Look, I am tired of seeing some people's fan characters or fanarts with just traced Balto scenes from the movie with see thru paper instead of taking the time to draw it themselve, even if they can't do a good job alone. Does this bug you as much as it does me?Please explain your thoughts here. Sorry if there is another topic like this but it makes me mad when people want to trace intstead of putting effort in drawing!

Traced drawings aren't allowed in fanart, but its not always easy to tell if its traced. Sometimes it is obvious though, and those are never accepted. If you think any are being traced just report them, you won't get in trouble if you're wrong, you're helping us keep track or who does this and who doesn't.

Draco-- I know what tracing paper looks like believe me but I don't want to end up accusing people if I don't know the truth

It doesn't bother me too much because I don't really do fanart except for one time. If I had other people trace mine and use it then I might feel differently.

But I myself would be happy about it. It means that people are appreciating your art and think it must be good if they're emulating it. I suggest that you people that would be upset think about it differently as a positive thing.

Plus it's at least a place for new artists to start. And if they're not new then maybe they're not too good or they just need a quick design.

And I think that we're all forgetting that this is the internet. People will likely copy your drawings and odds are you probably will not find out.

Thank you all for putting how you feel, into this topic but I just hate it when people have less effort to draw then copy all the time but like some of you said, it would be better if some people traced than drew it originally because it would look really messy. I have my statements so I don't feel quilty about it.

I disagee. I think that it would be better to have a "messy" picture than a traced one. |:
If you trace images, you'll never learn to draw. You can trace from every shreenshot and colouring book on the face of this earth and not learn a single thing about how to be a real artist.
No matter how badly a real drawing looks, it's still a REAL drawing that someone /probably/ worked pretty hard on.
I'd rather see something that someone put sweat and blood into than somethig that someone faked.
Tracing does not make one an artist, no matter how good it looks.

Well I don't trace at all I draw mine free handed. But I am just saying I wouldn't like to see messy drawings but it WOULD help if people DREW more than traced yes.

If traced fan art isn't allowed, then why do the fan art rules say it is allowed?

Anyway, I personally don't mind traced fan arts. I just don't like it when people trace and say they didn't trace. It's usually obviouse that they did trace.

They've never been allowed in the fanart section so I don't know why that's there. Needs to be changed, thats for sure.

Yeah I agree with Draco on that one cause if you are gonna be an artist, atleast try to draw it instead of tracing^
