Maybe you've heard about the upcoming video game "Epic Mickey" : viewtopic.php?f=4&t=27938&p=952776&hilit=epic+mickey#p952776

Warren Spector, the game creator, has posted some information and in his Disney collection, we can see that :

It's a Baloo figure?! O_O Lol, then again it shouldn't be surprising since he has a whole collection of Disney stuff XD

But... if Baloo appears in that unusual game... I've got nothing much to say since I know so little about Epic Mickey but this is going to be interesting to say the least. XD I hope we get to see the Sea Duck if that's the case.

Well, the fact he does have a figurine doesn't mean there will be anything related to Talespin in the game (there are very slight chances for this to happen) Well maybe Baloo will, but more because of the Jungle book (did Disney include him anywhere in the Kingdom hearts games? I don't think so)

But seeing destroyed / post-apocalyptic versions of the Sea duck, Higher for hire etc...would be kinda interesting, true

At least this shows the game is in good hands...

Yeah. Not some random developer who doesn't quite know where the originals are coming from (remembers Bionicle heroes... *shudders*)

Oh-my-gosh. I'm becoming more and more amazed.

Here's a little extract of one interview of Warren Spector :

Quote:
WS: Also, I want to do a Duck Tales game. Convince the world that a Duck Tales game needs to be made. I can’t convince anybody at Disney to let me do a Duck Tales game. How can that be?

GI: Everybody I know, when you ask about the cartoons that they are fond of from childhood, there’s that varying list of all the action ones, the G.I. Joes and the Transformers and the Thundercats and all that stuff, but everybody loves Duck Tales.

WS: Carl Barks really is the greatest American comic book writer and artist ever. Some people would say Will Eisner. There’s competition. But Carl Barks is the best, and he wrote and drew the stories that inspired half of those Duck Tales episodes, and they are watered down. You would not believe the beauty and the power of those stories. They’re not for kids. They’re really very adult or certainly appealing to the broadest possible audience, which is kind of where I want to be now. I don’t want to make games for kids, I don’t want to make games for gamers, I want to make games for everybody. I think if someone did Carl Barks or Duck Tales right, it would be awesome. Donald Duck and Uncle Scrooge were Indiana Jones 50 years before Indy was a glimmer in Spielberg’s eyes. It’s just amazing, and they’re doing nothing with him right now.

GI: You can make that happen.

WS: Yeah, we’ll see. That’s a big organization to buck.

GI: But once you do Mickey, it all opens up, doesn’t it?

WS: We’ll see. I hope you’re right.

This is the first im hearing about Epic Mickey. But if they released a Duck Tales game on the PS3 oh man I would flip out. Day one purchase for sure. Assuming its good. And surprisingly I never got around to playing Kingdom Hearts. Im a huge Disney and FF fan. I have to get that game. I still play my PS2 all the time. More than my PS3.

And a year or so ago I saw The Jungle Book on the Sega Genisis at EB. So I bought it. But of course I got home and popped it in and it didnt even work. Never took it back either. Since I only payed 2 dollars for it. But I still got The Lion King and Aladdin on Super NES. Those games are my shhh

EB meaning EB Games of USA/Australia, I presume? The ones here certainly don't sell anything for old consoles.

I think he meant Ebay.

Jungle book was pretty good, though not up to the quality of the megadrive version of Aladdin. (the super nes Aladdin game was different and not very good, the megadrive version is acclaimed to be one of the best film adaptation ever made in video games history)
You should check out the Mickey games from that period too : especially "Castle of Illusion" and my all-time favorite Disney game, "World of Illusion".

Kingdom hearts are good games, but still very different from the "old school" Disney games. But if you like Disney, you must try them.

Apart from that, Capcom used to make very good Disney games on the old Nes, especially Ducktales and Rescue Rangers. The Talespin game adaptation wasn't as good unfortunately but is still enjoyable.

Well, what do you know...

I posted a comment on Warren Spector's blog, and he actually ANSWERED me!

Quote:
I can’t talk about what might or might not be in the game, but it’s good to hear from a fan. I have to admit, I never watched TaleSpin (though after bopping over to your website, I think I’ll check it out), but I’m a big Ducktales fan. Actually, I’m a big Carl Barks fan, the comic book artist and writer who created a lot of the material that inspired the Ducktales series. If you haven’t turned your readers onto Barks – or if you haven’t experienced the joys of his work yourself – go do so! You won’t regret it.

I'm a bit disappointed to hear that he never watched TaleSpin (rather strange for a "big Ducktales fan"?) but as he said he's probably more into the comic books than the series.
In any case, he's the most famous person to ever come on my site(s), and THAT is pretty awesome

I wouldn't go as far as that. He probably just took a look but I doubt he would have time to stay, especially if he doesn't know the series.
But it's still very cool (to think he's so popular to "hardcore gamers", and that Epic Mickey will probably become a huge franchise in the years to come! And that game has around 300 people working on it, so being able to talk to the main "head" like this is...wow!)

And even though we can cross the idea about having some Talespin-related elements or cameos in Epic Mickey, now that it's too far into development, maybe that could happen in future sequels (because, yes, I can safely say that Disney wants this to become a FRANCHISE, Bob Iger declared that recently in a general way but I'm sure this applies to Epic Mickey too...)
