Animal Poetry

Hello. I really like poetry, so I decided to see if anyone else likes to write animal poetry at times. So if you have any cool, cute, or any kind of animal poem, please post it here. If this goes in the fanfiction section, please move it there. Anyway, here's one of my poems.

A lesson from the Skunk

About the skunk, the first thing we think
Is about how bad they stink
But how does the skunk feel about that?
He doesn't mind, that's the fact.

He knows animals stay far away
All because of the nasty smell he can spray
But he doesn't care he smells bad
Because he knows the advantages to be had

Where other animals want to find a hiding place
The skunk knows he's perfectly safe
Because he can cause a stench so foul
His only predator is an owl

So he can walk in confident poses
While his foes run off holding their noses
Because sprayed they've been
Or been once before and said "Never again!"

Look close and the lesson to learn here may be clear
Its to learn are own faults are nothing to fear
If the skunk can love his stinky self
Why can't we put self hate on the shelf?

So next time a skunk is in your view
Don't just think "peeyew!"
When you consider it, doesn't he make you think
Not liking who you are sure does stink!

The skunk loves his smelly musk
So why about ourselves we should fuss?
If this stinker likes himself with that awful smell
Why can't we like who we are as well?

I don't write to much poetry, never really been any good.

Oh, well at least you had fun reading my poem, that's all I really care about is that people can have fun reading it. I like writing, and the best part about writing is watching people enjoy it.

Paws imprinted in sand,
Fur tugged in the wind.
Amber eyes sweep out to sea,
taking in all before it's feet.

Ears flick, tail swish,
howls cut through the air.
Majestic nature,
makes all stare.

Running, snarling,
leading, hunting.

Sticking together, loyalty
to the end.
Caring, nuzzling, pups held near.
THe softer side of the wolf shows clear.

Okay, so not my best...but not my worst either.

Had to do a poem for school last year. I decided to do mine bout dogs. Here it is:

Loyal, loving, smart, and kind
Although they cannot always speak their mind.
Furry, cute, cuddly, and playful
They always find a way to make us cheerful
They play fetch, learn tricks, and want to be with you.
They’re the best pet you can have, that’s just plain true
Whether you’re a dog hater or dog lover,
Some people consider dogs their own brothers!
They come in all different sizes, colors, shapes, and breeds.
So many variations, although all seem to lead
The hearts of people from all around,
Whether the dog is big, small, black or brown.
