Look I am tired of seeing repeatitive artits being chosen for best fanart of the week. Why can people like me(even though I have two Balto pics that I drew right now but will draw more), has NEVER been chosen to be an artist of the week before?I think it is a bit unfair for just popular artists get the drawing of the week instead of us unpopular ones not to be noticed.Or they are only popular or chosen cause they use photoshop instead of regular tradtional drawings. Does anyone else agree on this site?I stil think we should change the random artists of the weeke so that EVERYONE of us BSers who draws gets a chance to shine.

So you do understand how I feel?I am not trying to start a flame war of anything but I am just sick of not having my time to shine is all or others out there who worked hard on their art too.

I agree with this, so I understand completely how you feel. Its always the same artist over and over. It's boring to see the same artists art over and over again. Mostly its downright annoying. Meanwhile, what are the rest of us? Chopped liver? Is there something wrong with our art? Or do we not meet your standards?

Don't take my word for it, but I'm getting the impression that there is some favoritism going on.If that's the case, something needs to be done to stop that. There are other artist here other than, Jett, Greykitty, and Oha. Why not open the door a little bit and try something new? Like I said, give other people a chance.

I know this seems be a rant within a rant, lol.

Unfortunately, since becoming a fan-art mod, I've not managed to select anything to go in the must-see list.

I'm not sure who it is who updates the art of the week but I'd guess the lead art mod. There are floods of personal characters every week but not much Balto art, when there is some, it's not always the best quality.
I can't speak for any of the other sections. (Aside from projects which is seldom used anyway.)

For some reason it hasn't been working right or me, so I haven't been able to select any of the FAOTW for a while. Maybe with the new updates it would work, I'd have to give it a try.

If you have an issue with something, just pm a mod or togo, even steet. Its not like we'll ban you for it or anything, we want you all to be happy with what we do, so if you think something isn't right, tell us so we can either explain it or work something out. Like a fanfiction, or art/image that you think should be featured, pm it to us. There are a lot of galleries remember, we can't go searching through each one. It helps us if you can suggest these things to us.

As far as I knew, we aren't suppose to always feature the more 'popular' artists and such. But we DO want to feature art that had effort put into it, not just something thrown together in five minutes to follow the official:original ratio rule in the galleries now. And not many want to do it anymore I've noticed, and its sad.

Maybe we could hire members to just do this each week, ones that have been around a while and know certain artists/writers and the like? Kind of like the news editors who go around and find this and that from sections and feature them each update.

I have said before, and I'll say it again - if the human element is removed from this equation, and the selection of the week is done entirely at random, by automated coding or programming, it is the only certain way to keep things entirely fair. It's a shame that such a suggestion would probably get shot down as either unreasonable or impossible (which of course it would not be).

the definition of "best" as per dictionary.com is "of the highest quality, excellence, or standing." if according to skeet, the selection of the week is meant to feature the "best" creations sent in, then suggesting to make the selection random does not make any sense to me. i think people on the board need to realize that they are looking for "the best" drawings. despite the fact that this board is part of the online world, the people who use it are part of the real world. as horrible as this sounds, sometimes no matter how hard a person works on a drawing, it just may not be considered by the "best." it may be their own personal best work, and that's great for them. but in the real world, sometimes, not matter how hard you try in something, you may just not be the best in that subject area. also, the word "best" is subjective. what warrants something the best? basically by what other people think. "this is where you get the best french fries." "she is the best nascar driver." "he has the best ideas." "that is the best song ever made."

here is an example. the oscars. they give out an award for "best picture." it is not random. it is voted on. well actually they get to rank the movies from 1-10. but what i'm getting at is that although the director may think that there movie is the best, if nobody else thinks so, then its not going to be viewed as the best.

The problem is, "best" is a subjective term based on personal opinion and preferences.

Random features are the only true equal way to have features, yes. There used to be a random gallery of the week which was pretty good. It gave everyone a fair chance to be featured.

Unfortunately, while I sit here and look at the fanart features, I see mainly Photoshop pictures with the same artists... I think Jett has been featured twice now in a short time period... it's not like there's THAT much of a lack of talent that you can't get different features. Srsly.

If the issue is just that not enough artists are getting exposure, why not just create an artificial time limit and no person can be featured twice during this period? That way, other artists than a set few will get to be seen and if there is a piece of artwork that "must" be featured, it can be marked and set aside until the time limit expires.

I think we should show more of traditional art instead of photoshopped OR MS ones too. I agree what you have to say.
I wander why Steet took out random artits of the week?

Zerv also has apoint too.
