games. I never click on that stuff, and would advise you not to. You never know what could be in them. Ecspecially the things where it says...

"Click, and turn up the volume ALL the way before clicking"

Nobody falls for it, except some poor sap. Seriously, I don't know what's in it, and I don't plan to click on it. Have you heard the expression,

"Wary on the Web?" Uh huh, you should have. You should try following that person's advice.

Click and Make This Grow!:

Yeah, those things? They are annoying, and alot of people don't follow that user's advice. They usually find it annoying too, and avoid it, except for a few younger kids, who I feel so very sorry for, for being drawn into that.

All you do, click! And oh my gosh, I made it level! Whoopee! eah, not mine, don't really care. So very fun.

So that was just my opinion on some things. I had to get that off my chest, that has been bugging me for ages!

Thanks for reading this, hopefully fully, cause it took forever to type.

Signature size isn't as bad here as another place I frequent, so it's not particularly terrible YET... I've seen larger.

It'd be easier for all if we could just disable signatures in the RP sections. I'm not sure if it's possible though but no more complaints.

Hey, I like them. I have Dragon Cave ones and they look alright. You can always right-click the image in Firefox and press "block all images from (URL here)" to get rid of them all. Works for the most part, people don't use tinyURL here. Avoidable!

Agreed on many points. I've seen many members with HUGE sigs too.
It annoys me when mods don't catch them, when I was warned once, and my sig wasn't even that largely over size :/

It's not hard to remember to turn off sigs, but I do know some people who don't bother reading what they posted (which is a good idea to make sure there are no typos as well), and therefore didn't notice that they forgot.

I don't have a problem with links. Sigs are there to express who we are, and if links do that, then why not?
Unless they link to inappropriate things, I don't see a problem here.

Signatures are fine, just so long as they aren't giant.
Togo and the other mods do a pretty good job with controlling the sizes, though. There's even a restriction for signature banners that are too large, meaning that if the image exceeds a certain width and height (er... I couldn't tell you what that size is. I used to know, but it seems to have slipped my mind), a member will be unable to use it.

As said in the rules, sig size is 600px in width, and 200px in height. ;)

And I agree with Cobaltié.
Role-Plays: I prefer them off myself, though I don't think them that annoying, but would be nice if they were automatically off if the mods don't want them on at all.
About sig pets: I don't think they're bad. I have some Chicken Smoothie pets myself that I like to stick in my sig once in a while. It's when they're stacked on top of each other or just have too many that it goes beyond the sig rules, that it annoys me.

Perhaps there should be a ban on tinyURL/such services for clickable pets? If you use those services it often becomes difficult to block them.

If this is what you think, then how come you've got a dragon thingy in your signature? I don't mean to be rude, just wondering...

Because it's not linked via a tinyURL service, it's a link from the original host, therefore easy to block.

What tinyURL does, is shrink the URL down into a much smaller size, therefore giving you the ability to link more of the clickable pets.
Not to mention, you can apparently get spyware from such links as they don't actually tell you where you are going.

This is possible. It's under forum permissions on the admin panel.

I thought that auto-disabled sigs were already there in the RP sections... unless somehow it got messed up.

It is in the private sections... I think.

Signatures aren't disabled in public sections.

Hmm, I have a feeling they should be. No doubt Steet will be able to change it as soon as he's back.
(I don't know if Togo could do that or not.)

It should be working now, on all RPG sections.
