As a pup I was the strongest and most brilliant pup of the three of us. I was given my name for a certain reason. Dancing Rain Feather. I danced in the rain because rain suited my personality best. My mother is white and my father black. Even though I'm just a pup, I still go on the hunting patrols with my mother and the rest of the wolves. My nickname is Feather.

There was also another pup that liked me a lot for my looks not my personality and was always trying to figure out how to get me as his girlfriend. I just roll my eyes at him every time he comes up to me. Like right now. He trotted up to me in 'style' as I sat down and tried to act like I wanted his moves. I curled my tail over my paws and batted my eyes at him. He finally got to me and looked at my piercing blue eyes and said, " So, you wanna come over to ahem, my place?" He said smiling crookedly and clearing his throat.

I got up and walked away putting my tail under his chin which of course left him speechless. As I walked away I thought to myself, "When will I tell him? When will I tell him that I hate him and don't want to be with him?" I shook the thought away as I was nearing my den. Chills ran through my spine as my brothers were found dead. Lying there helplessly and I ran up to the two of them and nuzzled their little heads. I then saw my mother run up to me and pick me up by the scruff and run away to our safe spot and I saw my dad fighting off a strange twolegged with a silver thing.

Once we got there she started to whisper to me, " Stay low and be quiet." I nodded and then asked in a small whisper, "Mommy, who are those things with those silver things?" I was confused and she answered back, " They are called hunters baby. And the things they are holding, are guns." I looked away then back up at the white female, " What are hunters?" I asked her and she replied once more before things got real quiet, " They are humans. Now, be quiet baby before they hear us."

I nodded silently as I squished up against my mothers side and closed my eyes as I heard a gun shot fire. I knew that one of the wolves in the pack were dead. I didn't know why but they were. I started to cry as my mother left my side and said to me, "I'm going to go see if it's safe." She went up and saw my father and said, " Is it safe for us to come out?" He replied to her, " Yes. Yes it is." He nuzzled her and pulled me out of the safe spot and I nuzzled my father, " I'm so glad you're not dead." I clang on to his fur and felt a sheet of security cover me.

That other pup I was talking about earlier, well, his name was Tony. Tony saw what had happened and walked up to me sympathetically, " Hey you okay?" I looked at him and he looked at me, " Yeah. I'm fine." I rolled my eyes and turned away from him. He caught my eyes again and said, " Dancing, I know there's something wrong. What is it?!" Since my parents were the alphas, I guess it was kinda important that I snapped at him guessing it would make him go away. I hated it when people called me that. I also had the rights to do that since I was the 'soon to be alpha' of the pack. So, I did, " Go away! Nobody wants you making smart alike questions. Now go away!"

I growled at him and he ran out of the den and I went to my favorite spot of the den and cried to my self and fell asleep quickly. The next morning I was woken up by my mother and the other females of the pack and I knew I had to go hunting. I got up quickly and groomed my self and headed out for the hunting. When the other females were working on a kill I was sitting on the sidelines chasing a rabbit.

I heard a howl. A dark depressing howl and knew that the hunters were back. She was scared as she saw all the wolves mixed up and I was the only pup there at the moment. I was scared and I was a white blur that picked me up and threw me on her back. It was my mother. I was happy to see her. I clang on to her like I did to my father but clenched my teeth as I heard a gunshot. My fur flew up ward as the wind flew through it and I fell to the ground along with my mothers dead body. I tried to stay with her as long as I could but, my father interrupted that and picked me up.

We ran to the den and he set me on some moss and ran out to fight these scary creatures. I just sat there helplessly as there was a kind twolegged woman walked up to me and put me gently in her bag. He took me to where my mother and father had died and showed me them. Apparently they had died together. I cried and was taken off to a new home.

Once we got there (me and the Indian girl) she let me down in a strange place with other puppies. I tried to run for the gait but, they stopped me by closing it right in my face. Why was I here? I'm wild Gosh Darn it! I accidentally said that part out loud instead of my thoughts and the other puppies cocked their heads and whispered to one another, " She's weird." And, " What's her problem?" Some even laughed at me for that. But one didn't.

Apparently Tony had been captured as well. I looked at him and said, " What are you doing here Tony?" He looked back at me and said, " Well, err, uh, I was captured too? I guess." I sat down and looked at him up and down and finally turned away from him and started to walk away.

Then there was this other Male. One that I'd never heard of or seen before. He definantly wasn't a wolf like me. His tail was all curly. What is that? I asked myself in my head, never seen him before. I just walked away and tried to slip under a part of the fencing but I couldn't manage to do so. I pouted and walked inside one of the dog house thingies and lie down in it and dozed off.

The next morning the other dog that I had seen woke me up by barking at me saying "Get up mangy mut!" I growled at him and stood up right in his face, " Look! I don't know who you think you are, but certainly not the type to be yelling at me! And certainly you can't take down a wolf. I can tell." I scanned his poorly trained muscles and compared them to mine. They were pitiful. So I snorted and turned away from him and walked away with my tail down low and my ears laid back.

