I thought it deserved its own topic so here it is. Anyone who has story ideas for TS virtual season episodes, please share them here. Brainstorming, commenting and elaborating on suggested story ideas is welcome too.
I only have a few story ideas, many of which involve bringing back a few one shot characters. Characters like:
Ignatz from “Polly Wants A Treasure”, Katie Dodd from “For Whom the Bell Klangs”, Myra from “In Search of Ancient Blunders”, Kitten Kaboodle from “A Star Is Torn”, Professor O'Bowens from “A Baloo Switcharoo” , Colonel Grogg from “War of the Wierds” and possibly others.
Characters from the comics may also be used, like Lilly Ravenwood from “Flight of the Sky-Raker”.
One shot characters would be reused and would mostly stay true to their previous roles, while at the same time not rehashing previous episodes.
Possible story ideas: -1- Baloo could go to a casino and after losing at Blackjack initially, Kit could help him count cards. They're caught and taken to the owner who happens to be Ingatz. After a quick greeting Ignatz tells them of some problem to fix or treasure to find or something like that. Adventure and hilarity ensue. I thought to do this story because I like Ignatz; he's a good character that can get under Baloo's skin in a way that's always hilarious.
-2- Lily Ravenwood could make an appearance for some reason... Maybe concerning the microfilm containing the plans for the Sky Raker that were never found at the end of Tscomic #2 “Flight of the Sky-Raker – Operation Ravenwood”. That would mean appearances by Don Karnage and Shere Khan, which is sure to provide plenty of opportunities for action, adventure, suspense, and comedy.
-3- Baloo, Kit and maybe Wildcat get captured by Don Karnage (or something) and learn how Karnage acquired (stole) the Iron Vulture. Most of the story will probably be Karnage's fond recounting of his stealing the Iron Vulture (flashback sequences) interrupted at times by Baloo's or Kit's sarcastic comments and questions. Basically an episode with lots of action and danger punctuated with comedy.
-4- The Air Pirates could steal some fancy/important plane/weapon/device from the Thembrians and... uh... chaos ensues... I guess. I thought of this one recently so haven't come up with any details yet. Just imagine though: Don Karnage and the Air Pirates vs. Col. Spigot and the Thembrian Military, now that has to be a funny episode.
Good story ideas have already been shared for some of the other one shot characters, and the remaining ones (Kitten Kaboodle, Colonel Grogg and Professor O'Bowens) are robust enough that coming up with compelling stories featuring them shouldn't be too difficult.
Of course, there will be a good spread of action, adventure, comedy, suspense and drama episodes to keep the Virtual Season well rounded.
Well, those are my ideas; I welcome yours.

Good ideas I especially like that one : Quote: -3- Baloo, Kit and maybe Wildcat get captured by Don Karnage (or something) and learn how Karnage acquired (stole) the Iron Vulture. Most of the story will probably be Karnage's fond recounting of his stealing the Iron Vulture (flashback sequences) interrupted at times by Baloo's or Kit's sarcastic comments and questions. Basically an episode with lots of action and danger punctuated with comedy. I would then add Rebecca, Molly (sneaking) and/or Wildcat to the rescue (now that would be funny ) Quote: Baloo could go to a casino and after losing at Blackjack initially, Kit could help him count cards. Mmm, I could definitely see him convincing Kit to cheat for him As I said, I'm not very good to come up with ideas, but I would especially like to see more of the main characters past : Baloo (I still believe it wasn't the first time he had been "stabbed in the back" after Kit's betrayal in Plunder & Lightning; how did he meet Louie and Wildcat for the first time; how did he manage to get his plane and "Baloo's air service"?), Kit (obvious reasons : how did he survive alone for so long, who were his parents, etc...), Becky (Where's her husband? What if she was...still married??), Karnage (How did he get into being a pirate, and even a captain? Why is he so full of himself? - not sure that can be explained though ) Of course to make such ideas work, we would need to make stories which have linked to the present. (there has to be a good reason for the characters telling about their past)

