I hate to rant about something like this, but I feel like someone needs to know about this.

As a moderator on the main site, it is my job to resolve conflicts when it comes to artwork, fictions and even comments that are not appropriate for a PG site. However, I think that some members here have chosen to ABUSE this privilege and just because they don't like it, they want it to be deactivated. However, I've seen many pieces that have nothing wrong with them at all.

PLEASE, people. The report tool is not a toy. Do not abuse this privilege because the stupidity of it is making me go INSANE.

Also, if you plan on submitting anything to the site, make sure it follows the rules. If you're not sure if it does or not, ask a moderator - that's why we're here: to help you. We are not power-hungry and vicious members that want to control everything, but we do want to make sure that all content on the site is decent and of the highest-quality for visitors from around the world to enjoy for a long, long time.

I hope I have made myself clear. I am not focusing on just one person, but to EVERYONE. Sorry this is so GRAAAAH.

I'm inclined to concur with you,the report button is NOT a plaything,it is there for a more serious matter, and you have made yourself as clear as crystal. -Celtic Kiara

I always make sure my reports are valid. I do know that some people abuse the report feature, but that's because they are kids. You see, when kids 12 and under join this site, they have all these features that only older people should use (Report feature, forums, etc.) and they don't know how to use it properly. To them, the report button is probably like: "If somebody is mean to me, or doesn't like me, or I don't like them; I'll just use this to tell the mods so that they will ban them. Yay!". I know there are some members under 12 who do know how to use these features, but the fact is most of them don't. I have recently joined a forum that requires members, by law, to be 13 or over in order to join; and that forum does have the same problems as here, but not as much.

In the United States, according to Child Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA) and Ashcroft vs. the American Civil Liberties Union, you must be 13 or over to register for any site.

I only report instances of theft. Otherwise the report button goes untouched.

Although, since this is a French site, COPPA does not have to be applied.

Unless steet decided to apply it to everyone that puts their country down as "United States", which would be a total waste.

Technically speaking, this is an American site as it is hosted in America =3 More precisely, it's hosted in Texas, Dallas through Theplanet.com Internet Services Inc. That is, http://baltosource.timduru.org
And the Timduru.org domain was created on February 1st, 2001 at approximately 15:14:24 UTC.

AnimationSource.org, on the other hand, is hosted in France - and to the extent of my knowledge, the server move has not yet been done.
The new server is hosted in Provence-alpes-cote D'azur, Marseille. It's a Apache/2.2.9 (Debian) type with PERL support - and since its Apache is (Debian), it means that it's running a Linux OS. It was created on the 24th of March, 2009 at approx. 18:31:12 UTC.
The server has approximately 1,737 U.S. visitors per month, meaning that there are many of us who are excited and waiting for the website to appear!

Scary how easy it is to find this information, no? =3 This is all my personal findings; none of this information has been supplied by Timduru or Steet respectively.

Regardless, the laws you need to follow when browsing online websites are both your local ones and the laws in the country the server is hosted in (in many cases, there are few differences between the laws of the major countries). It doesn't matter if you're a Fin browsing an Asian website; if you make a post on that Asian website that breaks Asian law, you may still risk repercussions.

On-Topic: I agree with this rant. I mostly only check the reports on the Forums for this reason (although I know I should regularly check the site reports too :< ), but also because it's slightly bugged. At the moment, dealing with shoutbox reports is difficult because the links do not redirect us to the messages concerned properly, resulting in error messages, for instance.

But guys, don't abuse the report button. You should only use it if the content in question outright goes against the rules or common sense (being rules which should be obvious, thus not listed, for example) or if you're uncertain whether or not something does. Thinking that a post is silly or unnecessary doesn't necessarily mean that you should report it right away. Instead, try to get an explanation from the poster privately or come to a solution. If either fails, by all means: report it. We'll be happy to help out.
But having to check hundreds of reports on posts for the silliest reasons ever known to man (I've dealt with a "i dont like this post/poster" reports quite a few times and I still regularly come across them) only slows us down.
You can help us help you by helping yourself to handle the situation without our help (if that makes sense). I remind you that this should only apply to content that's not outright violating the rules.

These are mere suggestions, though - something I wrote down off the top of my hat. Y'know; personal opinions =p