I actually had fun doing that but didn't show it on my face at all. I thought to myself, " That B*****d. Who does he think he is? My father? Plus nobody calls me a mutt. Especially a four legged wimp like that. Heh. He couldn't take me down even if he wanted to." I rolled my eyes, " Heh, stupid pure breeds. Snooty little, things." I said in my head.

Apparently the dog wouldn't give up without a fight and neither would I. I heard his paw timing and when he jumped at me I turned slightly to the left and pounced on the pup with fierce eyes that said leave me alone. But instead of that he tried to bite my paw. I bit his throat and he flinched and whimpered. I could tell he was giving up so I left him there. As the months went by and the months turned into years, I became a mature blackish red wolf. Built up with big muscles. I was certainly bigger and stronger than that husky.

I could pretty much kill everything in sight but chose not to. Since I was raised by those Indians, I became a calm gentle beast that used to live in the wild. They used me as a guard dog. But, then, I was set free for some reason. I loved living with these people. But, the sad part was, that I had to leave my owner. You know, the girl that saved me. Yeah. That one. But they were kicking me out of the group.

So I ran. Ran as far as I could. I soon found a wolf pack that would fit me well, but, I had to have permission to enter that pack. So, I walked in and asked where the leader was for the pack. Other wolves pointed out where her den was. So, I went that way. Thankfully she was a nice pack leader and accepted me. I ran through the obstacles and did the challenges. Thankfully I passed the tests. My new pack name was Moonlight Sonata for my black fur and moon sign on my leg. So, soon, when the old beta wolf died, I became beta. And then I moved up to becoming the deputy of the pack leader. Soon sickness swept over the packs territory and it was my duty to go find a cure for it.

It was dead winter and all I could do is find somebody to take my place while I was gone. So, I found somebody the next day and I headed out into the snowy forest to find a cure for our sickness.

On my trip I smelt a fairly familiar scent of a wolf I used to know. A male wolf to be exact. I followed his trail and found him. Of course I was hiding behind some bushes. He looked familiar when I saw him, like I knew him from somewhere. Too familiar. So I walked up to this strange wolf

I didn't know that he was from my old pack. So, I asked him, " What pack are you from?" He answered, " I'm from, err, well, I don't remember, but, I do remember somebody in my old pack named Dancing Rain Feather. I don't know what happened to her, but, we always had a wonderful time together playing in the creek." I stopped and I think my heart beet did too. I looked at him and said," I'm Dancing Rain Feather." He looked at me and said, " Hey there do you remember me?" He asked me and I looked at his eyes and said happily, " It's you!" I ran up to him and nuzzled him, "Gabriel!" He smiled and licked my cheek and said, " Yup it's me! I'm so glad I found you Rain Feather."

I nodded at him, " I know. Me too. Lets find that medicine." He looked at me and said, " My pack might have something." So I said, " Okay let's go then. Lead the way old pal." I smiled and licked his cheek.

I thought it was the start of something new. In fact, I knew it was the start of something new. I always loved Gabriel and always will. I guess I never thought I really liked him as a pup. But, for some reason, he always cared about and protected me. So, after weeks of searching for the medicine we found it and we both ran back to my camp to find out that the queen was on the verge of dying. I quickly pushed it in her mouth and she weakly smiled at me and said weakly, " T-thanks. Give it to the others that have this sickness." Tears came out of my eyes as she said it and replied, " Yes ma'am." I went around and gave it to all of the wolves and pups that had the sickness. I gave it to myself and Gabriel in case we both had gotten it by another wolf.

I took him to the alpha female and asked her if he could stay and thankfully she said yes. So I told him, " Form a patrol with about five wolves and find more of the medicine so we have more if it strikes us again. And go until sun down so we're fully loaded." I smiled and nuzzled him good bye and wished him good luck. I slowly walked back to the alpha's den and saw sadly figured out by the guards that she had passed. Hot tears rolled down my face as I walked up to her dead body and lied down beside her crying in her sweet smelling fur. She had been my provider for as long as I knew it. One of the guards came up to me and said, " You do know, that when she passed, she had a request for me to tell you. She said, that once she had passed she wanted me to protect you and for you to be the new Alpha of the pack." I looked up at him and smiled, " Thanks. I'm just glad to know that I'm the new alpha of the pack. But, it was so sudden, I thought she would get better like the rest of the pack. I looked down at the white wolf and cried some more, " Can I be alone with her for a second? Plus, we need to give her a proper burial near the place where we found the medicine." I said as the guards left the den.

After a while I left my new den still sad and scared by her passing. I went over to my old den and moved all of my stuff out of it slowly and into my new den. I hated having to leave my den. But, just another one for a new wolf. Gabriel. I was scared of being the alpha because I hated making hard decisions.