in response to 0x7B's ep ideas: --#1--\\ This one would be reeaaally interesting. I'd love to see how Kit will handle the casino part. However we might need somewhat of a smoother transition from casino to treasure hunt or something. Then again the details I don't know probably would support this transfer. XD --#2--\\ I'm not too familiar with the one shot characters... might be a good chance for me to catch up on who they are *runs off to watch the episodes they appeared in* --#3--\\ Personally, I'm not too fond of flashbacks. Don't get me wrong I don't hate em. It is still nevertheless something that would be interesting to find out one of the many possibilities of how Karnage gets the Iron Vulture. --#4--\\ I like this idea. Lot's of chances for aerial conflicts. Hey maybe if possible we can throw in Kahn Industries into the mix. Like say: a certain portion of the development was aided by Kahn Industries(since Kahn seems to be involved in almost anything XD ) Then again: I like this idea simply because of my love for aircraft XD I'm trying to think of ideas but they are too single character focused ( I just realized they were mainly Kit oriented o.o ) to be an episode. . I literally just have ideas... scattered XD Kit teaching Baloo how to Cloud Surf... who the heck will fly the plane I have no clue. XD Kit and his status/life in school. He must be a smart kid in math at least considering he can navigate a plane. Hence why I like his statement: "I'd rather do [math]" I forgot the exact word he used. The only other non-Kit idea, inspired from SnowKicker's idea/post on CMB: Extreme napping... Baloo takes his routine nap-- under the wing of the Sea Duck just for fun(or some random reason. Maybe hiding from his boss ) then someone steals the sea duck. Kit or Wildcat or someone finds out and stows away in an attempt to take back the sea duck but Baloo remains in his hammock throughout most of the flight.

Thanks for the feedback and ideas! #1 I'm not really sure exactly which way I want to take it. I'm starting to rethink the treasure hunt angle because another treasure hunt might seem like a rehash of "Polly Wants A Treasure". Instead, I'll probably focus on the business angle (Ignatz's casino). Maybe Ignatz could be having trouble with the Mafia, or a rival casino owner, etc. #2 Lilly Ravenwood appeared only in the TaleSpin comics, available here: http://www.animationsource.org/sites_co ... part_1.ziphttp://www.animationsource.org/sites_co ... part_2.zipI don't have too many details worked out for this one either, except that Khan and Karnage and Lilly (with H4H gang) would all be trying to find and keep the microfilm. Possibly at the end of the episode, Lilly could go to live with a relative in a nearby city and the relative could happen to have a daughter Molly's age. This convenient arrangement would allow Lilly and her new unofficial little sister to drop by from time to time to keep things interesting. Also, Lilly's new little sister could become Molly's friend, which would provide an opportunity for Molly-centric episodes. (And also Molly deserves a non-doll friend her own age.) #3 steet wrote: I would then add Rebecca, Molly (sneaking) and/or Wildcat to the rescue (now that would be funny ) Yeah, there's a pretty good chance I'll add Rebecca and Molly. Maybe Baloo Kit and Rebecca are captured and hear the "how I stole the Vulture" story while Molly (who had stowed away in the Sea Duck) emerges and runs around The Vulture wreaking psychological and mechanical havoc. Perhaps Karnage's story can also be briefly interrupted by reports of "Gremlins on the ship!" Naturally Molly saves the day at the end of the episode only moments after Karnage has finished his story. Everyone safely escapes in the Sea Duck leaving the half crippled Iron Vulture struggling to stay airborne. As for Karnage telling his stories in flashback, most of the episode will be Karnage's story so it really won't seem too much like a flashback. Besides, that's about the only way to tell the story that I can think of without making a pre-Plunder and Lightning episode. #4 eclipse wrote: Hey maybe if possible we can throw in Kahn Industries into the mix. Like say: a certain portion of the development was aided by Kahn Industries(since Kahn seems to be involved in almost anything XD ) That's a good idea, it would really help further the plot and provide lots of opportunities for aerial combat, which is always good. steet wrote: I would especially like to see more of the main characters past Me too. I'll probably intersperse episodes dealing with characters' past (which will probably tend to be more dramatic, character development episodes) with purely action/adventure/mystery/comical episodes to keep the virtual season well rounded. eclipse wrote: I'm trying to think of ideas but they are too single character focused ( I just realized they were mainly Kit oriented o.o ) to be an episode. . I literally just have ideas... scattered XD I have the same problem. (Kit is my favorite character.) Most of my ideas are scattered and undeveloped right now too, but scattered ideas are better than no ideas at all. I like your ideas! -- Kit teaching Baloo how to Cloud Surf - Interesting... I'd definitely have to see that! Can you imagine Baloo trying to use Kit's airfoil? Half the time the airfoil looks too small for Kit! Maybe Kit and Wildcat could make an airfoil for Baloo or something. -- Kit and his status/life in school - This is probably my favorite of these because the series showed so little of his school life / social life. There's so much to explore here! -- Extreme napping - Another interesting one. You know, I can actually see that happening to Baloo.

Quote: may be off topic but is a Balto Virtual Season doable There already is a project like that, although you need to remember that I have not been involved in that one : viewtopic.php?f=1&t=4345And please don't write in SMS.
Quote: I have the same problem. (Kit is my favorite character.) Most of my ideas are scattered and undeveloped right now too, but scattered ideas are better than no ideas at all. In any case, in order to "stick" to the original series as much as possible, we would have to make *very varied* episodes and avoid repetitivity as much as possible. Which is why taking ideas from different people is a good...idea. Let me think about it and I may find some ideas too...

