Alright, I have a terrible allergy to ladybugs and I'm also asthmatic, meaning around this time of year, when they go inside for the winter, I have an awful time and I can hardly breathe. Does anyone know a way to keep them out of the house or relieve my symptoms? I'm desprete!

Also, does anyone else here suffer from my problem? Maybe not the asthma but the allergy.

What a coincidence, my dorm has been having ladybug problems and my room is one of the ones the ladybugs seem to like.

This doesn't bring anything to the topic help wise.

Have you tried seeing if there is anyway there getting in? Is there a window that has a gap? Other than that, I don't know what to tell you.

they're just bugs, Tink. I hate to tell you this, but bugs don't have any feelings, nor a brain for that matter. They just have a nervous system.

I have to disagree with that statement. Personally, if you just quickly kill them they don't really feel it, letting them suffer is wrong.

I have to say not to let them suffer, all animals have feelings, making them suffer is wrong. Plus when it comes to lady bugs, squishing them just releases the chemicals people are allergic to.

Paradox, Mighty dear. If they have a Nervous System, they can feel. Have you ever watched a bug "suffer"? They feel it.

Medical dictionary meaning of "Nervous System": the bodily system that in vertebrates is made up of the brain and spinal cord, nerves, ganglia, and parts of the receptororgans and that receives and interprets stimuli and transmits impulses to the effector organs.

So if they don't have a brain, they are unlikely to have a nervous system (as everything I've looked up, the autonomic, central, and peripheral nervous systems all have something to do with the brain and spinal cord -- which, by your claim, Ladybugs lack).

Anyway; you should try to find any entrance that you might not know of, and try to keep them away from your door(s) (just by swiping them away or something before you go inside). They're tiny, so check yourself to make sure you have none on you, too.

My husband had this problem. I'm minor-asthmatic (sports-induced), and the smell bothers me a lot. But I've never heard about a Ladybug allergy. (Maybe you can PM me and tell me some about it? :3 ) They make special sprays to kill lady bugs -- you can try that. That way, you're not making your allergy worse by smooshing the little, stinky suckers.

And make sure to clean up those tiny carcasses, that mess is just gross.

Its actuelly quite common, if your asthma is effected by it, you're allergic, I'm asthmatic too, though mine is genetic. They're really annoying, an allergy test from your doctor can tell if you have the allergy. I'm highly allergic.

Anyway, the only place they can really come in is through the attic, which is hard to find every nook and cranny up there, particularally since I've never actuelly been up there, just my dad, and that was years ago.

Okay, sorry. I agree with killing flys, but ladybirds are cute. I wonder if the garden fairies are looking for them...

I really hate to tell you this...But fairies aren't real. What does it even have to do with this topic?

Yeouch! Maybe you should try ti "fill" the area of the attic entrance? They make those rubber door-stop things to keep snow and cold out, perhaps that could help. Sealing the entrance makes it easier because you're not looking for every little crack in the walls. 'Cause the last thing I want to hear is you're returning post from the hospital because of your allergy.

True, but ours isn't one of those kind of attic entrences, its just a panal in the ceiling we have to get a ladder to get up there, so I don't know how to seal it up...the ladybugs probably crawl through cracks in the ceiling too.
