This has been eating at me for a while. One of the reasons I didn't come on this board for a few months was because I was fed up with so many topics being locked. I know some shouldn't have been made in the first place, but many are innocent mistakes. one time I made a post about fursuiting, and it was locked because in a different section and several pages back there was one about someone in a balto fursuit. its not necessary to lock every singe similar topic. I think a moderator from the furtopia forum summed it up best. Quote: While making a post with links to all the threads is nice, the simple realities are that it will eventually be buried under new posts again. Besides, is that in itself really any different than someone else making a new thread themselves? Either way it's one more thread on the same subject that is going to be skipped over and missed later on when the subject comes up again.
once again, please ease up on the locking of topics

Well, this is annoying to see several topics on the same subject, especially if people post in all of them at the same time. It's always better to regroup the similar ideas into the same topic.
But, if there is a similar topic which is old, we won't close the new one.
If the similar topic was in a different section, it's probably because it was misplaced, so if you had put it in the right section, you would have seen the topic similar to yours.
Of course, there isn't a search function, so we will not be mad at you because you make topics that already exists...

First off, I am not mad, jut mildly annoyed.
Quote: If the similar topic was in a different section, it's probably because it was misplaced, so if you had put it in the right section, you would have seen the topic similar to yours. mine was in the “other” section, about anyone being a fursuiter, nothing whatsoever relating to balto, the one that pre existed was called “Balto fursuiting” in the “fanart and more” section. I think there is some discord in the rules of locking topics though Quote: But, if there is a similar topic which is old, we won't close the new one. Quote: Bottom line: if there's already a topic on the subject, no matter how old it is, there's no need for a new one.
make up your minds

In the forums rules, there is only this :
Quote: 9. Starting a topic - When you start a new topic, make sure you start it in the right section, and make sure there is not already another similar topic in the section.
By writing that, I meant : another similar topic in the current page. Of course, nobody will go through all the topic pages to see if there is a similar topic (in some sections, there are 8 or more pages...)

Yes, Togo's right : we don't blame anyone for doing that, unlike other things such as bad language etc..., but we still have to do our job.
