Hello.

I recently got ODST and am looking for some people to play Firefight with on Xbox Live. If you own the game and need someone to play with, I'd be willing. Just post your gamertag here if you play ODST online...otherwise please do not post your gamertag here as it may confuse others into thinking you play ODST Firefight.

Just curious, what makes ODST any different or any better than Halo 3? Since I wasn't a big fan of Halo 3.

I haven't played it myself, but from what I've collected Halo 3: ODST is a more tactical shooting game than any of the other, more action focused games in the series. You play as one of the marines in a special ops team known as ODST. They are not equipped like the Master Chief, so your survivability is far lower. Thus where the focus goes to a more tactical game.

As far as I know, all of the levels in ODST's campaign are sandbox-style and not the Halo traditional linear style. You get your objectives for each of the levels, but you're given this large area to go through, giving you almost an unlimited routes to take to meet your objective. To help you plan out your assault, the pause menu also brings up a 3D Map of the current level.

The game also has it's own multiplayer mode, but from what I hear, it isn't as refined as to what Halo 2 or Halo 3. I also hear that the game take more focus to the campaign mode more than the multiplayer mode, but that it still does a decent job at it.

I can't really dive into my own opinions about the game since I have yet to actually play it. I'm excited for the day I do get that chance. To me, the original Halo formula kinda got stale since the second game. With the changes I've seen, I hope this will be similar to how I felt playing Halo: Combat Evolved.

What Rusty said is mostly true. My roommate just got the game from the pre-order on the release date, and, from watching the game, it is relatively different from the other games in the Halo series.

The gameplay is more hub-style. The hub is New Mombassa, nine hours after the drop, and you look around the city for clues as to what happened before you came to, and the missions are flashbacks to the other members of your squad (where you play as a specific squad member). And, since you start out with silenced weapons at night, sneaking around enemies is a relatively viable option in the hub area rather than go in like Master Chief, guns blazing. Plus, being unable to dual-wield weapons is an additional drawback. Plus, unlike Master Chief, who needs a flashlight on his gun, you have a special sort of night vision.

Also, to note, the pause menu does not actually pause the game. (Believe me, I found that out the hard way!) but it does bring up a very useful map of the area so you can plot out your own waypoints to get through the levels.

But as to the offer of playing the game online, that's what we have the Net Coliseum for. I'll re-post your offer there.

But in the meantime, I or my roommate might get online to play firefight (even though we prefer to system-link at the moment, I'm sure we'll go to do some online action, soon.

His (or, I guess for the time being, our) gamertag is Kobylkafish