I hated making decisions because I didn't want to be unfair and say that Gabriel couldn't stay in the pack and become my mate, because I didn't want to have to make the big decisions that would say I had to banish them from the pack. I don't know. I just was uncomfortable with being a pack leader. And the fact that I didn't have a mate to help me run the pack? I was beyond uncomfortable at this point. But, I had to talk to Gabriel. I had to tell him to go to the pack meeting tonight after supper. So I ran to him as fast as I could and bumped into him while I was running towards him and trying to stop at the same time. She stuttered at first but then I spat it out of my mouth and off of my chest," Gabriel, we need to talk. Listen, I need you to be at the meeting tonight after dinner. The pack will take a vote on if you will be the new alpha or not, or if you should be in this pack or not."
He responded, " Okay that'll be cool with me. Just, what'll I have to do?"
"Well, you just need to stand up on the rock with me and the pack will take a vote." I replied.

We both walked back to the area and we settled him in his, well, I guess you could call it his, new den and I showed him around a bit and showed him my secret storage space hidden under ground.

"This is where I kept all of my food." I told him as I pointed out all of the bones with teeth marks on them from picking at the skimpy meat that was on the bones. Then I showed him what I had marked on the walls. It was the days since I joined the pack up till now, "You can keep adding on to the numbers if you want. Or, you can start a new number line. This all, this was all the days that I'd spent here since I'd joined this pack. So, I showed this to you so you could probably start your own." I smiled at him and nuzzled him with a worried feeling. He could feel my tension against his fur and looked down at me and asked, "Feather, what's wrong? Is something bothering you? Is somebody bothering you?" I could feel his throat rumble as he started to growl silently,"No, no, nothing like that, but, I was worried about you not getting accepted into the pack." I frowned and looked down but back up at him shortly afterwards. I saw his facial expression and it was a smile on his face. And I thought to myself, 'Why would he be smiling at a time like this? I though he would be concerned too... This is awkward'. I rolled my eyes at the thought that I was having and spoke,"Why are you smiling? Aren't you concerned too? I mean, I would be at least worried that I wouldn't get accepted." He looked at me and smiled. We both lied down together in the snow and I asked the others that were there, "Can you please excuse us for a moment?" They replied,"Yes ma'am." They walked off and he replied to me,"I am worried but why should you? If I don't get accepted, then I just go back to the old pack. It's simple." He smiled but I leaned into his furry side more and rested my head on his back and answer,"I should be worried, because I love you Gabriel. I want you to be my mate for life and I want you to live in this pack. I don't know what I'd do with out you in this pack. I mean, we've been separated for what, three years now? I want you to stay and not have to leave us. But most importantly me." Tears started to roll down my cheeks as I thought about it. But he answered back to me,"Don't worry about it," he licked the tears off of my face,"I'm sure they'll accept me. I wouldn't worry if I were you. Here's one reason, you're the alpha, and they're the pack. They don't have to decide."

I replied,"That's true, but I still want an opinion from the pack first so I know they're comfortable with you as a leader to them." He replied back, "Oh. But you still don't have to." I didn't feel like arguing anymore so I just said with a sigh,"Okay. Moving on to another subject now haha. Do you want to have pups?" I asked looking down at his paws, then mine noticing that they were two different colors and breed types. He answered back with wide eyes and a nearly open jaw but he smiled with a reply, "Uhh, sure." He smiled and I smiled and I nuzzled him and he me. I then lied down on my side and he mounted on me and it began. The mating of the new alpha female and, hopefully new alpha male. Next thing you know it we were together, lying down beneath the stars gazing at them. I dozed off but then jerked back awake and noticed that it was night time and jerked up and shook him and said, "Do you realize it's night time?! We have to get back to the pack." I said, and we both got up and ran back to where the meeting would be held and I sang a long howl that meant it was time for the gathering.

Gabriel walked up onto the rock with me and I nuzzled him with my muzzle still feeling a little nervous and insecure,"You ready Gabe?" He looked at me and smiled,"Don't worry. And yes, I'm ready. Are you?" He smiled at me and I at him and nuzzled him again, "Yeah I am." Soon, the pack was gathered around the stone in which Gabriel and I were standing on. I silenced the crowd, and spoke, "Okay, since I am your new alpha female, I want to keep the rules, so you don't have to change your routines. But, I have made a big desiscion, and hopefully you as a pack will accept my request as alpha female." I looked over at Gabriel and smiled,"I have found somebody I love, and I want him to be the new alpha male along with me. Does the pack agree?" I heard in the crowed from a lot of the wolves, "'I second it'" I smiled, "All in favor please say 'I'." I heard all of the wolves say 'I'. I felt a rush of relief come over me and I and all of the wolves howled in welcoming Gabriel to the pack as the new alpha male. I licked his cheek and he responded to me,"See, I told you they would. I think that they know that you need a male by your side to help you out. And, to help out your pups." He smiled at me.