Isn't Usland is supposed to be an America (or a Roman theory influenced country) of sorts? The only casinos I know of around here are the ones ran by my tribe and other American Indian tribes in this area. In 1930 would there have been casinos? What would a casino in 1930 have been like? I'm having trouble picturing this in my head. Although the plot sounds like something Baloo would do. He always learns everything the hard way. Someone needs to give Baloo a diploma for graduating from the school of hard knocks.

Think Tiny's Grill (Bringing Down Babyface) with slot machines. Personally, I don't really see Baloo or Kit counting cards. They just don't have the math skills to manage it. Buzz, though, could probably pull it off so long as he isn't distracted.

It is, Jymn confirmed it : Quote: #3 : Was Thembria a stereotype of Russia? /// Well, definitely the Cold War Soviet Union. For those of you who lived through the Cold War (and I doubt that's very many), you'll know that there was a real "Us" versus "Them" attitude in the world at that time. Thus the country names "Usland" and "Thembria." However, Usland was located roughly in the tropics of southeast Asia/Pacific. Baloo I understand not having math skills, but Kit I believe should have more than enough skill. Navigating by a map (then and now) is not that easy and requires numbers and calculations.

Maybe the problem that Igntaz needs Baloo to fix is Babyface half-Nelson or trader Moe trying to dip into the casino winnings? I liked the whole gang mafia twist on the H4H gang. Rebecca looked good dressed as a moll. Baloo would defenitly have to have Kit help him with cards. Kit would need a good reason to help Baloo. Kit could be hiding under the table or perhaps watching from a balcony with binoculars and using a radio transmiter that Buzz had invented to give Baloo his next move.

Your ideas are great, 4 I prefer though, as I love battles between villians. Though perhaps a subplot in the background of our heroes using the chaos of the conflict to steele the very thing they're fighting over in the first place.
As for ideas, all I can think of is maybe for a story arch, a new villian we create forcing the heroes join forces with one or more of the villians to save each other from something else far more dangerious, I love those stories. Another idea is maybe Grogg (Please note, I only know these characters from the internet, my memory only vaguely remembers Talespin) witnesses the begining of a real alien invasion but as could be expected, very few believe him, though Baloo humors him and goes with him to investagate only to realize he's right and needing to stop it before its too late. I remember there was an episode involving a real alien so this isn't that far fetched of a plot.

I had just a little idea. I think it would be interesting if in one episode, a character got ahold of a "mind reading" machine (either something invented by Buzz for example, or a mystical item...) The TS characters clearly keep some things for themselves, and I would think the viewers / readers would love to hear what they have in mind (without revealing too much, of course! maybe the machine would only work for a few seconds at a time or something like that...the choice of character using it would be important for that matter, too) Of course that's just an idea that would need some detailing.

The original series never really explored that possibility at all, so it would be exciting avenue to explore. Godzillawolf wrote: a new villian we create forcing the heroes join forces with one or more of the villains to save each other from something else far more dangerous, I love those stories. Again, me too! This was explored briefly in the comic, but I'd still like to see what all can be done with this kind of uneasy alliance. Lol, we must think a lot alike, because I had an idea that was very similar to yours. It's an exciting subject that's full of potential. If you want to catch up on TaleSpin, all the episodes (I think) are on YouTube... Check out my TaleSpin Links post for lots of handy links: viewtopic.php?f=69&t=27467 Btw, check out the differences between the DVD and Toon Disney version of the scene from "War of the Wierds" where Colonel Grogg shoots at Baloo: -- Toon Disney version: http://www.mediafire.com/?mzhay0lmmdj (3.96 Mb, AVI, 0 min, 54 sec) -- DVD version: http://www.mediafire.com/?5gmj2fmzidy (5.63 Mb, AVI, 1 min, 11 sec) That's right, they cut out 17 seconds of gunplay from the Toon Disney version. And I love gunplay... (I'll create a imageshack account soon so in the future I can post links to streaming videos.) Yeah, that would be good... Check out 5.1 on the extended VS timeline, It may be something that could work for this purpose... I could probably move it to an earlier year so we could get to it...

Quote: The original series never really explored that possibility at all Well there is something like that, in "Mach One for the Gipper" between the air pirates and Ace London (ok, they weren't really fighting each other, more cooperative, but still) Quote: Hmm, I don't remember that episode... I remember Baloo dressed up like an alien at one point though. I don't remember seeing a real alien either. At the same time, I can't remember any Disney film / series where there's gunfights like that. I'm VERY glad that they restored everything in the DVD version. (well, save for the pilot, but that's because they put the TV version instead of the movie one)
